“Has Peril really entered into Royal Road?”

“Is it even possible for Peril to survive in such an environment?”

“Will his in-game-avatar be a penguin? Expert sources have said that it would most likely take some time before such animal implementations would be introduced into the game.”

The press conference was crowded with reporters vying for answers to their questions about the fascinating event. Even though the event had long since been planned, most had not believed it would really happen. It had just seemed too unrealistic, too impossible, and yet, it did happen. Peril, the world’s smartest penguin had entered into the world’s most popular VRMMORPG, Royal Road!

A stirring commotion in the heart of the kingdom had caught Noue’s eye as he entered, but when he looked over earlier, all he had seen was another human player and had thought nothing of it. Moments later, that avatar reappeared in his sight, along with a crowd of players who could not help but stare at the player’s avatar. Curious, Noue watched the character make his way through the crowd.

‘Waddle, waddle.’ Noue’s eyebrows rose as he began to laugh at the imagined sound effects he heard in his head. ‘Waddle, waddle.’ The avatar was a human, and yet it was waddling its way through instead of walking.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

“Could it be...?” Noue burst into a booming laughter that caught the avatar’s attention. The waddling human turned towards Noue with his head tilted to the side.

“Squawk!” A strange sound emerged from the avatar’s mouth. “... Y-yes? Do you know me?”

Even though the avatar was talking in plain English, all Noue could hear in his head was the sole ‘Squawk!’. He doubled over in laughter and amazement. “I can’t believe it! This is too ridiculous. A penguin... in Royal Road! Unbelievable!”

The avatar’s eye twitched and eyebrows furrowed in anger. He then steadied himself before waddling into a run and tackling Noue, shoving him into a stall of cabbages. The balls of cabbage began to roll everywhere and the shopkeeper screamed, “Bloody murder! My cabbages!!!”

At the sight of the shopkeeper, Noue gulped and immediately prepared to log out.

“A penguin...” He muttered, taking one last look at the strange player, as his avatar transported itself elsewhere and logged out.

Lydia stumbled out of the capsule, rushed to her laptop and typed up a forum post.

[Guys, I just met the smartest bird in the world on Royal Road. It’s unbelievable. We have to recruit it! We have to recruit that penguin, Peril!]
