Chapter|| 3 Desperate flee

[The Forest right outside of Seedal]

The night sky quickly descends. As the stars illuminate the dark forest few animals can be heard while Tara flees for her son's life.

*pant huff pant*

Tara's POV

My throat ........it burns. How long have I been running, I'm scared I can barely see and I'm tired....so tired.

But just as she slows down to catch her breath.

" Where are you!!"

*pant pant pant*

She takes off once more only getting a few hundred feet before she must stop again.Desperately looking for an escape she comes to a small clearing where she soon trips over something, as she falls she wraps her body over Sen to make sure he doesn't get hurt. as she tries to stumble onto her feet she hears...

"You fucking bitch!!"

A cold chill runs down her spine and a fear in which she's never felt before grips her, and as she turns around to see the holder of this voice she's quickly paralyzed with fear.the look on the mans face is distorted with rage.a small whimper escapes her mouth.

" Ple..please don't, please please please."

" After chasing you all across gods green Gordonia you expect me to what just go.No fucking way. I'm killing you then your little monster."

" No, please."

Tara got on her knees and was begging the man but he slowly raised his sword up, as he swung down with his sword Tara turned around and was immediately slashed on her back, as the throbbing burning pain hit her she looked into Sen's eyes and for the first time they actually looked beautiful to her. As she peered into them it looked almost as if they were glowing but with the pain on her back and the bad lighting she couldn't really tell.

*Sobbing*

" Sen I love you."

Just as the man was swinging his sword towards her head for a finishing blow.

*WHACK*

Something hit the man very quickly over the head knocking him to the ground.As the man lay there bleeding he looked around feverishly to see who had hit him.

" Ow, w..who"

But no one was there.

As Tara looked for who saved her she spotted what had hit the man over the head, to her shock she noticed it was all white

Tara's POV

"What kind of stick is all white."

Looking closer she noticed that it was a bone, where did that come from she thought.Noticing Tara's look the man too saw that it was a bone, a look of confusion appeared on his face and as the moonlight broke through the clouds looking closer at the clearing they were in they both noticed several bones. Mostly broken but the amount was ridiculous, some animal and some of other races fear swept the man and he turned pale white.

"Fuck, this is, were in a drogens nest."

As soon as he uttered the words Tara realized as well now her fate was all but sealed.Clutching sen she closed her eyes crying and awaited death, as soon as the man said the words he immediately turned and started to dash away but it was already too late, a quick trembling of the dirt beneath the man's feet and it shot out like an arrow leaving a bow.

*CRUNCH*

The drogen took one clean bite out of the man's side killing him instantly followed by more crunching and chewing noises,.As Tara heard this all she could do is picture the drogen in her head devouring the man piece by piece and soon it would be her turn.

Remembering the drogens appearance she soon lost all hope. A drogen was not a big creature only the size of an average dog but its size wasn't what was frightening about it.Drogens were quick faster than any average human so she could not escape it and their mouth took up half their body with scales covering their entire body so they could just as quickly burrow through the ground and teeth almost as sharp as a sword.

When hunting for drogens most parties consist of at least 20 adventurers, wearing specially made armor and they would be lucky to not have 1 death among them.To lure a drogen you simply find their nest and start banging on the ground but the most traditional method is of course blood drogens are put into almost a frenzy like state at the smell of it.

Just then, Tara felt more trembling 2 more drogens shot out near the dead man and began feasting on his flesh. Bones crunching blood gushing and innards being pulled. Everything being devoured even the clothes and boots only a bit of bone remained, nothing else.Followed by silence, then soon all she could hear was her own heart thumping she dared not even breathe.

*ba bump ba bump ba bump ba bump*

Just when she couldn't take anymore she gasped for a breath of fresh air and as she did she heard a large growl directly in front of her.

"GRRRRRA!!"

"KYAAAAA!!"

She screamed and waited to die clutching her child even tighter nearly hurting him, 5 seconds 1 minute 2... but nothing happened. As she slowly opened her eyes to peek all 3 of the drogens were standing completely still not making a single move.

She looked at them and noticed that their eyes were glowing a faint red, as she saw this she immediately looked down to see Sen's eyes as well glowing even brighter she thought.

Tara's POV

"What is this?"

Then right at that moment Sen fell asleep, and as she continued to look at him she heard 3 thumps.She looked up to see with surprise that all 3 drogens had fallen over each of them were asleep. Sitting there confused looking at her son and the drogens she couldn't help but think monster but as soon as she did she quickly shook her head getting rid of such thought's.

