‘Fate has a strange way of enforcing itself, forever strengthening itself’
----------------------------------------
As vague as his memories of the last week are, everything about that time felt wrong.
With every sense of loss and disbeleef he seemed to distance himself more and more from ... wel himself.
In the end, nothing was left behind but pure instinct.
Quick on his feet and wanting to avoid another crayon being thrown at his head he just avoided the conflict wit the question that was on the top of his head.
"What is wrong with people when they are dead?" David asked.
The Teacher took his question as a sign he was paying attention after all and started with his explanation.
Well, that's a bit outside of the basic's, but I guess it could not hurt
First of all, In this village you don't have to worry about being killed in the dungeon.
Our guardian spirit will displace you, and no harm will come to you.
You just are not quite 'there' anymore, but are also still fully intact.
If you were to be killed far away from the village, now that's another story.
Your body will actually gain the wounds and remain there, but your spirit wil separate from the body.
What happens next depends on the person.
If they died a peaceful death,
they may just take one last look at their body and walk of towards their new destiny.
In case of a traumatic death,
a tranquility comes over the ghost in order to help find closure.
Looking around at his classmates a second question comes from David.
"Tranquility is almost the same as emotionless, isn't that wrong?"
You have to uderstand that in order to be reborn you have to let go of your attachments to this life.
People are born without resentment from a past life.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Only people who cannot find closure hold on to their feeling as a dead.
Abominations like the (Wheeping widdow) come from that.
When the day arrives that you are [Dead] I strongly advise you ro remain calm if you want to walk to your new destiny remotely resembling your former self.
----------------------------------------
Overthinking everything, David arrives inside of his mind palace.
As he quickly rushed out of the first room, he sat down.
He needed some time to think about this, and as luck would have it, time did not exist here.
David could see what the teacher's tried to tell him.
Going over everything that happended after he [Died] he was able to come to a conclusion.
Clearly he needed to face his fears if he wanted to remain in control of himself.
> Before he died he was in a state of panic, trying desperately to get away.
> After his death, he was so calm and in no rush to find out which arrow killed the body.
>
> As soon as he had closure, only the new destiny, farming, was on his mind.
>
> When he did not want to go through his mind palace out of fear of the first room,
> he walked through the room without pauze.
>
> When he was afraid for his classmates, their lives did not matter to him anymore.
> He could see how those [Dead] would stop at nothing to reach their goal.
----------------------------------------
Sitting on the stones in the statue room for quite some time David set a few priorities for himself.
-Don't become [Dead] or at least face my fears
-Save my classmates.
He did not really see a step by step plan to not become [Dead], so he had to face his fears.
Preparing himself for one of his biggers fears, he put his hand on the first door and took a deep breath.
Opening it ever so slightly, he peeked inside, ready to close the door again at a moments notice.
Staring at the wolf eventually became quite boring. In fact, he could just sit here and think of other things and everything even calmed down.
Only when he actually tried to check up on the phantoms did they start to move around again.
It seemed that he could sit here forever, but the wolf actually never caught anyone.
The invisible wall never got broken.
The creatures in the mist never came out.
...
----------------------------------------
What did change was his plans for when he became a dungeon.
Ready to double down and execute his plans, he got up and went to pick the same class.
He did not need to search for a long time.
It was the second biggest phanotom in the room, and he could spot the farming phantom from afar.
He was still sure this phantom David gathering berries and plucking mushrooms was the one.
Seeting the white fungi in the dungeon below, he confimed his choise.
