Book 1 : The lock, chapter 08 : The Hoe

As soon as the teacher started talking about the dungeon being dormant I was able to sneak away. Being the youngest and smallest I could usually get away with it

This time is not any different and timing dive into the wagon with the sound of the whip I was able to sneak in Without the farmer hearing a thing.

Not having planned on anyone being inside, I am still laying on the wagon's floor when I freeze up under the stare at the farmer's wife. The silence stretched on while I see her tapping the back of her husband. Even when he is curiously looking over I could not think of anything to say.

Answering a few questions just made things worse, it seems their son Oliver is in the same class as me and they knew I would be unlocking my [class] today.

----------------------------------------

Holding Oliver's Hoe I wave the farmer's goodbye

The teacher walk out from around the corner and seems confused how I got in front of the group. After a sigh I silently watch the farmer's wagon disappear, and bury my plans for a great escape.

Having seen me talk to his parents Oliver comes running from the back towards me. He seemed genuinely happy to talk about how nice his parents were and how he really needed that Hoe to have a good chance at getting [farmer].

I never knew how weird the [farmer] class was and how you could make your favourite plants grow all over the place

----------------------------------------

Thinking of how Oliver normally doesn't get the [farmer] class I start to think of the other class mates.

Ben is already walking to the first ant while I try to remember what will happen.

He would keep hitting the citin plate until the teacher has to step in.

Surely he could get to knight with some help? "There is no way you can hit through it's plate" I whisper as he passes by.

He looks back at me and scoffs, then jumps towards the ant and slams his shield into the mandibles and while the ant is chewing on his shield he sticks his sword multiple times in the ants head. Just like before the ant gets through the shield.

What happens next has me in shock though. with the teacher whispering [guide] Ben drops his shield and slams the ant down with the pommel of his blade. The follow up was wat really got to me. Using 2 hands he kept hitting the hardest part of the ant until it caved in.

With a smug smile he looks at us but starts cursing as he looks at his [Barbarian] class.

The teacher did not congratulate Ben this time, and with a somber mood the next person gets called.

----------------------------------------

Not having dared to change anything else I found my courage again when Oliver got the [Apprentice farmer] class that he wanted.

"I want to be a [Fire mage]" shouted Amelia.

As the last one before me, if I wanted to try anything at all, I had to think of something fast.

I tried to think of a way to better handle burning ants running to you, and I just could not think of anything.

"How do you handle burning ants?" I thought out loud.

She must have heard me say something, as she stopped and looked straight at me for a second.

As if repeating something she heard a 1000 times, she threw the potion while mumbling

"How do you handle fire? You go straight though it!!!".

You just have to be not all there to keep a burning, trashing dungon boss pushed against a wall with a stick while shouting "Staight though". She did not get [fire mage] but [Pyromania]

She seemed really happy about that and started juggeling with a bunch of flames to celebrate.

"Just like her grandfather, the head of her house" our teacher whisperded.
