Chapter 6|| Interrogation

[Trendale Village] [Boar Foot Inn]

[Nearly empty due to an oppressive atmosphere, only 10 people were present. In a corner booth sat Dreyer, he slowly sipped his mug of nore chutes ale, while quietly reading a report. As 4 people sat in front of him trembling nervously not daring to make even the slightest sound, he continued to sip his drink flipping a page in the report he continued to read without the slightest change in expression . Standing behind him were 5 knights. Each wearing black suits of full body armor, and each equipped with steel blades slightly longer than there arms. An insignia of a purple bird with a silver star above its head on each suits chest plate, just over where the heart would be. This symbol represented the region lords army. No one in the entire country would dare go against the region lord, and that in turn represented his army as well. Dreyer continuing to read his report, one of the people sitting across from him slowly spoke up .]

mary: s....sir dreyer was it, may i ask why you've gathered us together.

[The inn keeper john quickly looked at his wife mary trying to signal her to hush up with his eyes. But just then, dreyer slowly set down his mug and looked up at the 4 of them.]

Dreyer: Mary,john,an old merchant by the name of scot was it, and also the farmer .....sam. You 4 are witnesses to an ongoing case.

[All 4 suddenly gasped not having a clue as to what the man was talking about. Each thinking but not recalling any crimes they've witnessed, seeing there surprise dreyer quickly added.]

Dreyer:1 month ago on the 26th, a couple carrying a small child, the man missing an arm covered in blood and the women as pale as paper. Entered this very Inn and received a room. The following morning this very same man appeared just outside the village covered in even more blood, 6 days later this same couple was spotted buying supplies thru out this village, and there after leaving quickly .

[Taking a breath he followed up.]

Dreyer: John,mary you gave them the room. Sam you saw the man the following morning ,and scot you were seen selling them something that resembled a map. Now here's how this is going to work, i will ask each of you some questions, and you will each answer me. If feel you are lying i will kill you immediately, nod for me if you understand .

[All 4 quickly nodded, each gulping as they saw a slight grin on dreyers face.]

Dreyer: Good.

[Each of the knights behind him quickly looked at each other, knowing that they're leader was absolutely serious, and if one of the witnesses dared to lie to dreyer, the knights knew that the poor life of that individual would be forfeit.]

Dreyer :Now one step at a time john. They're description, the man first what did he look like.

[John still trembling, began to describe the mans features. He didnt dare lie, and said what he said exactly as how he remembered. Dreyer signaled one of the knights who is a capable artist to start drawing the mans description, and with a quick step the knight he signaled quickly took out a pen and some parchment from a sack.He then sat down next to dreyer and began to draw.]

John: He was tall.Just over 6 feet. He had one arm, only his left, but it was big rippled with muscles. His chin was slightly squared, and his eyes were black, his nose was not too long and not too short. His hair was also black, very short, his eyebrows were a little bushy, and his face was slightly wide. His skin was white slightly tanned from the sun that's....... that's all.

dreyer: Now the woman.

John: She was beautiful.

[Hearing this mary quickly elbowed her husband in his rib cage. Seeing this some of the knights began to laugh.]

john: What he said not to lie.

[Dreyer brows furrowed listening to his men chuckle. He slammed his fist down on the table causing it crumble into pieces, yelling in a loud booming voice.]

Dreyer:ENOUGH!!!!

[The knights immediately went quiet, and the 4 people started shaking with fear even harder then before .The knight that was drawing got up quickly picked up the pen and parchment from the floor , and sat back down at a nearby table. Dreyer quickly regained his composure , showing that once again unchanging expression.]

Dreyer: John continue,

John: ye...yes........The woman was average height, her bosom slightly bigger then average.

[Yelled]

Dreyer:THE FACE!!

[Dreyer now becoming increasingly more impatient folded his arms.]

dreyer: Continue.

