I can't watch anymore. I need to take responsibility as a leader. Let me go and beg Elzaran.
Nymph flew over the border towns and was shocked by the changes and the clean environment. "The air is so clean," she noted. It was winter, one of the harsher seasons for the people living near the sea, yet they were happy and living in harmony. "Maybe Elzaran finally overcame her grief."
She flew from town to town, and while each was different, the people were universally content. This reminded her of the times of King Elfon and Queen Elzaran. Arriving in the afternoon in the royal capital of Rivendell, she laid her eyes on the massive, dried Yggdrasil tree. "Let me go to the palace and get this over with."
"Good day," Nymph said, suddenly appearing and greeting the elf before her.
"Whoa, you scared me! A fairy?"
"Yes, I am a fairy. So what? Bring me to Elzaran!" demanded Nymph.
"Elzaran? I’m sorry, the Elzaran family no longer rules this country. If you seek them, you can find them at House Vermillion."
"Elzaran family? House Vermillion?" Nymph tilted her head in confusion.
"My name is Adaline. I work at the palace. I can arrange for someone to guide you to House Vermillion," offered Adaline.
Adaline was a beautiful dark elf working at the palace.
"I want to speak with whoever is in charge here!" declared Nymph.
"Then you must meet Her Highness, the queen of this country," replied Adaline.
The queen, different from Elzaran? Let's see who this queen is.
"Yes, please let me meet her," said Nymph.
"Please follow me," said Adaline with a smile.
Nymph followed Adaline until they reached a beautiful high elf.
"This is Ms. Sana Aceso. She will assist you," said Adaline with a smile.
"Thank you, Ms. Adaline," Nymph then turned to Sana. "My name is Sana Aceso. How may I help you?" said Sana with a kind smile.
"Can I please meet your leader?" asked Nymph.
"Do you have an appointment?" asked Sana.
"No," said Nymph.
"What is the nature of your visit?" inquired Sana.
"Yggdrasil. As fairies, we care for the tree," explained Nymph.
Understanding that the matter of Yggdrasil was beyond her, Sana had no choice but to lead Nymph to the queen. "Please follow me."
Knock, knock.
"Honey, I don't recall us having a meeting," said Leona.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Maybe it's news regarding the war," said Elfan.
"Come in," said Anna.
Eli was not around; she was working with the Blue Blazers to deliver supplies to the border towns.
The door opened, and Sana entered with what appeared to be a bug.
As soon as the fairy entered the room, she rushed towards Elfan, stood before his face, and shouted, "Elfon, how dare you disappear! We thought you were dead!"
"Sana, who is this bug? Go get my insect repellent," said Elfan.
"Who are you calling a bug, you idiot?" said Nymph.
"This bug can talk!" Elfan exclaimed.
Nymph started throwing punches in the air. "Do you want a piece of me? Huh?" she challenged.
"Ms. Fairy, what did you call my husband?" asked Leona with a confused expression.
"Your husband? Do you want Elzaran to kill you?" said Nymph.
"Ms. Bug, I think you are mistaken. I am Elfan, not Elfon," said Elfan.
"Mhm, now that you mention it, why are you pretending to be a dark elf?" asked Nymph, confused.
"I was born a dark elf," said Elfan.
"Stop playing around. Anyway, where is Elzaran? After you disappeared, she couldn't accept it and..."
"Who is Elzaran? Do you mean people from the Elzaran family?" asked Elfan.
"Your wife, stupid!"
The room felt cold, and a murderous intent filled the air.
"Shut up! Are you trying to get me killed?" shouted Elfan.
"Honey, I would never hurt you, but do you have another wife that I don't know of?" asked Leona with a kind smile but deadly eyes.
"I don't know what Ms. Bug is talking about," said Elfan, panicking.
"Your Highness, this is Nymph. She came here regarding Yggdrasil," explained Sana.
"Ah yes, I was thinking of cutting that oversized tree and turning it into wood for the border towns," said Elfan.
"How dare you think of touching the sacred tree," shouted Nymph.
This bug is loud, Elfan thought to himself.
"Anyway, my name is Nymph, and I am the queen of fairies. I request to take care of Yggdrasil since it's our job as fairies," said Nymph.
"Your job? And what will we get?" asked Leona.
"The fruits, which can extend your lifespan," replied Nymph.
I can help honey extend his lifespan, and he will not die before me, Leona thought, recalling that high elves have a longer lifespan than other elves.
"You are hired," declared Leona.
"You trust this bu—I mean fairy?" asked Elfan.
"No, but I will," said Leona.
"Anyway, tell us about that Elfon of yours," said Elfan.
Nymph began recounting everything, and everyone in the room was shocked. What was even more surprising was that Elfan looked exactly like Elfon; the only difference was that Elfon was a high elf.
"So you are saying this country was patriarchal, and a man with rizz ruined it?" Elfan asked.
"What's rizz?" asked Nymph.
"Never mind."
We also began to explain the current customs of the country and the situations. Nymph was as surprised as we were.
"What I don't get is how everything got reversed. If other elves blamed Elzaran for Rivendell's downfall, then why name a country after her? I now have more questions than answers."
Right, in the dungeon, I dreamed of some bimbo claiming to be a goddess.
"Do you know Goddess Ellen?" asked Elfan.
"Yes, she is the goddess of nature and the elves. Why?"
What do you mean why? The people of this country always say goddess this, goddess that, but no one actually knows anything about the goddess, even her name. Some speculate she is the goddess of nature and creation, ruling this world with justice. I still haven't forgotten that she owes me a system.
"Of the elves? Does that mean there are other goddesses or gods?" asked Leona.
"Yes, the Goddess of War is the creator of dragons and orcs, and the Goddess of Wisdom is the creator of humans. The three of them make up the godhood of this world," said Nymph, as if it was common knowledge.
The room fell silent.
"Okay, you can bring your people to look after Yggdrasil," said Leona.
We did invite an elder from the Elzaran family to ask her about the family history, but nothing useful was found. To me, it felt as if someone had erased information on purpose. There is no way that no one recorded the events that were happening. The moment they started taking care of Yggdrasil, the energy in the atmosphere increased. The mana intensified.
Drakoria survived from then until now? I need to be careful of dragons, Elfan thought.
We suddenly received news from the border that the Aranthor royal family is requesting to meet with the queen and they say it's to form an 'alliance.' I guess I was expecting this somehow. We approved of their entry and they will reach us in 4 to 5 days. So before that, I need to hold a meeting with my ministers. It seems we cannot avoid being dragged into this conflict.
