Chapter 19: 2v1

“HOW DO YOU FLY ON THIS THING?!” Utopia shouted with a mix of terror and confusion.

“I am simply better than you,” Chronos stated blankly, doing her absolutely best to not burst into laughter.

Currently, the group was all flying on Chronos’ broomstick toward their destination at a scarily high speed.

Chronos and Nell were completely fine with the prior casually riding the broom like she was a sword cultivator or something and the latter resting on her shoulder.

Utopia on the other hand… Was hanging on for dear life while screaming.

They were well above the clouds to avoid detection. Even in the Shadow World, caution was required when they didn’t know how good their foe was at sensing their presence.

Also flying this high at this speed, if Utopia fell off he would surely die and that was hilarious to Chronos. Naturally, she’d save him because she isn’t a horrible person but he didn’t know that.

“Chronos, we’re almost there. You can start lowering altitude.” Nell sighed.

“Already?” Chronos pouted.

“Oh thank god!”

“The HELL did you say” Chronos questioned, raising altitude.

“OH PLEASE NO HAVE MERCY I BEG OF YOU I’M SORRY!”

Reveling in the terror of her priest companion one final time, Lucy actually began lowering altitude.

BOOM! CLASH!

It didn’t take long to hear the sound of metal clashing with metal and explosions, well… Being explosions.

Landing on a building close to the commotion, the entire group was blessed with a site they didn’t expect.

Two Magical Sentinels, one of which being the girl who stole Chronos’ kill, chasing down a humanoid invader.

No… Just saying they’re humanoid is wrong. They were completely human! If it wasn’t for the fact that she bled the same liquid as the other Invaders and had tentacles flying out of her sleeve where her arm should be, nobody would ever have considered this girl to be anything other than human.

“What in the…” Chronos narrowed her eyes, watching the battle.

“We need to go help them!” Utopia sprung up, the moment he recovered from Chronos’ drunk driving.

“Help who, idiot? That girl is getting bullied.”

As Utopia began to examine the fight slightly more, he nodded in agreement.

The two Sentinels were absolutely destroying the human Invader. It wasn’t even a competition really.

The sentinel in the front held a sword, constantly keeping pressure on the Invader while the one in the back whom Chronos was familiar with laid a siege of massive manamancy blasts, somehow perfectly missing her ally while striking her enemy.

Their teamwork was impeccable, causing a smile to appear on Chronos’ face.

‘System, what’s my Mana looking like?’ Chronos asked inwardly.

‘How many points would it cost to up my Magic stat to 100?’

|4200 Candies. Would you like to proceed?|

“Huh, I think you were right for once, priest. We should help. That poor lonely girl.”

That caught the attention of Nell and Utopia.

“Chronos you can’t! Even if you wish to help her you have no Mana!”

Utopia didn’t respond though.

‘I agree. We should help but! She’s an Invader! If she escapes won't she hurt more people?’ Utopia questioned to himself.

He had never heard of Invaders looking like humans! That alone was enough to make him question his next course of action.

“Really random question. Do you guys trust me?” Chronos asked.

“No,” Utopia said.

“Not particularly. Sorry.” Nell answered.

Both without any hesitation, causing Chronos’ expression to sour.

“You could have at least lied, you know. Whatever, a good answer. Rule number 1 of having a Witch as a companion is to never trust them. They WILL get one of you killed. With that being said, I strongly advise you two to stay away from the battlefield for a while. I’m gonna cause some havoc.”

With that being said, Chronos dropped Nell off her shoulder before jumping from the building and entering into a freefall.

“Yes.”

Without warning, Chronos’ mana spiked heavily, grabbing the attention of everyone present, including those who were currently fighting.

CRASH!

Smashing into the ground with great force, Chronos looked at the bleeding Invader before turning to face the two Sentinels.

‘Huh. I got my MP restored. Neat.’

“Yo, little miss musician. I didn’t think I’d meet you this soon.” Chronos taunted with a crazed smile.

Turning her Broom into a pair of Tonfa, she looked toward the bleeding Invader.

