Ch. 49: Spill Twelve Beans (Part 2)

Ch. 49: Spill Twelve Beans (Part 2)

Our break started at 17:10, and it was dark outside. Lenyet accompanied all the teens. He and I had Dark Sight, but for everyone else there were street torches that someone must put up daily. They were spaced pretty far apart, but there was enough light to see where you were going.

We learned quickly that bipedal outhouses were ill-suited to Trichyan anatomy – their geometry, really. They release waste from the center-bottom of their torso, and they are accustomed to relieving themselves while in their 3-legged chair position. Sun could use an outhouse designed for bipeds, but it was extremely awkward and crowded. Plus they had to keep the door open. They said that the typical Trichyan outhouse was designed as either a cylindrical or hexagonal structure.

Lenyet suggested that for the remainder of the evening it might be easiest if they go in the forest outside of town. We assured them the area was safe; pups play outside the walls all the time. Tomorrow we could dig a temporary latrine on campus, but out of sight Arrjee and I were sure that Dad could have at least a semi-permanent structure built in just two or three days.

Arrjee knew where the cottage we would be staying at was, so we quickly dropped off Sun’s and Ferret’s weapons and shield there. We should have just left them behind the school at the end of training, but no one thought of it until after we left. There was no furniture or bedding in the cottage, so we’d need to get it better outfitted after our “reveals”.

With the 25 minutes allotted it was no problem taking care of business, making a couple of stops, getting some water, and heading back to arrive with minutes to spare. The other adults had returned before us, and were standing and talking within the meeting room. As we began coming in the door, they headed back to the seats they had used earlier. We did the same after various greetings.

Asiel drew us to order. “Welcome back. Before we recommence, does anyone have any questions or concerns?” || not expecting any, but it’s polite to ask

“Sir Asiel and Mayor,” Ferret announced, “Sun need a Trichyan outhouse.”

Well, Asiel had asked about concerns.

Adult eyes went to Sun, who explained the problem and typical Trichyan construction for such a facility. Dad said he would get further details from Sun tomorrow and have builders working on it by the end of the workday. That seemed to be the end of our immediate concerns.

Back to business, “Forrest Rhodes, you have seniority in age and level. Let us begin with you.” || relax, same as you witnessed six times

“Who are you?” || reveal

It was like a hyper-consciousness fell upon me, and I knew only part of it was from my boosted intelligence and wisdom. “I am Forrest Rhodes, four and one half days into my second life. The person I was before died from injuries suffered in fighting a fire.

extreme pain for months; wanted to die

He was human and lived 57 years on a planet with no interfaces and very little, if any, magic or ki.

Earth. He loved it.

I say ‘days’ for Forrest, but it has been weeks for everyone else. I only exist one day out of seven. During the other six I exist in a void, where time is compressed. I only experience two and a half hours.

but I chose this

While there, my Interface plays Chess or Think with me, and we talk.

oops, yes sapient

Then I spawn again, knowing that everyone else has experienced over half a week.”

as it will continue to be

“I am sort of a random person. My species, age, and classes were chosen with no clear goal. I wanted to be a martial artist who heals. The healing is the truest part of me. I could have chosen an easier path as a cleric, but a martial artist cannot be a cleric, and my Interface found this path for me.

not just interface; friend

I am someone who wants to help people, continuing on from where the former me left off.”

should be it

“There were some surprises there Forrest, but -”

“I am Jacques Liedestrar, Forrest’s original self. I am the one who Arrjee first met in the woods those days ago, and who Barrie and Rhonda also spoke with. I was so scared, so alone, so ignorant. They accepted me and befriended me, even though it was obvious to them I was the world’s worst liar. I told them I was ‘Forrest Rhodes’, but that was no more than a name. I was a 57-year old male Earth human in this 16-year old wolfman-man body.”

“Somehow, I don’t know how, a second spark of consciousness began to form as Arrjee, Rhonda, and I spoke. It coalesced into a second person. Do you remember, Arrjee and Rhonda? The formerly very proper, uptight Jacques thought it would be funny to make a sexual innuendo. It surprised Arrjee, and he declared, ‘Grandma! The alien is becoming a Covargh!’ He thought it was a joke, but it was literally true. From that point, I have been watching from his subconsciousness. Tell him Jack says he is doing great.”

I looked around. Everyone was staring at me, not speaking. I remember Asiel saying there were some surprises during my revelation, but then I can’t remember. I must have had a very odd or puzzled look on my face.

