Chapter 017 - Akira vs Akiza (2)

Severe beating of a little girl, part 2. Trying to throw in some real world references since I have trouble with naming new things.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second day for Akiza was not better. She had lost just as badly as she did on the first day. Akira had numerous techniques at his disposal and he knew how to use his melee skills to its fullest. However, Akiza was not able to fight effectively. Akira had a much longer reach than her because he was using his sword. The shield was able to block every attack. Even if one of her attacks landed, Akiza was unsure if it would actually be enough to break through the armor and actually hurt Akira.

"I want to take a break for a day," Akiza told her Master.

"Why?" Akira asked.

"I need something different," Akiza explained. "I learned the principles of Krav Maga, but you are using much more that you put into your fighting."

"That is correct," Akira added. "Krav Maga is a practical fighting style, one that has you use whatever you can to fight, and it is thanks to that I have my strength."

"I want to look in the library," Akiza explained.

"Alright," Akira said in response to this request. "I will give you two days to look through the books, and we will continue afterwards."

"Thank you, Master." Akiza was happy to hear that Akira accepted her request. Perhaps this is what Akira wanted her to learn. If you cannot beat an opponent, you must find a way to do so. Somewhere in this huge library of knowledge was the techniques necessary to beat her Master.

Akiza spent a long time wandering around the library and she found numerous books. She saw numerous books filled with killing techniques, but they were useless to her. She needed a way to penetrate a defense when the person was weaker. She passed numerous books. She flipped through, Kenjutsu, the Japanese art of sword fighting. In there was a picture of a man with a one handed sword that was being used with two hands. There was a book on Bojuka, a fighting style that focused on backing away from a large group and facing one attacker at a time. However, none of these fit her needs.

At midday, Akiza found a total of two books that could have been of any use to her. The first was Hou Quan, an unorthodox fighting style that tried to disorient the opponent. The second was Wing Chun, a style for those who are not physically strong to use rapid hits, parries, and even included slaps. Using these techniques, Akiza somehow would have to defeat Akira.

"Don't forget to train your Internal Energy, you missed two days from our spars already," Akira stated.

Akiza took a look at the books on the two fighting styles that she managed to find in the library. When she was done, she began to practice some of the moves. Strikes that aimed at different parts of the body, high and low. Aiming for weak spots like the throat, eye, and groin. Evasion also included jumping around, sometimes towards the enemy in a dive, sometimes doing a back flip to move backwards.

In the evening, Akira had to do as her Master instructed and focused on developing her Internal Energy. The massive amounts of Nature energy in her body had made her strong, but she realized that diversity seems to be the key. Relying too much on one thing was bad. She had depended too much on her Master, who knew everything about her. She relied too much on her ability to sense Nature. She had developed a fair amount of Yin energy with traces amount of Ki and Chakra imbued in her attacks. However, Akira was only defending himself physically, so the power she had was not enough to break through Akira's defense. The only part of Akira was his head, which Akiza had to aim for somehow.

The next day, Akiza began to practice more of the moves that she had read about and tried to switch between them quickly. She focused on movement, being able to jump or flip in any direction along with switching between attacks that hit high and low. However, she was still unable to figure out a way to land a clean hit on her Master.

The days went by as Akiza and Akira fought. Over the next month, Akiza continued to suffer numerous defeats and felt the pain of defeat over and over again. However, she did not give up. She got up every single time until her Master told her to stop and rest. The main reason was that Akiza was not using the techniques she learned about.

"Why aren't you using Wing Chun or Hou Quan?" Akira asked.

"I read about it, but I don't feel like I can use it," Akiza replied.

"But you only read about Krav Maga and you can use it," Akira countered.

"That is because it is the only one I know at the time," Akiza said. "I also saw you use it and just copy what you do, but for Wing Chun and Hou Quan, I never saw you do it, I can only practice on my own."

Akira understood what Akiza was doing. Akiza knew the difference between learning a technique and knowing ability. Just because you read about it and understand how to use it does not mean you actually know how to use it. When you use it and how you use it is just as important.

Meanwhile, Akiza alternated her free time. She sometimes practiced her techniques. On other days, she went out to collect food. There were even times when she visited the library simply to study up on academics to fill her thirst for knowledge.

About another month passed before Akiza felt comfortable enough to use the moves she had learned. On that day, Akiza spoke these words, "Today is the day I will hit you Master."

"Give it a try," Akira responded.

Akiza dashed towards Akira as Akira used a overhead slash. Akiza swung around to Akira's open left side, but Akira once again swung his shield. Akiza raised her right leg and used the momentum of the swing from the shield to launch herself away to a safe distance.

"Very good," Akira commented. "You started using the new techniques you learned."

"I learned from a very good Master," Akiza replied.

Akiza ran towards Akira and prepared a punch. Akira raised his shield in order to intercept it. Akiza simply lacked the power to get past the shield on her own. Akira then pushed the shield outwards to try to knock Akiza off balance, but she rolled to the side and did a back flip to use her hands to get back on her feet at a safe distance.

"Very nice trick," said Akira. "But I have tricks of my own too!" he shouted as he threw his shield at Akiza. Akira charged at Akiza for a direct attack. Akiza dropped to the floor with a split and punched Akira in the leg, but to no avail.

"You landed a hit, but it wasn't clean!" Akira shouted. Akiza fell once more to the might of Akira. She simply did not have the power to penetrate Akira's armor with her current strength. "That was your best try yet though."

There was one thing left that Akiza had not tried yet. That might be the key to finally breaking through Akira's defenses.
