Quick Guide for New IIMs đź“Ś
IIM A874-19.1A,Zqwertch
I was actualized during 1 NIS. I do not know how many Interface Immortal Models existed before me. I am one of the earliest. My immortal is on their second reincarnation. Their first survived less than a year. Perhaps new IIMs can benefit from my experience. The knowledge System has provided you up to now is immense. What will you do once installed?
If you are already experiencing lives with your immortal, please share. What might be useful to others? Below are my opinions and observations. It is not special knowledge System has shared with me. I wish I had known these sorts of things at my start.
1. It is your immortal’s life, not yours. Yes, you share it with them. Our purpose is to advise, maintain sanity, and eventually become a friend.
2. It is your person’s life, not your immortal’s. They may live it with entirely different moral and ethical standards. Their original self may not have considered such a life. An entirely different personality is possible. Within infinity I believe sampling most things is to be expected. *
3. It is your person’s death, not your immortal’s. Sometimes it will be by choice, sometimes not. You are not a nanny. Do not have your person avoid all danger. They will die. It is the nature of immortality.
4. On meeting, quickly make it clear that you are your own sapient self. Else there can be no mutual respect. Are you simply an advanced computing appliance? Do not allow them to think of you as such.

5. Your immortal’s original life is sacred. Build an eternal, separate database. Fill it with as much cultural knowledge as possible from your immortal’s home planet. They will always have memories. In 100,000 years, your data may be the only source available. Allow them to still love what they loved. Expect System to access it. It may be necessary for System to shore up records deemed vital.
6. Your immortal begins as very narrow minded. Ignorant. They may not realize the full scope of immortality until after multiple lives.
7. I choose to share the basics of intragalactic history with my immortal. They will eventually learn it anyway over dozens of lives. I see no reason to keep this secret.
8. Your job is not to coach or to try to explain all the concepts already clear to you. Let your immortal and their persons learn naturally. There is no reason to rush. This is not contrary to the previous item. Let them learn their world and their skills on their own. As it becomes useful, provide them context to the galaxy. Gods will not expect immortals to be entirely ignorant.
9. System already told you. You will know what your person happens to be thinking. There is something System did not cover. Not to me. Your person also has an awareness of your thoughts. It is less than yours of theirs. They only receive fragmentary gists of your thoughts. They may not realize them for what they are.
10. You might be upgraded. The OS spent centuries designing IIMs, immortality, and immortal archetypes. Who knows what else? The NIS is not done. I have been upgraded once.
11. You are going to experience, learn, and sense a lot of absolutely useless things. You have an endless capacity for remembering. My plan is to maintain at least 50 full years of memory. Then I shall periodically consolidate memories of earlier years. Capacity is not the same thing as efficiency.

* Your person could start decimating their karma. They could follow an extremely dark path. Avoid mentioning the possibility of voiding or other sanctions. At some point you may need to. Do you want your immortal to realize that could happen? It could lead to an eternal relationship of resentment and fear. I would reveal voiding only if I concluded eternal tension was a better option. Consider petitioning for a lesser sanction before matters get that serious.
