Two of the snake like vines crawled into the cauldron and breathed a steady flame at both sides of the pill. Both snakes were tiny, thinner than my pinky finger. I regulated the temperature as best I could, rotating the fire slowly as a book instructed.
I continued as the book instructed for another two hours, alternating the size and heat of the flame. My control skill was at level eight, but it still took all my mental capacity to control the flames for two hours straight. Only after this time had passed did the pill become a first cycle pill.
The book called the pill an Endless Vitality Pill. It obviously didn’t give endless vitality, but it did boost endurance for some time. This wasn’t some miraculous pill like the Golden Transformation Pill, which was the pill created from the Six Petal Goldflower I’d given to Chen Wei.
But my goal was to eventually create a sixth cycle Golden Transformation Pill. I didn’t care much for actually creating it, I just wanted to get to the point where I could. If I could get to that level of mastery over alchemy, I would be worthy of being called an alchemy grandmaster. At the same time, I would be able to create almost any pill I wanted.
But no pain, no gain.
-
A month of hard work later, the living room of my house had transformed into an alchemy haven. An endless supply of precious pills lie scattered on the ground. I smiled at the sixth cycle Golden Transformation Pill that lay at the bottom of my cauldron.
According to the alchemy books, it usually took thirty years of practice and study to get to the point of being able to create a sixth cycle pill. Two advantages let me cross this barrier in just a month: the Identify skill and infinite resources to practice with.

Just to cure my OCD, I made everything at least level five. Except for Identify. It refused to level up no matter how much I used it.
I didn’t have enough space in the yard to hold a lot of plants. So to level up my plants, I would make one with a couple thousand mana and then Wither it.
I picked up the knife that I had taken from Hui Ming. This knife was far stronger and sharper than any other knife I had. It was also coated with poison, but not any poison that I couldn’t easily dispel with a pill.
I stabbed it into my palm. My impenetrable fortress of skin stopped it. The tip of the knife cracked and flew across the room. Another month of Skinny Ginsengs had hardened my skin beyond comprehension.
I threw a seed out the window and it turned into a web of Sticky Vines. It grew to cover the top of my property. More vines moved up to support it. Now, it was impossible to leave my estate without breaking my vines or the walls.
I walked outside. Hui Ming looked up at me with calm eyes. After a month of staying here, she was used to it. She pointed at the sticky vines I set up. “What are those for, sir?”
The vines around her feet fell to the floor, limp. “Huh?” she stood up, surveying me. “I see, thank you,” she said.
She didn’t attack me. Even if she did, there was nothing she could do to harm me. I nodded. I threw a seed to the ground. It turned into a small hut.
Now that everything was out of the way, I had to focus on the less fun, more tedious parts of my to-do list. I left to find the library to learn more about this world.