“Son,” Dad said, “Jack says to tell you that you are doing great.”

“Oh, crap.”

oh crap

Yes, oh crap. Jacques told them who he was, but he did not mention System or being an immortal.

Another mental voice spoke. “This is Skawa, no worries. However, I confess to being guilty of reading your mind. When Jacques announced who he was, I chose to exceed my normal bounds and run interference with Asiel’s reveal. No lies were told nor misleading omissions made. Jacques merely thought he said a couple of things which were not actually spoken. Also Jacques is not able to use Group Mind without Forrest’s active cooperation, so nothing leaked that way either.”

“Thank you, Skawa. In the event you feel the need to read my mind again, you have my consent. Was there any reason they cannot know I’m immortal, like my family does?”

“No,” Skawa responded. “My main goal was for Jacques not to reveal System or the galactic context of Heere’s history. I blocked the revelation of immorality only because it should be Forrest’s choice to inform people about it, not Jacques’.”

Asiel completed his earlier statement. “There were some surprises there, Forrest and Jacques, but surprises were not unexpected. However, that was the first time my Revelation skill acted on two consciousnesses in a single mind.” || bafflement

“We were aware you are unique, Forrest.” continued Orian. “Being dead as long as we have been has allowed us to develop an awareness of time and life beyond what we knew as living Skolturi. || normal for us now

When Asiel and I first met you and shook your hand we both sensed a contradiction. Our S Rank Analyze skills had already told us that you were an awakened, so it did not come as a surprise to sense many decades of life in the young teenager we shook with. || routine

But, simultaneously we sensed something else, something that felt … ancient.” || older than anything

Asiel continued, “When we had a chance to discuss you in private, we compared our impressions. ‘Ancient’ was not the right word to describe you. You are not ancient, but you feel that way to us. We decided that the better word describing this feeling would be ‘endless’.” || awe

“Yep, that word works.”

“I can explain. Grandma, Dad, Arrjee, and Onre already know, but everyone else, please keep what I say now to yourselves. I don’t want everyone who sees me to think, ‘freak’.”

self revelation

I paused for a moment and perceived a committed assent. Ferret was the first to state it. “I no tell your secrets, Forrest.” Everyone else verbally agreed.

“Okay, then. Two secrets. The smaller one relates to my interface. He is sapient. Grandma’s interface is interactive, but mine thinks, talks, senses everything I do, and occasionally, quite correctly and I believe fondly, calls me ‘dumbass’.”

respect, gratefulness, friendship

Asiel shared something of the Skolturi, “On reawakening dead, our interfaces became interactive also. A few of us were already unborn awakeneds, and they explained the differences they had observed between normal people’s mostly silent interfaces to what we have now. || old knowledge now

But even our greater-functionality interfaces would not play Think with us, nor Chess, whatever that is.” || wonder

“It is a board game from Earth, quite similar to Think. Interface, that’s what I call him, puts an image of the Think or Chess board in my mind, and we play almost as if there were physical pieces.”

calming, relaxing, skill gain in Tactics

“Okay, the big secret now. Asiel and Orian almost have it anyway. ‘Endless’ is a fitting description for an immortal like me.”

immortal

Yes, I expect Forrest to live a very long time, aging seven times slower than everyone else. But I will stop aging altogether once I reach 27, in what? 77 years for the rest of the world.

27 minus 16 equals 11. times 7 is 77

Yet Forrest will someday die. 300 years? 30,000? I don’t know. Eventually something will kill me, or after that many thousands of years, I might well decide to move on.”

not suicidal, but eventually enough would be enough

The Wraiths responded in group mind, simultaneously, || we understand

“When Forrest does die, Jacques will continue on, with Forrest’s memories added to his own. Since this is my first reincarnation, I don’t really know what having memories of more than two lives will be like, but eventually it will happen.

acceptance

Interface has explained that Jacques will then select a new species and new classes, a new name, and a starting age, in the exact manner that normal unborn awakeneds do.

that’s how Forrest happened

The difference is that I, or Jacques I should say, will be able to remember more than one life, while awakeneds cannot.

curiosity, expectation

The new me will start at Level 1 on some other world. I assume they will develop their own consciousness, just as Forrest did. But the memories of Jacques and Forrest will be theirs.

unknown but likely

For maybe another 30,000 years. Or 300, or 3. Then start over, repeat.

endless

Kossa broke my monologue, “Okay then, this is what we learned. Forrest is weird, but we like him.” That broke the tension and restored normality and some smiles to the meeting.

