Clicking her tongue while effectively dancing with this damned dog, Chronos made pop shot after pop shot while minimizing her mana usage to confirm her suspicion.
It didn’t take much to realize that no matter where she hit the wolf it didn’t flinch or even slow down and merely kept attacking her.
‘So at best it feels no pain and at worst it’s immortal. Guess that means every different type of invader has a gimmick. How annoying’ She confirmed inwardly.
Up to this point, Lucy did know that these gimmick-like abilities existed but to the public, it’s only been shown 4 times at most over the past decade so she thought they were really rare or some kind of mutation.
Clearly, she was very wrong. On top of that, it became far worse when she had no idea where the Suitman went and didn’t have time to look for it while dealing with the poor puppy.
“Okay then. Let’s try this.”
Abruptly stopping her movement, Chronos allowed the wolf to lunge at her for free while twirling her first tonfa, smashing it straight into the wolf’s maw before taking her second and impaling it into his lower abdomen without any reinforcement from her Mana.
While she wasn’t done with her attack, a small projectile made of dark magic shot at the center of her neck that she just barely managed to dodge with the help of her third eye skill.
Of course, the wolf not feeling pain, took that tiny opening that the projectile created to take a nice big bite of Lucy’s arm, sinking his teeth deep into her.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have the same pain immunity. She did have the next best thing though, that being a very high amount of tenacity.
“DISCHARGE!” She shouted out, wincing in pain.
Out of her body came a highly concentrated jolt of electricity which was sent directly into the wolf’s skull allowing her to throw it off.
Not missing the chance, she looked at the place where the projectile came from only to see the Suitman sinking into a shadow.
“You’re joking right?” She complained while gaining some distance from both of her opponents.
‘I don’t recall melting into shadows being part of the description of Darkness Magic. That’s dangerous.’
“Nell… Any ideas on how to deal with these two? I can vaguely sense the Suitman but not much more.”
Nellphyis had a look of displeasure on her face.
“Vampir-type Invaders are the most durable. With it seemingly not feeling any pain, the only way to realistically deal with it in a timely manner is to destroy its legs first. As for that humanoid… I can see through his stealth but it’ll be hard to give yo-”
Nell was unfortunately cut off by Lucy suddenly jumping into the sky when another, much larger darkness-based attack was sent her way along with a powerful gust of wind from the wolf.
“Tch. Deal with the mutt first? Got it.” Lucy stated.
Landing on the ground Lucy’s eyes honed in on the Vampir wolf who seemed to be struggling to move around.
‘Even if it lacks pain receptors it seems that a large enough shock will still mess with its ability to function… That being said, that Discharge was at my max output and it was only stunned for a couple of seconds… Sorry Sora, it’s gonna be a second before I can meet you again.’
Taking a deep breath, a dull glow began emanating from Chronos, outlining her as she felt her Mana leaving her body.
|
“Keep an eye on my mana, System.”
|
Taking the initiative, Chronos vanished from her spot, quickly appearing above the Vampir wolf with sparks jumping across her dominant arm.
“Infusion!”
CRASH!
Slamming her fist and by proxy her tonfa into the back of the wolf’s head, Chronos sent the wolf several centimeters into the ground as the concrete of the road she was on began to crack for nearly an entire meter.
“Perish, Invader.” She said blankly, her tonfa connecting together to form her Bo staff.
Once again, a blast came from the shadows. This time, however, she was prepared for it.
Ducking under the attack, two words left her mouth before she vanished again.
“Double Point.”
The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
The Suitman didn’t have a chance to react as Chronos quickly bashed its skull into the ground, giving it an eerily similar fate to the wolf.
Seemingly terrifying, The suitman quickly retreated into the shadow which Chronos tried to stop but to no avail.
A little later, the Suitman reappeared next to the Vampirwolf.
|MP: 9333/25,000|
“That is so bullshit.”
Double Point. She sped up her own time by double for just a moment which drained her of over 10,000 MP and the Suitman was still fast enough to get away!
Meanwhile, Nell was shocked by the sudden sensation of time going twice as fast, even if for such a short instant.