John: Right the face, her eyes were azure blue, her nose was small ,slightly curved up at the tip. She had a few freckles slightly above her cheeks, and her face was slightly rounded narrowing at her chin. With long flowing blonde hair that seemed to shine like gold.

dreyer: and the child

john: I........ i didn't see its face. They always kept it covered around me.

dreyer: Any one else, did anyone see the child's face.

[The other 3 shook there heads no.]

mary: Just as my husband said.They always covered it but...

dreyer: but

mary: It was quiet.

dreyer: So. That's normal.

mary: No sir. The child, i never heard it make a noise, it didn't even cry.it was quite eerie.

dreyer: hmmm and did they say anything to you did they speak to anyone while they were here

mary: Not much. The husband bought a few recovery elixirs from me, besides that, just simple greetings small talk and such.

dreyer: When did he buy the elixirs.

mary: That first night that they were here. The woman had a huge cut on her back, and when i suggested a healing elixir he refused. Stating he could heal her him self.

[Dreyer became more and more curious, as well as a bit confused.]

dreyer: Sam what did the man do after you saw him, did he see you.

sam: He didn't see me, it didn't even look like he could tell i was there.

dreyer: What do you mean.

sam: Well its just that when i saw him, i told him not to come near me. Seeing as how he was covered in blood and all, but it was like he didn't even hear me, let alone see me. He just ran past me towards the inn, i was terrified .

dreyer: Did he do anything else .

sam : After that i'm afraid i went home ,and locked my door. The man just didn't look normal, like he'd seen the devil or something.

dreyer: hmmm, merchant scot was it. What was it you sold them, was it indeed a map and if so where to.

Merchant Scot: Yes sir it was indeed a map. It was to Cordel, it was the only place they seemed interested in. That's all i know.

[Dreyer signaling again to his knight that was drawing, and when he did ,the knight came over showed the 2 sketches to dreyer. After dreyer saw them he nodded, then the knight showed the pictures to the witnesses.]

Dreyer: Is this them.

[Looking at the sketches, the 4 were astounded at how accurate they were, they each quickly nodded.]

Dreyer: Good, men we have a lead, jax make some copies now.

Jax the artist knight: yes sir.

[In seconds jax laid down blank pieces of parchment along with the sketches. He then pushed mana into both of his hands, and with his left poured ink all over his right. Instead of the ink spilling, his hand quickly soaked it all up. He then placed it over a blank sheet of parchment, and the other over the sketches. Within seconds a black light began to shine from his palms, and soon after the ink in his hand slowly flowed out and onto the parchment. Quickly becoming an exact copy. After he was done their were dozens of copy's.]

Dreyer: Were splitting up in teams of 2. They're headed north, there are many city's villages and towns between here and Cordel.

Your team will go to the ones in in the west, and yours to all the ones in the east. Me and Jax will head to the ones in the north. At each stop leave a copy of these wanted posters, check ask around, and head to the next place. If you find them immediately capture them, but be cautious. This man may be responsible for destroying a village, if you can't capture them then follow them and report it to me, using your mana crystal transmitters. Any questions.

Knights: no sir.

Dreyer: leave your horses we'll be faster on foot.

[Somewhere along the way]

[The fire burned them.....it left them in ruin and ash...i killed them for the sake of my wife and son. I watched as the Drogens ate there fill ,and i listened to the screams of the innocent, the women, the children. Each one mutilated, and each ones eyes filled with fear and sorrow. A few of them tried to runaway, a small family just like my own, and as they neared the end of the village i cut them down.]

villager:kai w...why..

[SLASH]

[As i stare at there limp body's. I see my self there lying next to them, covered in another's blood, and as i look down at my face i'm horrified to see a smile on my lips, and 2 red glowing eyes in my sockets.I immediately awaken in a cold sweat. It's been a month since we've started travelling, on our way to Cordel ,and every night i see the same dream, the same nightmare. I used to wake up crying ,but now i feel as though i couldn't cry even if i wanted to. The sounds of the forest at night quickly sooth my mind, as i sit up i notice my wife's beautiful sleeping face and i unconsciously stroke her hair. And as i do soon a sense of guilt quickly fills my heart once again, as i look at my son lying between us i see that hes awake, not crying nor is he making a sound. Just simply looking up at the stars, watching, and as i peer into his crimson eyes i feel a deep sense of fear. Not of him but of who else ill have to kill in the future, but what has me the most afraid isn't my son or those ill have to face, it's my self because since that night deep in the recesses of my mind there's this itching feeling, a small voice that i try to convince my self isn't there but the more i ignore it the more intense this itch gets. and lately its been getting louder and louder.

