Chapter 22|| Adventurers Guild

After traveling along the western route for nearly 2 weeks, sen and the now much smaller convoy arrived at the city of Jules. It was a medium sized city with only a few million people within it, but it felt very lively in the city.

As the people  entered the city they soon started to disperse and only a few people remained with thomas. Those who did remain were all from  the night watch. Sen still riding with thomas and claire sat there and quietly pondered something. Thomas noticing this interrupted sens thought's.

"Sen my boy whats the matter, you look as if you've lost something in that brain of yours."

"It's nothing, I just couldn't help thinking about those zombies. I mean don't you find it odd that there were so many in the middle of nowhere ."

"Hmm maybe, there could have been a group of bandits that fell victim to a zombie and  formed that horde, or maybe there was a battle and someone missed a body. Sen remember this you always gotta remove a head after death or they'll come back.I wouldn't worry about it too much though things like that are once in a lifetime occurrences."

"Hmm maybe."

As  thomas and the night watch made their way through the city they came across a large building colored a grey-black. It looked identical to the mage's guild everything except for the color.

"Alright, men were here."

Thomas shouted.

"Where is here?"

Sen looked around and all of the night-watch were headed inside the grayish building."

"Sen this here is the adventure's guild. You see me and the night watch were originally hired to escort all those people to Jules. It was our mission, and since we completed it we've come to collect our reward."

"What you're an adventurer? then why did your daughter accompany you?"

Thomas let out a small chuckle.

"Haha, well you see, me and claire had already planned to move to Jules so claire could be here with her mother. So I sought out the next convoy to Jules you know it's safer in more numbers. They just so happened to need one more guard before they could set off and I just so happened to show up, it all just worked out that way."

"Oh, so you traveled and made a bit of pocket money, not bad old man."

"Hahaha, just a little bit."

Sen didn't have much else to say. Now that he was in the city he quickly wanted to find a teacher so he could learn the sword as well as martial arts.

"Well, since I've made it here I guess its time for me to leave you guys."

"Wait wait sen, you can't leave yet dad and I haven't properly thanked you."

"Naw its fine were here it's done so with that I'll take my leave."

"Sen my boy wait a moment why don't you come in for a few minutes?"

"What for?"

"Well I know you weren't officially hired on, but you did protect us. You definitely deserve a reward for your deeds."

"Hmm, a reward, I don't know about that."

"Come on its gold why turn down gold when someone's offering."

"Well, I've never had money before it might be nice to receive some compensation."

Claire and thomas both looked at him with shock, claire yelled out.

"What you've never had money before, with your magical talent.  I'm surprised you don't work as a royal guard or at least as a B rank adventurer. How is this possible? how have you survived all this time with no money?"

"Hmm, oh you know I've just never needed any. Every time I was hungry my dad would get food and drink that's all I really required."

The two once more just stared at sen like he was crazy.

He's never had money with talent like that.

What is going on with the world?

"Sen my boy I've been meaning to ask you, are your parents alive?"

"They are, what about them?"

"It's nothing, I'm just curious did you get separated from them or something. What were you doing in the middle of the road by yourself?"

"Nah I didn't get separated  I chose to leave, I was cooped up for far too long it was so boring. As for being in the road, well when I first left my parents I started to run all over the place, you know to taste a bit of freedom and I kind of just got lost."

Thomas soon wondered if sen was some type of noble of some sort. The fact that the boy never needed any money he was always kept at home and the way sen spoke sometimes like he looked down on people. But for his parents to let him leave like that thomas spoke up.

"So sen where are your parents."

"Oh, right now they should be somewhere in Listian."

"What in the holy continent but that's, that's so far ."

"Dad where is the holy continent?"

"Claire that's well, it's almost 20,000 miles to the west of here, it's across the great ocean of  Plarius. Sen to travel to there would take nearly 7 years, but you yourself are almost 10 how is this possible?"

"Dad he's teasing you, the other day I asked him where his home was and he told me it was the mythical valley of Treya."

Sen couldn't help put on a smile it was now that he realized that even if he told people the truth they just wouldn't believe where he came from. He decided it was best to just not talk about it, at the same time thomas saw sens smile he felt a bit embarrassed.

"Sen if you don't want to tell me that's fine but please don't tease adults ."

Sen couldn't help but laugh a little."

"Sorry, sorry, so shall we go in?"

Sen grabbed claire's hand and took off to the door, claire couldn't help but blush a little from having her hand squeezed by sen. Thomas ran in as well, as they all came in the other night watch from the convoy all had smiles on their face. They each had received 10 gold from the escort mission, the 18 men and 2 women were all sitting around a few tables.

Some could be seen laughing while others were seen repeatedly counting the ten gold, just to make sure it was really there. Each of them had escorted the convoy for slightly over a month and they made more than double what an average citizen would make were they to work for a year.

Most were extremely happy while 2 or 3 were a bit upset. They had endured a horde of zombies, they felt like 10 gold was not enough to have risked their life. Either way when sen walked in they all couldn't help but smile at him after he saved them they all learned his name and they all respected him. Soon thomas approached the counter and was discussing something wth the lady behind it after a while thomas shouted out.

