Supreme Elder

Upon arriving at the Whiteheart estate, I couldn't help but marvel at its grandeur. The mansion was an elegant structure, surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens. It radiated an air of authority and tradition.

Sebastian led me to the entrance, where two guards stood at attention. They greeted him with a nod and opened the large oak doors to allow us entry. The inside of the mansion was even more impressive, with high ceilings, polished marble floors, and ornate decorations. Waiting for us was a tall man with golden hair who introduced himself as Jonathan, the butler of the Whiteheart estate.

"This is not fair. How come everyone I meet is handsome?" I thought to myself. My plan was actually simple: go to Vivia and claim to be sent by the elders without specifying which elder. This will buy me time because I know they will try to investigate which elder is backing me up. Whether this meeting will succeed or not, in the eyes of the revolution, they will think the Supreme Elder is my backer. This will buy me some time to come up with Plan B, before she realizes I fooled her. Oh yes, let me use Mimic on my status. What if the Supreme Elder has an identify or similar skill?

Jonathan bowed gracefully towards us and asked us to follow him.

"Please, have a seat," Jonathan said, gesturing to a luxurious sitting area. "I will inform the Supreme Elder of your arrival."

As he left, I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. Meeting the Supreme Elder was a significant event, and I needed to make a good impression. I had to be prepared for anything.

A few minutes later, Jonathan returned. "The Supreme Elder will see you now. Please, follow me."

He led me through a series of corridors until we reached a large double door. He knocked softly, and a voice from inside beckoned us to enter. As the doors swung open, I saw a beautiful elf seated behind an ornate desk. Her presence was commanding, her eyes sharp and piercing.

Is she wearing glasses? I thought to myself. Damn, she looks like those CEO ladies from romance mangas.

"Welcome, Elfan," she said, her voice calm yet authoritative. "Please, take a seat."

I did as instructed, sitting down across from her. "Thank you for seeing me, Supreme Elder."

She nodded. "I was informed by House Aceso that you wanted to meet with me, correct? So, how can I help you?"

House Aceso? What is she talking about? Whatever, let's just play along.

"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. My name is Elfan from Eldorado. I have a proposal on how to stop the power struggle between the Eclipse and Adams families."

"Ha haha," she started laughing. "Oh, since you have a solution, why not implement it then? Why come to me?"

"Please forgive my forwardness, Supreme Elder. However, I think ideals are dangerous without real power. If I implement my ideas without the support and backing of influential people, I might end up being charged with treason."

"Hahaha, I am beginning to like you. Now I see why the Aceso family supports you."

She stood up from her chair. Oh my goodness, look at that figure. Her long legs, curves—wow. Can I please touch, please, please? She walked around the table and stood behind me, leaning towards my head. She smells so nice. Ms. CEO, please hire me into your company.

"You have my attention. Let's hear your solution."

"First of all, we cut support from the Eclipse family, which is the revolution. Since the Eclipse family is not a military family, this will affect their strength."

"Oh..."

"The Adams family specializes in trade, and that is how they make their money. With that money, they hire more soldiers. So, to slow them down, we will implement a tax law."

"Tax law?"

"You will implement a law that requires merchants to pay taxes on every trade they make, of course, when they trade with other big families or big businesses."

"..."

Hey, why are you quiet? Say something already.

"This will not slow them down completely; however, it will put them in check. Both families will be wary of the council and will think before they act."

"I see, but what will you benefit from this?"

"My father will be able to go back home, and you will pick your candidate for the throne. Win-win, yes?"

She started to move her fingers softly and touched my cheek.

"Now I see why she has high hopes for you, even though her plan is different from yours."

She? Who is she?

"You did say ideals without power are dangerous. Do you have the power?" Suddenly, the pressure increased. I only came here to talk, please stop this.

"Oh, you didn't even flinch when I released my mana! I am starting to like you even more, boy."

Wait, I was supposed to act scared?

"Let's make a bet. Let's have a duel, and if you win, I will consider your suggestion and guarantee the safety of your father. However, if you lose," she leaned really close to me and whispered into my ear, "you will become my pet."

Say what?
