ch 44

Within the mind of all children are dreams of fantasy full of imagination and joyous thoughts. They dream of eating sweets until their full, they dream of flying high in the sky like a mighty dragon, they dream of playing with all of their friends outside, chasing each other in the streets and swimming in streams. That is a child's mind. That is what all children dream of, all children except one. Within the dark recesses of a young boy's mind, a sinister voice echo's forth in the shadows.

"Hehehe, once more you've survived boy."

Within the darkness, sen eyes snap open. In a place of blackness, void of joy and dreams replaced with that mind tearing abyss. A pair of glowing red eyes that do nothing but stare at sen as though he were prey.

"Who is that? I've heard you before haven't I ? answer me, what are you?"

The eyes paused for but a moment before responding in that same sinister tone.

"Hehehe, what am i."

The voice didn't answer a single question and the eyes simply fade away into the black abyss, vanishing as though they never existed in the first place. Immediately sen's consciousness is thrown into a chaotic disorder and that same soul-sucking, mind-shredding pain takes over him once more. The pain is so bad it is unbearable causing sen to scream out in torment wishing for it to cease.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"

Sen snaps awake frightening a young maid at his bedside causing her to release a shrill of a cry.

"EEK!! ill...ill get your parents."

And with that, the young maid rushes out of the room with the sounds of *pitter-patter* steps following behind. Sen's entire body is dripping with cold sweat, his breathing is erratic and his entire body trembles with pure fear. His mind is left in a bit of a daze and then the pain finally stops. He slowly regains his composure and he notices he's in an unfamiliar room. He himself is in a white bed surrounded by a small room. Nearby, a window hangs open as a slight breeze floods the room. The smell of fresh wood and the sound of hammering fills his senses.

His mind finally begins to calm and once more he hears the sound of footsteps, except these footsteps, are approaching the room. As the door opens his mother and father both rush in. His mother immediately jumps on him embracing him tightly whilst balling her eyes out. His dad stands beside his bed, on his face is a worried expression. He says nothing but instead places his hand gently on sen's shoulder as tara continues to cry uncontrollably. After a while, his mothers crying slowly fades and for a moment it's just silence until sen finally says.

"Mom, dad, I'm fine."

Once more tara breaks out in tears and kai ask.

"Son, you.... are you sure?"

Sen noticed their stares and felt a bit uncomfortable. Once more he had fought until he passed out. It seemed he was starting quite a bad habit of fighting until he faints he honestly couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

"Dad, I'm completely fine."

Tara looked deeply into sen's eyes with a puppy face.

"Sen, are you really alright?"

Sen saw his mom's sad little face and a bit of snot was coming out of her nose forming a little bubble he couldn't help but laugh.

"Hahaha."

Kai as well saw his wife's face and broke out into a small chuckle.

"Hehehe, honey."

Tara had no clue what was going on, her son was just in a coma and as soon as he wakes he and her husband start to laugh. These past few days her emotions were all over the place worrying for her son. Now the two were laughing at her. This caused her emotions to build to a crescendo until finally she exploded out in anger.

"You jerk, you jerk, you dummy!! my son! my husband! you, you, YOU IDIOTS!!!"

She then began to pinch her son and her husband both at the same time while still yelling loudly.

"IDIOTS!! IDIOTS!! IDIOTS!!"

In the corridor and even in the many rooms down the way everyone could hear tara shouting and some guards in the vicinity immediately rushed to the room only to be waved away by the person just outside of it. Tara continued to shout and pinch until someone finally interrupted.

"Ow, ow, ow, mom please I almost died."

"Ow, ow, ow, honey c'mon it was just a small laugh."

"No, you two don't get off the hook that easily."

"Kukuku, Sen you're finally awake and you're already playing tsk, tsk, tsk."

Ryyla had just stepped in the small room, her hair and eyes were once again their original color and sen couldn't help but stare for a moment at her beauty. Ryyla quickly noticed this and her cheeks became a slightly pinkish hue, she quickly laughed it off.

"Hehe, if you keep staring sen you'll go blind."

Sen shook away the thoughts and asked.

"You said finally awake. Just how long have I been asleep?... and oh my god mom you're still pinching me, Ow, Ow."

Tara gave one more fierce pinch with a slight twist before she finally stopped. On her face hung a small smile that was filled with satisfaction.

"Hmph, it's just a little pinch, hmph."

"Kukuku, your family is still so funny."

"Anyway, teacher, you said finally awake. How long have I been out?"

Ryyla didn't hesitate she looked at sen and said in a serious tone.

"2 weeks!! you've been in a coma for 2 weeks."

"What!! how is that possible, last time was only a few days."

Hearing sen's words the three looked at him and in unison said.

"This happened before?"

Sen sighed and took a deep breath, there was no reason to hide it so he told them what had happened. He told them that after his first outing in the woods he exhausted his power fighting the undead and fainted at the end for several days afterward. The three's faces each looked worried, this was news to them, tara asked.

"Why didn't you tell us earlier we could of ......"

"What could you have done, it's already happened its over. I didn't tell you because it would have just caused unnecessary worry so what's the point, plus the same face your making now like it's impossible. Like you think I'm weak. Every time I wish to do anything you two always baby me, I'm sick of it, I hate it. Like you think nothing of what I can do. I am the fastest rising mage in the world and I'm treated like I need my ass wiped. How do you think that makes me feel huh? even after I just fought that panther I just.... I just....."