Asiel told us that if we were going to finish before it got very late, we needed to continue. “Forrest, and I mean just Forrest, not Jacques also, what do you hope to learn at the school?” || reveal

“Having the school will be perfect for my situation. I did not know how I could become proficient with my skills when I was only existing one day in seven. (I call them ‘Tuesdays’, by the way, the name of a day of the Earth’s seven-day week.)

answer the question!

I will be at a school that partially exists because a goddess took an interest in my Ki Healer class. I expect the school to give me the ongoing environment needed for eventually gaining expertise in both my martial and healing skills, and whatever else the masters and teachers believe I need to learn.

expectation, hope, of learning a lot

I’ll also have friends to support me. I’ll learn from them and our teachers about life on Heere, and observe how to be a mature, trustworthy, and honorable citizen of my community.

maybe hokey but true

“Forrest, no surprises that time. We look forward to having you as a student.” || welcome

As Asiel was speaking, I checked my attributes, and saw that my intelligence was now 20 and wisdom 23, down from their peaks of 30 and 33. Still nice. That will help Ki Regen too.

“Interface, display my gains from Revelation.”

Intelligence: 19 → 20

Wisdom: 22 → 23

Max Ki: 295 → 305

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Temperament: 203 → 208

Ki Regen: 274 → 279 ki/hour

sorry inattentive; talking with Interface

Orian ignored that thought, and stated, “I was surprised by the seven-day week, but it does add context to Forrest’s unique nature.” || curiosity somewhat assuaged

----------------------------------------

“Kossa Smithson, you may not be full of secrets like Forrest, but I am sure what you say will be important. Who are you?” || reveal

I witnessed her achieve that more focused consciousness everyone else has gotten. “I am a mostly human girl who grew up happily among Humans, Covargh, and every mixture in between. My family is from the Fourth Duchy, where it is more normal than not to have hybrid parents. My Mom Kella is almost fully human, and my Dad, not my Dad Mista, but my biological Dad Drake, was one quarter Covargh. He was a Bard and Telepath. We moved to Cottages after Drake died; that happened while hiking mountain trails. He slipped into a deep crevasse. That’s why we moved here. We wanted to get away from those memories. We had heard the Fifth Duchy is also very open about hybrids, and that is true. Thank you for accepting us.“

“I am sure Cottages is pleased your family chose this as your home. Looking to the future, what do you hope to learn at the school?” || reveal

“Barding is the most important thing for me right now. I have not yet decided on my second class, but I’ll definitely want to focus a lot on that as well. Of course I plan to have friendships with a large number of people and learn from them, intellectually and physically. I’m excited about adventuring too, and seeing more of the world. I’ve seen the ocean, mountains, and forests, but I’m really curious about dungeons.”

Asiel responded, “You should have many opportunities to see the world and interact with others || fun adventures, but cautious too

Just as he said that, I received notice that Group Mind had advanced to Rank E. The others with the skill must have sensed it, because I saw Arrjee and the two Skolturi smile at me. Sun patted me on the back.

thank you

“Ferret Drewson, let us get you next.” || alternating from one side of younglings to other

His group mind thoughts were no longer a whisper;it had become a low-volume voice. I could see Ferret shift nervously from the corner of my eye.

“Who are you?” || reveal

There were several seconds of silence. I can only imagine what the hyper-consciousness felt like to him. He is temporarily at 17 intelligence and wisdom, after starting out this morning at 5. Tripled, geez.

He spoke slowly, as if considering each word. Not every word was enunciated perfectly, but his grammar was spotless. “I am Ferret Drewson, primitive and former outcast. I was extremely fortunate to encounter Evening Sun in that nomad tent many days ago. I likely would have died without his friendship and assistance. I admit, I still like shiny things, but I no longer assume anything shiny is mine. My attraction to the shiny could have cost both of us our lives. Sun, I apologize.”

“I had thought when my parents gave me up that they hated me. Now I see their tribe could not afford a member who not only failed to be productive, but who required constant supervision as well. I wish I could apologize to them, too. Now I am someone else, and I do not know who that is yet.”

I heard muffled sniffles, and turned to see him crying. Sun had placed two arms around him in a hug, and I added one of my own. Arrjee, sitting at Ferret’s other side, did the same, and Kossa and Onre got up to comfort him as well. We all stood, backed away from the table, and formed a group hug. Soon everyone was up to help console him.

