At the main eastern gate at the edge of the city, facing the great forest, a guard at the southern side of the large gate called out to the guard at the northern side.
"Hey, you see that thing over by the tree line?"
"Yeah".
"What do you think it is?"
"Looks like some large orc. Or maybe a baby giant? Is that what a baby giant looks like? i never saw one before"
"Baby giants can't stand"
"Maybe its a toddler giant?"
"It looks like it is coming out of the tree line, I think we should call the guard captain"
The usual protocol was to not do anything about monsters that came up to 20 meters out of the forest, but usually it was only smaller monsters, like goblins making an outpost, or young kobolds wandering around. But this was suspicious, so it was better to play it safe. the guard on the northern side of the gate called up to an archer standing on top of the wall.
"Archer dude, use your Eagle Eye and tell us what that is"
the archer activated his skill, getting a clear zoomed in vision of the creature in the distance.
"it looks like a halfbreed mix between an orc and a human"
"I thought if an orc and a human breed, then the offspring is an orc"
"Well if the father is an orc, then they make an orc, but if the mother is an orc, then they make a half orc"
The guard on the southern side spoke up. "Aren't there places where half orcs are allowed into society?"
The guard on the north side responded, "Well their not accepted here, that's for sure"
He was so sure because he never saw one inside the city, although he had never even been to most of the city. The guard on the northern side called up to the archer, "Go call the guard captain"
The archer went down from on top of he wall. after a few minutes the guard captain came walking out of the gate, followed by four soldiers and two archers. looking at the creature that was making its way down the road towards the city, he gave some orders, and soon there were a handful of archers on top of the gate, with two mages, and a group of armored spearmen on the ground in front of the gate.

Chester took his first steps away from the forest, and towards the city.
Exerting yourself to carry such a heavy burden for so long, strength +1
but I'm not carrying anything. Even though he was pushing himself to his limits, Chester was still able to use his gamers mind to analyze his situation, considering how to maximize his "adventure". He began to think out loud.
"My status screen is essential to my survival, *stops to take a breath* I may be the only human that can access his status screen” *stops to take a breath*
"It's too hard to speak out loud while I am walking" *stops to take a breath*
Chester sits down out of exhaustion. after his breathing slows down he can concentrate better. OK, no more thinking out loud. I don't want a heart attack before I start my journey. Top hat man said my status screen has a level, so I just need to level it up. And he best way to do that, is to grind. "status screen"

It popped up again. he thought to try different things to see how it works. instead of saying out loud for it to go away, he motioned his hand, as if he was pushing it to the side. The status screen flew along with his hand, seeming to curve around towards his back, and it was out of sight. He turned around to see if it was behind him, but it was not there. He continued to grind it. "status screen"

One of the spearmen was speaking to the guard captain "It seems to be wounded sir"
"That would explain why it keeps on stopping to rest"
"do you think its rabid? or gone mad? why else would it come close to the city?"
"I don't know, but well soon find out” Watching the creature approach with crawling speed, the captain changed his assessment. “or maybe not so soon, but within an hour or two. Why is it walking so slow?"
"Another proof that it is severely injured sir. Maybe it's been afflicted with the status ailments; confuse, and slow, sir"

After many more stops, Chester started to feel very thirsty. and the sweaty shit on his ass was really starting to itch. He couldn't walk while scratching his ass, so he would use those times to rest as well. He didn't sit down, but just stood there, body twisting, stretching his arms to the max, around his body. It was necessary to twist in each direction, to the left to scratch his left but cheek, and to the right to scratch the other. After a while of walking, he received two notifications.
Walking for so long, your legs have been pushed to their limits. agility +1
You have drained your stamina many times today. stamina +5
At this point he could clearly see the gate, with guards standing all around. He raised his hands in the air "Hey come help me! I cant walk all this on my own!" His arms were too heavy to hold up for too long, and they soon fell to his sides.
Strength +1
It did not seem like any of he guards heard him.
...
the creature was slowly approaching. at some point it started to do some kind of dance, twisting its body around. This worried the captain, it may be a sign that an attack would soon follow. He ordered his troops to be ready for anything. The archers knocked their arrows, and the mages prepared spells.
...
Chester finally made it within 10 meters of the troops. The spearmen took a defensive stance, raising their spears. Huffing and gasping for air, Chester called out "Please, you have to help me" The guard captain considered, it could be that this creature came out asking for help, without any ill intentions. It was not unheard of, some monsters breaking away from their groups, to warn the civilized races of impending doom. The guards did not respond, waiting for the captain. Chester took a few more steps forward and called out again. "Please, you have to help me!, I have shit my pants" There was a very long moment of silence. Finally the guard captain called out. "what is your race? are you a half orc?"
"I am a human"
The troops gave each other a worrying glance. The guard captain spoke to the mages on top of the gate, "do either of you have a basic identify skill?"
"I do" one of them responded.
"check his status"
The mage cast the spell identify, even though he only had it at a low level, this was enough to find out which race the target is from. "He is telling the truth, he is a human" In unison the guards gasped in shock.
"Has he been hit with a slow spell?, and is he under some sort of monstrous disfiguring curse?"
"he has no abnormalities asides from fatigue, exhaustion, and sunburn"
The guard captain motioned for the archers to lower their bows.