Sen couldn't finish his sentence and for some reason he even felt a bit angry at his parents. It seemed that no matter what he did or could do his parents would always treat him like a child and even though he knew his anger was unfounded because his parents were just worried, it made him feel even angrier, but not at his parents but at himself. He knew it was ridiculous to be mad at them for such petty reasons, but he just couldn't help it. To him it felt like they were holding him....

He quickly erased that thought from his mind before it continued and he soon felt guilty and ungrateful. He knew what they had to do to save him when he was an infant.He knew what they both gave up and so he extinguished that line of thinking from himself. Meanwhile, kai and tara both stared at each other in astonishment. This was too sudden, they never imagined that their worrying was causing their son so much distress. They too knew they were being a bit forceful and worrying a lot, but that's just what parents do.

Tara couldn't help but think of her relationship with her own mother and how she felt pressured and stress by her parents and how it forced her away. She didn't want the same for her and sen, so she simply gave a small smile and said a few words to.

"Sen, I had no idea you felt this way I.....I'm sorry, me and your father will try not to be so forceful. We'll still worry, but that's just what people that care for each other do."

But hearing this kai was completely the opposite.

"Tara honey, what are you talking about? he's still just a child. Of course we have to worry about him. What if he gets injured or worse, what if he dies. I can't agree with you on this one, not at all."

Soon an argument erupted between tara and kai which led them into the hallway. Ryyla just looked at sen with accusing eyes.

"You done messed up now."

"Dammit, I knew I shouldn't have said anything, now they're both fighting and it's my fault."

"Kukuku, while I do agree it is your fault.... "

"What! that's not a very comforting response..."

"However, sen, couples fight, and sometimes they fight over how to raise their children. And although you may act like an adult sometimes, you must remember that you are still only a kid. You can only do so much. So what I'm trying to say is. At least let your parents worry over you, I wish I had something like that."

Sen felt incredibly guilty.

"Ryyla I'm sorry I didn't mean to bring up bad memories ."

"Hehehe, sen, that's what you don't get."

As she said this ryyla stood up and walked toward the door.

"What do you mean?"

Just before ryyla walked out she turned and said in a soft tone.

"The memories, their not bad."

After a while sen finally got up and stretched. As he was thinking over some things he once more wondered about those eyes within his mind.

"Just what exactly were those eyes. Are they always watching me."

Thinking up to here sen couldn't help but feel a chill go down his spine as though someone really were right in the room watching him. It was then that sen felt something behind him, he felt a power far greater than his swell up behind him. So he quickly gathered a wind blade in his hand and in one motion turned and swung with a quick speed, but as he did a wall of rock formed in front of his wind blade dissipating his blade immediately. The noise from the impact sounded as though someone took a sword and scratched at a rock making a weird noise that made one cringe and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The defender yelled out.

"Kid stop, just relax, I'm not gonna hurt ya, matter of fact I'm the one who saved ya."

"What?"

The one who stood before sen was none other than brawn. After a bit of explaining, brawn convinced him and told him how he had saved him and ryyla just before death. Sen had wondered how he and especially ryyla had survived, but because there was just one interruption after the other he didn't get a chance to ask someone. It was now that he finally understood how he was saved, sen gave a slight nod.

"Then I have to thank you for saving me and for saving my teacher. Without you, I'm afraid me and my teacher would have both died, if not from the strike then the explosion would have surely ended us, so for that I truly thank you."

Brawn gave a hearty smile.

"No problem kid, I gotta thank you as well ."

Sen gave the man a curious glance.

"Ah well you see I have friends in this city and if you two didn't stop that panther then the whole city would have been lost and so too would their lives. I rushed here at my fastest speed as soon as I got word, but who would have thought in less than 20 minutes the city would look like that. Any later and the panther would have woke up and finished off the rest of the city."

Hearing this sen's face turned to shock, he shouted.

"What!!! the panthers still not dead, then where the hell is he?"

Brawn quickly replied back.

"Relax, relax, he's already in prison."

But hearing these words only made sen start to lose his shit even more. What kind of prison could possibly hold such a beast. Brawn noticing this thought it to be quite funny, but at the same time he knew he was being a bit mean with his vagueness.

"Sen, the prison he's in now is inescapable. It's in a place where very few can get to. As a matter of fact if it weren't for ryyla I'm afraid we wouldn't have even been able to get him there."

Sen calmed down quite a bit before asking.

"Where is this prison?"

But brawn simply shook his head.

"Sen, in this world there are less than 10 people who know where it is located and although 10 know of its exact location only 5 of them can get to it."

"What is this prison called?"

"Aquarizarg, it is known as one of the world's most dangerous places. It is a prison that has lasted for more than 100 thousand years. It's for rare prisoners who can't be jailed or punished in the normal way like this undying panther. No other place in the world can hope to contain him, therefore, that place is necessary."

Sen's eyes lit up with imagination, he had never known there was such a crazy place in the world, He thought to himself as soon as he has time he's asking ryyla all about it. It was then that he thought of something.

"Wait a minute. Brawn, why are you in my room?"

Brawn stood there for a moment staring blankly like he himself had forgotten something. It was then like a light went off in his mind he shouted out.

"AH!! that's right, I came to get you."

"Hmm, what for?"

Brawns temperament brightened and he smiled excitedly and said.

"The city lord want's to meet with you, I believe he has a reward for you."