After about two minutes we were all seated again. Asiel stated, “Thank you Ferret. We plan on helping you find out who you are.” || moved, committed

“What do you hope to learn at the school?” || reveal

“I don’t know. Everything I can, really, but I do not know what there is. I have always wanted to read. Books are amazing, filled with thoughts and stories, but all outside my reach. Then there were the hours Sun spent with me, trying to teach me Analyze and Meditate, It was very important to him that I learn them, and I wanted to, but I just could not. Becoming an adventurer has been a dream, but I see it can be a reality now. I know I will choose two classes, but I have no idea what. Now, though, I realize that my life is no longer in existing for a day, just today, but many tomorrows too. I hope to learn for tomorrow.”

Asiel gave us a few seconds to think about Ferret’s words. Ferret himself realized something. “Sir Asiel, I got too much. Was 5, should just be 6 intelligence and wisdom, right? Have 8. I’m sorry, I’ll give extra back.”

Asiel and Orian both looked puzzled, and no one seemed to know what to think.

“Skawa, can I tell everyone about the boons?”

“Of course, The fact that gods give boons is no secret, and knowing how he got to 8 should help settle Ferret’s fears.

“Excuse me,” I began aloud, “I know how Ferret’s attributes are at 8 now.”

good, not concerning

“Skawa has spoken to me several times this evening, in my mind. “

he does that

He informed me earlier that both Einvigi and he had granted boons to Ferret this morning.”

favors

“Both granted him 1 point of intelligence and wisdom. So he started his Revelation at 7 in each, not 5.

happiness that they helped

I should have known Ferret would ask, “Why you not tell me? Why they tell you, not me?”

“Skawa told me during training, when you told Master Trillet you had not been able to learn Analyze and Meditation. He was letting me know you could learn them now.

awkward in new context

I didn’t tell you because I don’t know what I can reveal to others when Skawa tells me something privately.

regret, confusion, ignorance

I just asked him a few seconds ago if it was okay to tell everyone, and he said it was.”

yes, so far a lot of contact with gods

At that point, I felt the presence of Skawa’s absence, letting me know he was no longer in my mind. We heard some tromping outside the room, as if there were an elephant or huge gorilla approaching us. The door opened, and of course it was Skawa, in his Trichyan stuffed-doll form. He tromped up to Sun, jumped onto one of his shoulders, then onto the table in front of Ferret. He landed softly, turned slightly, and sat in the 3-legged Trichyan fashion, turning his head so his main face looked upon the young emergent.

He did not use god-voice, but he spoke loudly enough for everyone to clearly hear. “Young Ferret, gods grant boons frequently to people all over the world without informing them. I granted my boons to you while you were in the cold cave, and Einvigi granted hers a little later, once you were with Arrjee and Forrest. Einvigi and I had not discussed boosting you; we both chose to do so independently. I did not know you would gain another point in intelligence and wisdom from Reveal. Einvigi probably knew that her personally selected administrator would use it on you sometime, though.”

“We are all pleased that you need not feel lesser to others now. Intellectually you are absolutely normal for an unleveled teen. Depending on your classes, you will continue to gain more intelligence and wisdom. And the dumbass on your left, Forrest, not Sun, could have told you any time this afternoon. Deep down I believe he thinks one of the gods will punish him for a slight mistake, so he keeps secrets that were never secret to begin with.”

He turned his head to face me, “Unless I say something is a secret, it is not.” He stood and faced Asiel, Orian, and the Mayor, “We are expecting a lot from this school, and we trust that you will strive to build an example for others, eventually the whole world.”

Then he took a tour around the edge of the table, looking each one of us in the eye as he did so. His articulated movements were just like a mini-Sun would have done. When he completed his rounds, he walked to the center of the table, waved goodbye, and said that it was a nice table.. At that point, he, well, sort of melted, Wicked Witch of the West style, but happily. The remnant ooze spread evenly over its entire surface and its edges and became a second layer of lacquer.

I’m not sure they’ll need any more layers.

I believe a regular layer plus a god layer should be more than sufficient.

On the verge of tears, Ferret asked, “Is he okay?”

Orian answered, “Yes. Don’t worry, son. Scamp, I mean Skawa, is well known for making unique exits. This is one of the best I have seen, and the school gained a unique table top. I will not be surprised if he can hear all deliberations at this table from this point forward.”

