Chapter 9|| Ones Potential

Dwarf: Welcome to the Mages guild how may i be of service?

[Kai and tara quickly approached the desk. Sitting behind it was a small female dwarf with short red curly hair pointy ears and a thick pair of glasses. Making her bright green eyes seem even bigger and more alluring then they should be. ]

[Kai looking her small frame up and down . ]

kai: A dwarf how rare.

Dwarf: What how rude.

[Tara quickly pinches him in his side making his face twist a bit in pain. ]

tara: My husbands terribly sorry hes just not as well traveled as i thought he was hes not used to seeing such a sma...

dwarf: SMALL!!

tara: uh no what i mean..

dwarf: Oh i get it just because i'm height challenged you think it gives you the right to call me small.

[Tara now becoming slightly embarrassed because of her own comments. Meanwhile kai is laughing at his wife under his breath causing tara to pinch his side even harder, but even though shes doing it harder kai cant keep him self from cracking up. ]

kai: hahaha honey shes got you.

Dwarf: And what are you laughing at Sasquatch no way your height is normal. With feet that big you must be part of the beast race circus.

[Kais laughing immediately seize's and tara's starts up. ]

kai: what

tara: ptfff ha ha ha you do have big feet.

kai: tara

tara: and they smell too.

kai: honey please.

[The small dwarf seeing this is a bit confused she could have never thought that a wife would turn on her husband so quickly . ]

kai: Well at least i don't fart in my sleep.

[Tara instantly stops laughing causing her face to brighten a shade of tomato red with embarrassment . ]

kai: Hmmmmmmmmmmm what do you have to say about that?

[The small dwarf listening to this ridiculous couple in front of her suddenly released a small chuckle. ]

Dwarf: ptffff

[Soon turning into a huge laugh . ]

Dwarf: ahahahahahahahahahaha

[Tara turns an even brighter shade of red meanwhile kai just stands there with a small pout wanting to fold his arms but of course he can not. After a while the small dwarf settles down from her fit of laughter taking a big puff of air. ]

Dwarf: Phew you guys sure are weird aren't ya.

[Kai and tara both look at each other and kai lets out a small smile while rubbing the back of his head while tara lets out a low sigh. ]

tara: Me and my husband are both sorry as well as a little embarrassed .We've just both been a bit on edge lately. Lets start over i'm Tara Phalkore and this is my husband Kai Phalkore please can you help us.

[Tara lets out a small bow issuing her husband to do the same and with some reluctance he gives one as well ill be it a slightly smaller bow. ]

[The dwarf letting out a small sigh as well. ]

dwarf:Its my fault too, i shouldn't have been so quick to anger. My names naddel do forgive me.

[Naddel bows as well. ]

tara: So can you help us.

naddel: Yes of course what can i do for you today.

tara: Yes wed like to have our sons mana potential tested today.

naadel: You're kid, but hes just a baby. Why not wait until hes a bit older, some children's mana potential doesn't manifest until later in life .

kai: No we would like to do it today if possible.

naddel: Has he had any signs suggesting he has potential. Because if not i'm afraid you may be wasting your gold if no results show.

tara: That happens?

naddel: Yes more then you'd think .When children are born there souls are just starting to connect to gordonia so mana sometimes takes a while before there bodies will even absorb it. Most of the time they're mana core wont even show a reaction to the tester if there under 5 years old.

[Tara stares in surprise while kai simply nods his head in agreement, tara seeing this pinches him on his side. ]

kai: Ow ow ow what are you doing woman.

tara: You didn't know!

kai: Of course i did.

tara: Oh really then why didn't you mention any of this earlier.

kai: I...i simply forgot that's all.

tara: mmHmm

[Naddel begins chuckling again. ]

naddel: hahaha too funny, too funny

kai: ANYWAY!!

naddel: Right so like i said does your son show any of the signs.

[Tara and kai both look at each other. ]

kai: Yes

[Naddel readjust her glasses and then looks at little sen doubtfully . ]

naddel: Really in one so small ?

kai: Like i said he has.