(kill....kill....Kill.........KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!) Im snapped out of my daze as i feel a small amount of mana building up around me. As i jump to my feet i look around feverishly to find the source, but i see no one i quickly lean down to wake my wife when i notice it, my son his eyes are glowing.( the mana is it him?)Confused by this isuddenly sense something flying at my face at high speed. I quickly pivot my body and punch out at the object , a rock turns to dust as my fist strikes it.( a rock) Soon two more come flying as well, but i simply bat them away and my wife quickly wakes up.]

tara: Kai whats happening!!

kai:I don't know protect sen.

[I draw my sword in no time and when i do the mana simply vanishes. (what ) I look around once more and there's nothing. I look back at my wife and son and i notice sens eyes are no longer glowing, and within seconds hes fallen asleep.](was it him why?)

Sen:(I'm looking up at the night sky watching the stars and a few of them i can even name. As i ponder how. the intense pain once again tears at my mind, but i try to find answers anyway, and that screaming abyss sucks at my soul what is this? As i endure the pain i sense a large amount of blood lust pressuring me, pushing down on me like a wall, and as i snap out of my thoughts i see who's pouring it out towards me. It's my father a sense of dread soon fills me and i unconsciously gather mana in my body, throwing a nearby rock at my fathers face. As he smashes it into dust my fear grows exponentially, and my power out of my control quickly throws 2 more at him, but he simply bats them away. As i try to throw one my self, i cant. My body is exhausted, i try to gather more mana but my small body is simply to tired and i'm forced into sleep.)

kai:His eyes were glowing again, i think....... i think it was him that threw the rocks.

tara:But why at you, why did he attack.

[Tara now growing frantic staring at sen and then her husband.]

kai: i

[As kai wonders him self he soon realizes it was his own blood lust, sighing he says.]

kai:It was my fault.

tara:What do you mean, why would it be your fault.

Kai: I accidentally released some blood lust, sen must be sensitive to it.

tara:But i didn't feel anything how can sen.

kai: You've seen it your self the boy has mana of course he can sense it.

tara: I'm saying i have mana too so why didn't i sense it.

kai:Yes but your mana potential is so low, sens mana potential must be greater than yours.

tara: How can that be hes only barely a month old.

kai: I dont know.

[Kai and tara both looked at sen and then at the same time.]

tara/kai: his eyes.

tara: There must be a connection to his eyes and his mana.

kai:Last time when you were attacked, didn't you say sens eyes were glowing just as he used his ability.

tara:yes

kai:Before you woke up i sensed mana quickly gathering around us, and when i looked around they're was no one in sight. But as i looked at sen once again his eyes were glowing,and that's the moment when those rocks came flying at me. Maybe his eyes can some how absorb mana .

tara:But it was simply too fast, who can gather mana that quickly with out an elixir.

kai:If not our son then who, they'res no one else around, its got to be his eyes.

tara: If his manas at this level now then where will it be when hes an adult, and what if he attacks you again.

kai: He wont, and as for his mana we'll have to get him checked and quickly. Where is the nearest city.

[Tara not wanting to argue pulls out the map and looked for the nearest city. Finding a small out of the way city so as to not attract too much attention she found a place called Freyor.]

tara: This ones not too far merely a week if there's no obstacles maybe sooner.

kai Looking closely at the map he says.

kai: When we get there we'll quickly find someone to test sen we'll resupply and leave before we attract too many looks.

tara: Then wed better get some sleep so we can get a fresh start tomorrow, good night.

kai: Night.