“I’ll make sure the carpenters know the table is finished,” said Dad. “As if they can’t tell by looking at it.”

“Let us continue. It is already past 18.” || mortals need sleep

Onre Litman, who are you?” || reveal

“I am a three-time orphan, although I barely remember my original parents. They were murdered when I was five due to some stupid gang war in the city of Cycles, First Duchy. I was rescued by the Sholut family – their daughter Niscus was a friend of mine – and by Daddy Large. He was head of the gang opposing The Grease, and he sheltered the Sholuts and me. I was the one who discovered my parents dead and mutilated bodies, and in horror and fear I made it back to the Sholut’s apartment. Most of this is from what the Sholut’s related to me later; I don’t remember it, even with this buffed intelligence. I went into shock at the Sholuts. Daddy Large took us all in at his estate and had an experienced Cleric and Empath heal my mind. I understand it took many days, and since I was just five I probably would not remember much of it now even without the shock.”

“The empathic healer, Bren Statz, became my foster father. Because Daddy Large felt I would not be safe in Cycles, we lived in Bren’s home in the village of Circles. Four years later, the gang war started up again, and The Grease still wanted me dead. They found us and murdered Bren, but before he died, he killed his assailant. Have you ever seen anyone healed to death? It is pretty gruesome, something I will never forget.“

“Healed to death?”

Too much of anything can become bad. It’s possible a high-level cleric like Bren was able to freeze his assailant's mind with empathy while overhealing him to the point of transforming into a sticky, cancerous blob of flesh. It might have exploded at the end.

“Thanks for that mental image.”

You asked.

“The Sholut’s arranged for me to live with distant relatives of theirs on a farm, but their two kids resented me. Two years later the parents arranged for me to become a student at The First Duchy’s Adventuring Academy. I was a cadet there for two years before Einvigi brought me here, ostensibly to help her test Forrest’s Ki Healer class. Like many in the First Duchy, I had grown up thinking that hybrids are disgusting, awful people – exactly what Kossa’s family wanted to avoid in moving here. But Einvigi, Arrjee, Forrest, and Rhonda aided me in abandoning that bias. I admit to being someone who still feels it occasionally, but when the feelings arise, I am aware enough now to actively fight them.”

“That is more than most people reveal, “ stated Asiel after a few seconds of silence, “but you must have needed us all to understand you.” || him:success

“Your hardships are unusual but not unique. Such things are always worthwhile to share honestly among friends.” || thank you

“Now, what do you hope to learn at the school?” || reveal

“My original plan was to become a bard like my father. But on seeing and experiencing Forrest’s Ki Healer skills, the first two anyway, I decided that one of my classes would be Ki Healer, which meant that if I wanted to be a bard, it would be a non-magical one. Forrest and Interface helped me choose a class I had never heard of before, Ki Prestidigitator. My Dad had been both a Bard and non-magical Prestidigitator, so I can still keep part of his legacy. Besides developing my class skills, I want to learn some martial capabilities so I can directly help my teammates in a fight, and give me even more options when I am alone. And I expect to learn many things I do not even know of yet, just as Ferret hopes to do. I can choose my classes in a week and a half, 20 Fifthmonth.”

“Woah, that’s three birthdays I have heard without even asking. Can you record those?

Already done.

Notebook entries, Forrest Rhodes:

* “Hatred begins at the seed of ignorance.”, Barrie Silverstone

* IIM E467-23.2B,JacquesLeidestrar: 1 on 22 Thirdmonth 769 (Heere years)

* Evening Sun: 14 on 30 Fifthmonth 768

* Ferret Drewson: 13 on 17 Seventhmonth 768

* Onre Litman: 15 on 20 Fifthmonth 768

“Has anyone ever told you that you are very efficient?”

It is unnecessary to state the obvious.

“Will you get classes on your birthday?”

No. I just added the date right now for consistency.

“What is your birthday in galactic years?”