[Naadel , still a bit doubtful but was also a bit curious. ]

naddel: Then what has he done, has he moved water without touching it, has he touched a flame with out getting burnt.

[Kai and tara look questioningly at each other. ]

tara: Hes moved a leaf with out touching it.

naddel: And your sure it wasn't just the wind.

kai: I'm saying he moved it on his own what aren't you getting.

naddel: Okay okay relax. I have to ask, i'm just trying to doing my job,so one tester then.

tara: Yes please.

naddel: Will there be anything else.

kai: NO

naddel: That will be 15 gold please.

Kai: What 15 gold tha...thats highway robbery do you take me for a fool.

[Seeing as how a small family could live off of 2-3 gold a year kai felt this was way to much. ]

naddel : I'm telling ya our facilities are awfully expensive. That's why most people don't get tested its usually reserved for adventurers and nobleman. Ya know, those with a little extra spending money.

[Kai was starting to get infuriated. ]

tara: Kai its okay we have the money.

[Kai but tara that's almost all of our life savings how can we afford to spend like this. ]

tara: Its for sen, we have to do this. Other wise what if he ends up hurting someone. We have to figure this out now before something serious occurs. Besides once we reach my mothers place we wont need money we'll just live with her.

kai: I cant live off your mother. How can i be considered a man if i cant house my own family.

tara: Then what. Should we just march to Cordel and hope that an accident doesn't occur on the way. Have you already forgotten what he was able to do. What if instead of a leaf or a rock he picks up a knife and throws it at some passerby, we'll be the ones responsible and we'll still have no clue what hes truly capable of. Is that what you want?

kai: i...

[sigh]

kai: no

tara: Kai at least this way well have some answers for him when he gets older.

kai: Your right.

[Kai from the side of his waist takes out a small brown bag filled with a bit of gold ,silver and copper coins. As he opens it up he reluctantly takes out 15 gold and slowly gives it to naddel ,and as he ties the sack back to his waist it barely even jingles, causing him to have a bit of a depressed face. ]

naddel: Thank you for your purchase. Now, if you'll please take 3 steps back. This requires a bit of room.

[Kai still out of it, patting his waist wear his money once was. Tara has to grab him by his arm and step back. ]

naddel: Thank you

[Naddel quickly got off her seat and walked around to in front of kai, tara and sen. She then pulls from her pocket a small black orb the size of an eyeball. She holds it up in front of them and slowly starts to chant a few words while pouring some mana into it. The orb starts to shake and with the incantation complete turns a pale green pulsing with a bit of black still in the center of it. The orb then floats up as gentle as a feather and then quietly a small humming emanates from it. With a flash a green pulsing portal appears in front of them. ]

naddel: Step inside please, your tester will be waiting for you in the room down the hallway 3rd door on the right.

[Kai and tara both being shocked at seeing this portal appear out of no where, nervously stepped inside, and with another flash they were gone. The entrance of the mages guild was once more occupied by one person. The orb then stopped pulsing and the door was gone. It then fell back into naddels hand fading from a light green back to pitch black. ]

naadel: Hmpf hope they wont be disappointed.

[ In an instant tara ,kai and sen appeared in a long light blue hallway with beautiful marble tile floors. At the end of it, well you couldn't quite see the end of it. That's how far this hall way stretched, and every 10 or so feet their was a door on the left as well as the right. This continued for quite a distance. Once again the 2 couldn't believe it ,and if sen wasn't blindfolded maybe he 2 would appear shocked. But alas they quickly remembered there task and made they're way down the hall to the 3rd door. As they approached it they were contemplating whether to just go in or knock first .Tara decided it would still be better to knock, but before she could. ]

: You out there its open,now hurry up and come in.

[Tara and kai looked at each other questioningly for second, and then just let themselves in. As they entered the room they began to look around and it was quite extraordinary. Fine paintings hung on the walls and a few statues carved from unrecognizable ores litter the place, but they saw no one.]

: Do come, do come, hurry up.

