“Rest up. You’ve been through a lot. If you need anything, just come wake me up.”
Giving Lily-rose one of the rooms near her own, Lucy made final checks to ensure she wasn’t uncomfortable. Out of the many things that Lucy was, a lousy host wasn’t one of them.
“Alright… Good-night.” Lily-rose responded.
As Lucy entered her room, she quickly entered her sentinel base, where Nell awaited her.
Upon entering the system, she was given two pop-ups related to the buildings being built.

“Are you really sure that was a good idea?”
“Yeah, no matter how I look, I gain more than I lose. Even from a completely logical standpoint.”
“Elaborate.”
Sitting on a chair near the bed where Nell and the sleeping Agents rested, Lucy nodded.
“As much as I’d love to beat around the bush and list off all my reasons, I’ve already done that, what? Twice today? That girl is a Biological super weapon.”
Unsure how to react to that, Nell could only repeat her words, this time with a questioning tone.
“Elaborate?”
Sighing, Lucy continued to speak, “She said it herself, and as you didn’t mention that she was lying, it’s the only real conclusion that makes sense. She’s the only Invader who can use Magic. If I had to guess, her Mother is an extremely intelligent or high-ranking member of their… Species? Orginization? Whatever they are. I know it sounds like a stretch to you, but that’s because some knowledge can only come from experience and not research…”
“Experience? You’re implying you’re the same?”
Once again, Lucy nodded.
“Am I not? You and the Sentinel stuff aside, I am the only person in this world capable of using Chronomancy. Allegedly, at least. That doesn’t happen by accident. What does, though, is failing to do enough research and realizing that no matter how large my mana pool is, a Witch can never have enough Mana to use that type of Magic.” Lucy explained, her tone slightly sad as she recalled the past.
“That…”
“Forget it. It’s not important. Even if I’m wrong, at best, I’m protecting an innocent girl; at worst, I’m using her as bait to lure out the stronger Invaders. Don’t think too deeply about it.”
With that out of the way, Lucy stood back up and left the room, with Nell following shortly behind.
In the middle of her land, where her Obelisk stood, was the construction of a fountain of sorts, making it seem like the two were one object.
Slightly closer to her, right next to the room, which was considered her Castle, was a vault-like facility.
“Wow, it’s not even been 12 hours yet. It feels like it’s been way longer.” Lucy chuckled.
‘System, max my Vitality.’
|4000 Candies. Would you like to proceed?|
‘Yeah.’

|
A radiant green light enveloped Lucy before her vision was completely clouded with notifications from the system.

The number of pop-ups was difficult to keep up with. Lucy could barely close one before another would appear, but the moment she managed to close all of them, her eyes widened in astonishment.
The world was filled with different colors. Lines of blue and yellow flowed around each other as if they were dancing together.
Turning to face Nell, the Nekomata had a light blue aura surrounding her.
“This is… Mana sight?”
It wasn’t just her newly acquired vision, though. Distant birds she had never heard before, winds blowing that she didn’t know existed, the scattering of small fauna running around the outskirts of her land.

Rubbing her eyes while thinking about seeing the world normally again, Lucy blinked and regained her normal vision, only to regain her magic sight after another blink and thinking about wanting it back.
“Oh, that’s trippy.”
|
Just as Lucy thought the notifications were done, another appeared, followed by a flash of light which caused Lucy and Nell to leap away from the Castle.
By the time they could open their eyes again, the singular room that had been their spawn point had turned into a whole medieval-age mansion that wasn’t much larger than Lucy’s actual home.
|
“Are we done with notifications? Can I check my status screens now?” Lucy asked.
After waiting a few seconds for a response from the system, Lucy finally felt confident enough to speak.
“Syst-”
|
“FUCK YOU!” Lucy cursed the system with all her might.
On the other hand, Nell looked at the notification and immediately started tearing up.
“Zone…” She mumbled to herself before dashing into the mansion.
“E-eh? Nell? Where are you going?” Lucy asked, running after her partner.
Together, they ran through nearly every room in the mansion until they found the new room that housed the sleeping Agents.
Sleeping Agent, rather.
They saw him as they burst through their final door—a bright orange fox with three tails and a curious expression.
“Nell?” He asked inquisitively.
“Zone… You really woke up.”
Another word didn’t escape Nell’s feline mouth before jumping at the newly awakened Zone and embracing him in a hug.
Happy that Nell was reunited with one of her friends and not wanting to ruin this moment for them, Lucy smiled and quietly exited the room. She imagined it’d take Nell some time to explain the current situation to their new comrade so Lucy could use this time to familiarize herself with the changes and upgrades.
‘Status.”

‘Ugh… I have more skills to read…’ She lamented.
Part of her wanted just not to read the skills and figure it out in practice, but knowing full well how stupid that was didn’t allow for any excuses to be made.