"I want to see who's in charge right now."

Everyone hearing this looked on in surprise and some even walked over to thomas, sen as well walked over and asked.

"Thomas what's the matter?"

"These damn jerks after everything we've been through they won't pay you the reward for the mission since you're not officially an adventurer."

"All this for my sake?"

"Of course if it weren't for you we'd all be walking corpses there's no way we would have survived ."

After a few seconds, a tall thick man that was as big as a boulder made his way out from behind a closed door and quickly approached thomas.

"Who dares make trouble in my guild?"

Thomas seeing this man whose skin was like stone shivered a bit, he could tell that this man was at the 8th rank. Thomas immediately had a much gentler and calm tone, he said.

"I'm not really making trouble it's just that my friend here helped in the mission and just because he's not an official adventurer she won't pay him his reward."

"Your friend, who is your friend?"

Thomas as well as the others all fixed their gaze onto sen, this big man followed their gaze and immediately started to laugh.

"Hahaha this is the friend you spoke of he's a bit small to be taking on missions isn't he. Plus I can feel it he's only at the 3rd rank hahaha, this is what I was called out for."

No one  could say a word, they knew that what sen displayed that night was definitely not at the 3rd rank. They knew it, but it still felt as if he were only at the 3rd rank. After that night, no one knew for sure what lvl sen truly was at.

"Who cares what my rank is, for you to laugh at a child doesn't that make you petty."

Everyone looked on in shock at sens words, the man's brow furrowed he couldn't believe what he had just heard. This child had just called him petty, the man couldn't let is slide.

"What boy you dare to call me a petty person."

"Yes, I dare, any and all that act like you I call petty and not only that I also call you an idiot for being so short sighted ."

Everyone's mouth was left agape and their eyes were as big as a carts wheel the guild master, however, was simply enraged.

"Take it back boy ."

"Take what back?you being petty or you being an idiot. Because if I take back idiot then you'll still be petty for not paying up and if I only take back petty then you'll still be an idiot for not asking me to take back both.Either way now everyone knows your just a fool hahaha, an idiotic petty fool that suits you quite nicely ."

The guild master had a look of fire in his eyes he quickly thought.

Guild Master's POV

"How dare this little bastard call me such things I can't let it stand. If people were to find out that a kid treated me this way I'd lose all respect and no one would follow me ever again. I know, I'll punch him  just to teach him a little lesson I'll hold my power back to just the 4th lvl so he'll only have a few broken bones. That way I won't get in trouble for killing him, they'll even say I was being merciful. Yes just one quick punch to his chest that ought to do it ."

"Are you sure you won't take back your words?"

"Ok, ill take them back."

Everyone was stunned.

"What you will?"

"Of course, but only if you get down on your knees and kiss my shoe and beg. Only then will I take back my words, but I gotta say even if I take my words back everyone here knows the truth it won't do ya much good."

"You god damn imp."

The guild master struck out towards sen with his fist like lightning, it was so fast that no one there could see its movement. Well no one there but sen, but even though he could see it he didn't try to avoid it he simply stood there. And as this huge fist struck at sens chest before it landed it was stopped by a wall of air, the guild master immediately withdrew his hand.

"Air armor, so you use the element of wind."

Hearing this the night-watch who saw sen fight the zombies realized that this was what he was using when the zombies surrounded him. Know wonder they couldn't scratch or bite him.

"Oh, you just tried to hit me huh, now this is self-defense."

"Don't push your luck kid I was holding back there's no way you'd be able to take my full force blow."

"We won't know unless you try or maybe this really is your limit and you actually are an idiot and weak."

The guild master couldn't take it anymore he had never been so mad in his entire life, he instinctively struck out this time with the 8th lvl.  A full force blow and once more sen didn't avoid it. The blow once again hit that wall of wind, but this time sen concentrated his wall of wind directly where the man's fist had hit.As his hand landed the bones in his hand all shattered at once, the huge man crumbled to his knees in agony.

"My hand, you broke my hand."

"Hahaha, no, you broke your own hand I just stood there and let you, now since I am defending myself I hope you don't mind dying."

The man was paralyzed with fear this kid was really gonna kill him,he wanted to get away run away somewhere and hide but this boy his pressure was too strong. There's no way he's at the 3rd rank. Sen gathered a blade of wind in his palm and made it sword-shaped, he then swung down with a speed clearly surpassing the guild masters.

Right, as the blade was no more than an inch away from the man's neck, sens blade was stopped, but not only stopped, the wind itself dissipated. The air was being pulled away from not only sen but everyone else and then a supple voice could be heard.

"That's enough boy, you go to far in someone else's place of business."

The big man and the girl behind the counter quickly bow and in unison they both say.

"Welcome back guild master."

Everyone was left in a daze they had thought that the big man was the guild master, but here they were bowing to this person calling them the guild master. The person most shocked though was none other then sen, he quickly shouted out.

"Ryyla what are you doing here?"

"Hmmm, do you know my sister?"
