Book 1 : The lock, chapter 14 : Capricious

In contrast to a few seconds ago, nothing in me screemed to make a run for it.

In the abrupt mood swing I became facinated by the boy I front of me, and ignore the pull that's drawing me backards.

Slowly looking over the body I make a sport out of finding all the fatal wounds.

The shot though the stomach is a maybe, I'm not sure if it hit anything important.

Ignoring a few of the arows in the arm's and leg's I linger on the one in the heart.

Even if this one did not go straight though, it was a good contender for the best shot.

Giving it some thought my final vote goes to the one in the eye socket.

Causing an instant kill was the deciding factor here.

Sadly my investigation is cut short as I am start to loose my fight against the pull.

Strangly satisfied to know that the arrow in the skull was what killed the shapechanger I let go.

First I tried my best not to get sucked into the core again, knowing that I would arrive in my soul palace.

But then, capricious, and as if guided by a siren's song I close my eyes in anticipation of entering the core.

When I open my eyes I am facinated by the changes in this room.

Having a giant phantom no longer in front, but to the left side of the exit was a big improvement.

This moved the smalled onces like the wolf and invicible holding cell over behind me.

The best thing about this was how convenient and straight this made my path towards the exit.

As I exit the room my eyes linger on the new big running phantom on the right side of the door.

Midrun something seems to fly into the phanotom. A part of it still running forward and truning around , another part stuck in place.

Looking at the phantom was a mistake.

In doing so the perception of my end goal became muddy and destorted.

Luckely the feeling subsist as soon as I turned back to my goal.

Just like the room where I woke up, the class room received a major renovation.

Even if some were bigger then last time, most of the phantom dungeon's were nearly identical

It's the lack of phantom me's above the dungeon's that stuck me as odd.

Without the phantom me above the dungeon I coudn't really make the difference between most of them. I could only recognise my last choise because it was right in the middle and 10 times bigger then the others.

It was clear to me that would have never found this tiny phantom

in the corner if it did not call out to me like this.

No matter how tiny and transparent it was compared to some of the others,

it was quite distinct and almost seemed to call out to me.

Unlike the others,

the strange structures of white fungi on the dungeon's halls had an otherworthly beauty to it.

----------------------------------------

When I open my eyes, I started of as usual.

No way out behind me. The smaller tunnel to the left and the main tunnel easily guarded by my ant.

My single (Blade ant) did not pick up any new tricks, but was just as effective as usual.

Eager to move on, intruder after intruder keep me from attaining my vision.

Forced to take a backseat, I take my time to hatch a scheme.

...

With every breaf pauze in between ants I listen carefully for the sounds of my classmates in the distance. Once more their sounds marked the arrival of a scared (Deer) with some scorched fur.

Making sure the (Blade ant) blocked the way to my core,

the frantic (Deer) could only take a sharp turn towards the empty tunnel.

Not that far away, in between the rubble from the cave in, the (Deer) collapsed.

A slight brush against the razor sharp carapace the source of it's demise.

Three ants block the entrance of my core room now, the one in the middle a size larger and red.

Close by, in the left tunnel a (Stag) slowly pushes more and more rubble on top of the dead deer.

Far in the distance I see my classmates at a junction.

One of them looks at the (Deer)'s tracks and points in my direction.

I fear what will happen if my friends enter my dungeon ...

No ... I don't fear that do I, I just need to farm ?