This was a first for her and it left her considerably disoriented. Almost to the point of her falling off Chronos’ shoulder.
“Are you okay, Nell?” Chronos asked for confirmation.
The first time she used Chronomancy by accident all those years ago, she had a similar albeit far worse experience. Because of her lack of understanding of the element and general inexperience, she was left paralyzed for days after the adrenaline settled.
“Managing…” Nell barely managed to say, causing Chronos to chuckle.
“Alright… Time to end th-”
Words being cut again, this time by Chronos’ own will as she saw a very…
Grotesque scene.
The Vampir wolf and Suitman were merging! Melding together into some unexplainable amalgamation.
“No! NO NO NO NO! DON’T ADD ANOTHER PHASE TO THIS BOSS FIGHT! I JUST WANNA GO SEE SORA!” Chronos cried out because, of course, they could fuse together!
That makes perfect sense!
Chronos wasn’t even sure how to approach this thing as its form changed. Its disgusting form aside, she couldn’t see either of the Invaders' cores despite most of their bodies being liquid and molding together.
“Nell. Input?!”
Trying her best to regain her wits, Nell could only narrow her eyes at the currently amorphous blob.
“Some Invaders can fuse together. Even the other Sentinels don’t really understand how they do it. What we do know is that thing will be stronger than the sum of its parts.”
Chronos blinked a few times as the thing began to slowly take a comprehensible shape.
“Huh… No new special abilities?”
“Not that I know off but that humanoid is still an unknown to us!”
Cracking her knuckles, Chronos smiled at that revelation.
What became of the fused creation was an animalistic humanoid creature.
A werewolf would be a good way to describe it considering it was made from a man and a wolf but it had little resemblance to a wolf.
Its fur was thin, extremely so in fact. To the point where you could see its skin and through that its bone. Its skull was some horrific mixture of human and wolf as it hunched over to a point that could you barely call bipedal.
It was unnerving for sure but Chronos had seen things that most mortal minds can’t comprehend so it wasn’t much of a shock.
That being said, she watched for a certain notification that didn’t come.
‘Is this thing too far for you to consider it a part of humanity or is it that you find it too weak to be considered a threat?’ Chronos asked herself as if she was going to get a response.
She was referring to that notification she got while fighting against the original Lowest Rank Suitman.
The werewolf seemed to not move carelessly. After Chronos destroyed its components it seemed to gain a sense of how dangerous this young lass was.
On that note, Chronos was in a similar situation. Dealing with an unknown enemy while being somewhat low on Mana made her not charge directly at it.
Lowering her posture while placing one hand on the ground as if she were mimicking the posture of this beast, they both began rushing toward each other for their final clash!
Only for…

A massive amount of killing intent washed over Chronos and the werewolf causing the prior of the two to quickly infuse a ton of mana into her hand and smash the ground as hard as she could, the rebound of which sent her flying away.
At the same time as all this, the name of an attack was shouted out from a distance.
“Crescendo!”
With the name being called out, a hail of bullets fell on top of the Werewolf which failed to move in time, killing it immediately by revealing and destroying its two cores.
Before Chronos could even look at the source of the bullets, a girl appeared next to the Invader with an animal of a similar size to Nell resting on her shoulder. A carbuncle.
She looked to be 12 or so in age, her hair was a gentle rose gold in color and her eyes were like the clearest ocean. Much like Chronos with her broom, she also had an unconventional tool that she used as her weapon. For her, a violin was the weapon she chose.

| | | | | Or at least, what was left. Once again, the Suitman was turned into an adult human male. Chronos being on guard immediately leaped away. “IDENTIFY YOURSELF!” she shouted out, holding her chest. ‘Not now, damn it. I can handle the situation. If you’re gonna be so overprotective then offer to take control when I’m fighting non-humanoids…’ | The young girl looked at Chronos while picking up the male. “Nellphyis… That’s not Gaia…” The carbuncle mused while narrowing its eyes. Despite it saying this, its partner did not give Nell a chance to respond as they quickly left with the man in tow.