[Once again they heard this voice beckoning them to come deeper. As they made they're way thru they didn't know whether this was an art gallery or a warehouse. The reason being was because yes there were many pieces of art everywhere, but there were also tools and books and all sorts of other things most people might describe as junk, littered here and there. As they came to the end of this big storage like place they happened upon another door and once more they were called.]

: Come do you intend to make me wait.

[Tara and kai standing at the door were nervous about entering, but just as they went to open the door.]

: I SAID COME!!

[A big rush of wind lifted them off there feet and with a bit of forcefulness they were forced inside. Right as they flew in the door slammed shut. What appeared in front of them was a tall dark robbed figure with its back towards them, doing something very intently.]

kai: You, what is this, is this how you treat your customers.

[Even though kai was yelling. Deep down inside he was truly scared. He had felt nothing when the magic was used on him no mana no blood lust nothing, and to perfectly control his body like that no doubt this person sitting at this desk was strong. But what frightened him the most was that this person gave off an overwhelming amount of pressure, like his very soul was being crushed. Tara frightened to death as well barely managed to push out a few words.]

tara: Please my son he..

: ssshhhh

[Hearing this they both went silent paralyzed with fear and after a few more seconds a book could be heard closing.]

[Thump]

[And as this dark robbed figure turned around, once more they were both shocked and kai unintentionally uttered.]

Kai: Beautiful

[Tara hearing this immediately forgot her fear and started pinching and twisting kais side.]

kai: OW OW OW OW OW

: fufufuufufu

[The woman was indeed beautiful, tall with long silver hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall. Full cherry red lips, pointed ears, long slender legs that could make any man tempted. D breast, a small waist and face of an angel but what made her truly beautiful were her eyes, as blue as sapphire. So blue it would be enough to make the sky cry with envy. This was the perfect looking elf.]

: So you wish me to test your son for mana potential, hes a bit young though.

tara: Yes but we know he has potential we've already seen him use it.

: hmm

tara: Ah, i'm sorry. I'm Tara Phalkore and this is...

: I've already been told from naddel.

[Tara and kai both surprised by this look at the beautiful woman curiously.]

: Oh.

[The beautiful elf woman from inside her robe pulls out a small flat red crystal. Its the size of her palm and it has a weird language on it the 2 have never seen .]

:Curious hmm?..... This is a recent device that came out a few years ago. Its called a transmitter and with it i can easily communicate with whoever i share my crystal link with.

[The 2 looking dumb founded. Wish to ask more about the mysterious object but there objective is pressing on there minds.]

kai: um miss

ryyla: Ryyla is fine.

kai: Ryyla is it..... we would really like to know our sons potential if that's okay.

[After feeling this pressure kai was being rather meek. ]

ryyla: tch some people. Fine fine give me the boy.

[Ryyla reaching out as tara hesitantly gives sen to her. Holding sen ,she immediately notices the bandages.]

ryyla: Why are his eyes wrapped.

tara: Hes sensitive to light even just a bit and it could blind him for good.

ryyla: hmmm

[As ryyla looked over sens body she places her hand over his tiny chest covering most of him. She then slowly forms a concentrated ball of white light no bigger then her finger tip in the center of her palm, and with the tiniest nudge forces her mana into his chest.

Sen feeling this invasion inside his body, with out the use of his eyes becomes terrified and quickly concentrates mana in his upper chest. Expelling ryylas mana directly out his body and back into her hand. Ryyla instantly jerks her hand away from sens chest scaring tara and kai.]

kai: What are you doing?

[Ryla ignoring the twos worried expression.]

ryyla: hmmm interesting.

kai/tara: What ?

[Ryyla, once more builds up mana in to her palm. This time the concentrated ball of mana is the size of a small fist. She once again inserts it into sens chest. This time sen cant force it out, it slowly circulates thru out his body into his lower stomach and then back into his chest .]

kai: So

tara: Whats his potential.

ryyla: OH MY GOD he could be.

tara/kai: What!!

rylla: h....he could be a legendary 10th rank.......................hmmmmmmm ..........WHATS THIS??