16.178. Today is 15.225. There are 654 galactic days per galactic year, and about two Heere years per galactic year.

|| reveal

The mental command brought my attention back to the room. Arrjee began speaking. “I am Arrjee Silverstone, a born awakened. I don’t believe I have a second consciousness like Forrest does, at least not any more, but we’ll see. || curiosity

My first self, who was a large ant, a member of a species just beginning its sapience. We had a Hive Mind, which is how I ended up with the nascent skill Group Mind at Rank C. The skills were ‘close enough’, I guess. || satisfaction, gratefulness

I spent a large amount of my free time learning from a nearby village of what I believe now were lizardmen. We did not have classes or interfaces, and I don’t think the lizardmen had them either. But they sort of befriended me, teaching me things, but never trying to trap me or hurt me. || ‘friend’ an unknown concept at time

They gave me a name, I don’t know what it means if anything, but it sounds sort of like ‘More’. My family sometimes refer to me as ‘Arrjee More’ when they reference both my lives. || appreciation at occasional full acknowledgement.

Anyway, due to the very limited life available to ants at the time, being born as a Covargh became a revelation. Arrjee became aware of More’s memories, and even a remnant consciousness, somewhere past two years of age. || wonder

“More’s curiosity about everything, yet in a very limited life, developed into a drive for achievement in Arrjee.” || seize on everything

Asiel waited about five seconds to see if More would speak. They did not. “Thank you, Arrjee More. Arrjee, what do you hope to learn at the school?” || reveal

“Master Trillet has already taught me a lot about Basic Swordsmanship, and Teacher Marson over the years has given me a broad basis of knowledge. I’ve learned a lot from Master Thorm as well. My parents have been doing an excellent job in making sure I have the capabilities to be an asset to any community. So I feel I will begin Adventuring School with a high degree of readiness. || thankful

I’ll be leveled before school begins, on 6 Seventhmonth, about a week before Ferret. || weird coincidence?

I know one of my classes will be Swordsmaster. I think the other will be a mage class so I can function as a swordmage, but I don’t know what kind. I might even choose a cleric class, not Ki Healer, though. As a Ki swordsman I would lose the possibility of ranged sword attacks such as Distant Blade. || feels like too many options

So one thing I hope for is suggestions on what my second class should be. Once school begins, I plan on taking advantage of every opportunity available, within the time I have. Adventuring with trusted friends will be fun!” || happy expectation

“I hope that all our students find it so.” you should

Sun, I expected both you and Forrest to have surprises for us, which is one reason I chose you two for first and last. Evening Sun, who are you? || reveal

“Self-outcast I.” || I outcasted myself from my family and society.

“It month ago I did.” || I did it one month ago with anguish.

“Me family and school taught.” || My family and school taught me a lot.

“But different I.” || I am different, but didn’t want to be.

“Triples Trichyans live.” || We Trichyans usually live in triples.

“Three people, three sexes.” || Since we have three sexes, we live in threes, plus children.

“-- I – ” || shame

“Penetration I dislike.” || I hate to be penetrated.

“Four penetrations each mating has”. || We normally get penetrated four times per mating.

“Dislike I hide not.” || I cannot hide my dislike.

“‘Weird’, ‘pity’, ‘disgust’ they feel.” || They feel I’m weird, they pity me, and I disgust some.

“Always, every day.” || I felt the thoughts from almost everyone, every day.

“Home I left.” || I left home; I could not take the constant thoughts about me being different.

“Fine, alone, cold I.” || I was fine alone, even in the cold.

“Better.” || It was better than fighting constant negative thoughts.

“Ferret came. Friends we became.” || Ferret came and we became friends.

Me Ferret judge not. || Ferret never judged me; instead he trusted me.

“Us Einvigi and Skawa save.” || Einvigi and Skawa saved us.

“Here I learn, grow.” || I can learn and grow here.

“Here I like.” || I like it here, and I am happy.

“Here I belong.” || I truly feel like I belong here.

“You I thank.” || Thank you everyone, very, very much.

It was Ferret and my turn to twist a little so we could hug Sun. As before, everyone got up to show that we supported and appreciated them. Group mind was a bath of assurance and love, including mine. The same was said and repeated vocally numerous times. After a time, we returned to our seats. We knew there was one remaining question.

“What do you hope to learn at the school?” || reveal

“Tank I” || I wish to learn how to be an excellent tank.

“Guardian and Armsman classes I take.” || The Guardsman and Armsman classes seem the best to take for that.

“Team three arms defend.” || My three arms are ideal for providing melee defense to a team.

“Bipeds I learn.” || I also want to learn as much as I can from and about bipeds.

“Opportunity I have.” || I am very grateful for this unique opportunity.

“Anxious adventure I” || I am also looking forward to adventuring.

It was clear they were done. I turned and asked them, “Sun, have you heard of the class Defensive Armsman?”
