It had been two days since the civil war ended and Davis’s death. The remainder of the rebel fleet and the victorious Dominion fleet returned to Korhal.
Jean was laying on a hospital bed with white sheets. Her face was as pale as the sheet below her, but that was mostly due to her actions of suppressing her body’s mending ability. Otherwise that tiny wound on her stomach would heal in minutes. However, she needed to be a normal human being.
The door opened, and Jean looked up to see Nova entering the room. She silently psionically scanned the surrounding. No one was spying on them. The area was secure.
“What did Valerian say?” Jean asked quietly. The tired look on her face disappeared and was replaced by a standard Jean expression. SInce Jean was wounded Nova was sent to Valerian to report.
“He’s not exactly happy with Davis dead, but there’s nothing he can do. After all Davis started it.” Nova leaned to a wall and tilted her head.
“Good, and the fleet?” The Dominion fleet had suffered heavy losses. It was being once again merged with the rebel fleet, but even the rebel fleet was battered. Jean wondered how many ships were left in total. The strength of the Dominion fleet was directly related to her ability to strike Shakurus and thus her ability to defeat Amon.
“Over two hundred capital ships are lost. Most of the fleet only have half the ammunition and three fourth the fighters left. 85% of the six hundred battlecruisers that survived are wounded. 34 Gorgons are left. All of the ships are currently being repaired in shipyards.” Nova observed Jean’s expression as she announced the bad news. “It will take a while to get the fleet back to battle condition. Even then it will not be as strong as it once was.”
“We can’t wait too long. It will just be a matter of time before the Golden Armada defeats the Swarm.” Jean said with concern as she touched her chin.
Nova frowned. Jean noticed the frown and knew it was time to tell the agent more.
“Now that you have decided to join me, I need to tell you some of my secrets...” Jean smiled and told Nova everything. She told Nova about her mission to terminate Amon and all of her planning to do so. She told her about Nyon and her plan to use the Dominion fleet. She even hinted on the presence of the Supreme One that sent her here.
Nova stood in awe after Jean’s explanation. “So let me be clear. Someone sent you here to kill someone? Once you’re done you’ll leave this sector?”
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“First, not just someone, a Xel’naga.”
“Xel’naga?” Nova asked, completely confused.
“The Xel’naga created the zerg and the protoss.” Jean explained as clearly as possible.
“Wow.” Nova wasn’t someone that gets shocked easily, but this time she was really surprised. What type of being was powerful enough to create two of the most powerful alien races in the sector? “And you’re planning to kill him?”
“It could be a her, but yes, in this case it is a him.” Jean joked. The joke wasn’t for fun. It was to ease Nova from the more than shocking news she just told the ghost. Nova grinned widely. Jean continued. “And, to your second point, I am not just leaving this sector but rather leaving this world.”
“And I want you to join me in my journey.”
Nova coughed to hide her surprise. “Why me?”
“You are the best ghost agent in the entire Dominion. Your skill in both combat and command is much better than mine. With you by my side we can be victorious.” Jean smiled confidently. Nova stood thoughtfully. “Plus, why would you want to stay here? You have no family. You have no lover. You have no friends.” Her words were straightforward, but Nova knew Jean was telling the truth.
Nova’s family died years ago. She spent her childhood as a ghost trainee. For her entire life Nova had been following orders. This was because of the inhibitor chip, but it didn’t change the fact that Nova was used to serving someone. If Jean wasn’t here she would serve Mengsk, but now that Jean had opened up a brand new door…
“Can you bring living beings on your trip?” Nova was practically saying yes to the offer.
“No.” Jean answered to Nova’s complete surprise. "But I have a plan.” Nova looked at Jean, waiting for an answer.
Jean silently took her patient clothes off and revealed large pieces of bare skin, surprising Nova, who turned around quickly.
“Come on, I need you to see this with your own eyes.” Jean rose her eyebrows as the female ghost was surprisingly nervous at her bare body. Nova turned around slowly to face Jean. Her face slightly red as if she was blushing. It was unlikely for someone trained in the art of killing to blush so easily, but Nova was indeed nervous.
“Whatever you want to show me do it now.” She demanded.
Jean tapped her invisible watch, and Nova frowned as Jean’s body was covered by a layer of specialized suit. One moment there wasn’t anything on her skin. The next moment a layer was covering every inch of her body.
“This watch, which only I can see and touch, can store non-living things.” Jean stepped down from the bed, all geared up. “My plan is this. When I leave, I will store your thoughts separately as an AI when I leave and put your lifeless body in stasis. When I arrive at my next world I will restore your thoughts to your body.”
“Terran technologies can do that?” Nova doubted.
“No, but protoss technologies can.” Jean straightened her suit. “Purifier technology, especially.”
“Where can we get Purifier technology?”
“Cybros. Endion.” Jean held her right hand out to Nova. “Shall we?”
Nova stood for a few seconds before holding onto Jean’s hand.