“Lass, I have a bit of bad blood with the girl who’s attacking you so for the time being we’re allies. Either help me fight or run, I don’t care w-”

Before Chronos could finish her sentence, the new Sentinel lunged at her and attacked with her large sword.

“My, how feisty~” Chronos chuckled as she blocked the attack with her tonfa.

Getting a better look at her, this new sentinel looked to be about the same age as her friend over there but she wore a fluffy winter jacket and hat, not to mention her skin and hair were as white as snow itself.

‘Guess I’ll be making good on my promise sooner than we thought, aye, old man?’ She spoke to herself inwardly.

Seeing that the system gave her no response, Chronos shrugged.

“Well, you’re not the only one.”

Dashing forward straight at the Sentinel from her previous encounter, her path was quickly blocked by the sword-wielding girly but once again parried her blade before deciding to turn and slam her electrically charged weapon into her.

“Infusion; Lightning!”

“YUKI!” The Musical Magic Girl shouted.

Seeing how far she got sent back which was incidentally through a whole building and then some, Chronos looked at her hand and blinked in surprise, breaking her little charade of arrogances for a moment.

‘I did not expect that to be so strong. Okay, refrain from using my full power if possible. I might actually kill them.’

“Ah~ So Yuki’s her name hmm~” Chronos asked sarcastically, continuing her charge forward.

Striking downwards, this time with only normal Magic reinforcement, the Sentinel surprisingly managed to dodge well before retaliating.

“Magic Missile!”

BOOM!

Playing a singular note on her Violin, 4 arrows made of pure Mana quickly fired at Chronos, only for the latter to reform her Tonfa into a Bo staff and deflect them, sending them into the nearby surroundings, and creating another set of vibrant explosions.

“Why are you impeding us?!” The Sentinel questioned.

“Why’d you steal my kill?” Chronos responded.

The two both stopped moving as they stared each other down.

“Are you seriously stopping us from hunting that dangerous Invader because I took a kill from you?! What did you even lose from that?!”

“Absolutely nothing.” Chronos chuckled.

“W-what?”

Seeing the color leave the already pale girl’s face at Chronos’ nonsensical reason for stepping in made Chronos chuckle.

‘Serves you right. Take my kill again, I dare you.’

Sensing a high-speed projectile coming straight at her, Chronos narrowly bent backward, dodging 3 magic-coated knives from Yuki who was currently charging at her with great speed.

‘Oh thank me that Third Eye increases my senses. That would’ve been dangerous!’

“Try harder, Yuki!” Chronos shouted, meeting Yuki in the middle as they clashed.

Once again narrowly ducking under a sideways strike, Chronos kicked her in the side.

Instead of Yuki being sent flying again, however, she simply took the hit without moving! Immediately retaliating, she slammed her fist into Chronos as she couldn’t swing her sword fast enough to capitalize on the slight opening she gave herself.

At the same time, the other Sentinel fired off another set of Magic Missiles at her

Chronos just barely managed to block and was unsurprisingly sent into the air, Naturally, she didn’t let this go lying down though.

`Manamancy, huh? I’ve not really had a chance to use it yet. Might as well figure it out now.`

“Ropes of Binding!”

While in the air, strings made of Mana ended up grabbing onto Yuki, pulling her and Chronos together, forcing her partner to redirect her magic missiles lest she hit Yuki as well.

The moment they got close together again, it began a massive close combat fight where the other Sentinel couldn’t even intervene.

Yuki slashed downwards only for Chronos to weave and retaliate with a left hook but Yuki also blocked that with relative ease before pushing Chronos away.

“MANA BOMB!”

The moment that distance was made, a massive ball of Mana was fired at her.

Ready to get out of the way, when Chronos tried to move, her lower body simply refused to!

Looking down, she noticed that her lower body was completely frozen!

The girl wearing winter clothing was an Ice Mage! Who could have possibly seen that!?

‘Oh… Shit…`

Bracing for impact as the massive ball came flying towards her, Chronos prepared for the worst.