Hearing a branch breaking in the distance she got up in no time and ran from there with haste going in the opposite direction of the noise and as she started to make her way back in the forest a man jumped out in front of her grabbing her arm, thinking it was another ex-neighbor she quickly screamed and clawed at the man's face.

"KYAA!! no, let go let go"

" It's me."

" No no no."

" TARA IT'S ME!!"

Tara coming to her senses recognizing the voice she said.

"Kai"

"Yes, the baby, you."

"He's.."

Thinking about his eyes she decided it was better to not tell her husband about them right now.

"He's what?"

" He's fine were both..."

As she relaxed a bit more she finally noticed her husband's state.

" Kai your arm, what, why."

"It's fine. I'm alive and you two are safe it's fine. I killed them now no one will come."

Sitting down against a tree they began to regain their breath, Tara looking up at Kai a gentle smile appearing on her face and in a soft voice she said.

" I love you."

Holding her in his left arm he pressed her head into his chest, quiet tears slowly rolling down his face.

" I love you too."

After almost an hour, they finally regained there composure and began to walk out of the forest back towards the road.

" What do we do now."

" We'll go to Trendale, its only about an hour away."

"But Sen's eyes people might see."

" We'll cover them here."

Kai quickly took a piece of his shirt into his mouth and with his left hand tore a small piece off.

" Take this and bind his eyes."

Tara took the bit of torn fabric and gently wrapped it around Sen's eyes tying the blindfold into a small knot.

After an hour or so of walking, they finally made it to Trendale village.

[Trendale Village]

Walking sluggishly they approached the only inn in the small village. Right outside of it loud laughter and singing could be heard

as they walked in, people turned to the entrance to see who entered and silence immediately followed.

Looking at this couple the man missing an arm covered in blood and the woman clutching a small child both of them looking exceedingly pale. The couple slowly approached the innkeeper desk and as they did all eyes were on them.

" Um."

Seeing them, the innkeeper did not know what to think, but his wife soon came up to him and pinched him on the arm causing him to quickly gather his composure and remembering to act professionally at all times.

" Hello, I am the innkeeper, my name is john and welcome to the Boar Foot inn how may I be of service."

Kai in a hurried manner.

" A room, give us a room."

"Certainly 1 room for 1 night is 15 coppers and if you stay for a week the deal is only 90 coppers."

"For the week then."

Kai quickly tossed a silver coin to the innkeeper causing the man to jump in surprise before catching it. Looking at it closely john accepted it and took out a small bronze key handing it over to Kai.

"This here is my wife mary she'll show you to your room."

"If you would please follow me your room is on the second floor."

With a bright smile, mary ushered the couple to follow her.

As they made their way to the room mary walked up the stairs and to the end of the hallway followed by the couple. As soon as they were up the stairs the other customers went back to laughing and singing. As they approached the room mary took out a second key and opened the door showing them in.

"For now the kitchen is closed, but if you would like breakfast then in the morning for an extra 10 coppers it will be ready for you when you wake up.Also, Madame, the bath is closed for now but if you would like i could bring you a bucket of warm water free of charge."

" Thank you, that would be wonderful."

Looking into the room it was quite small there was a small bed barely enough to fit one person on it, and in the corner sat a small desk and chair.

"If there's nothing else then I'll take my leave."

Just as she was exiting kai grabbed her arm.

" Wait."

Seeing this mary nearly screamed but she was a professional so she held it in but with a serious tone.

" Sir, take your hand off of me.

Kai lets go realizing his mistake.

" Sorry, I just needed something else."

Mary now a bit impatient.

"And what's that?"

" Do you sell recovery elixirs my wife was injured on her back."

Tara just now remembering the pain herself put on a brave face.

Mary looked at Tara's back and was shocked to see the gash and blood she quickly said with a worried expression.

"Recovery elixirs are 8 silver but sir she needs a healing potion."

"I can heal her I just need some elixir's, give me 2."

Kai quickly gave her 16 silver and she rushed out, within a minute she was back with the elixirs and bucket of warm water.Kai took them from her and then slammed the door shut. Gulping down a recovery elixir, in his chest he felt a calm warmth along with his stomach. As the mana absorption in his body boosted to nearly 100 x normal due to the elixir his mana regenerated in seconds.

"Tara Take off your shirt."

Tara set sen down and took off her top and turned her back towards Kai, as she did Kai gathered mana and that violet blue in his palm once more and placed it gently on her back. Within seconds, her back started healing. Muscles regrowing tissue regenerating and nerves reconnecting Tara grimaced at the slight pain of having her back nerves reconnecting. Soon she was fully healed and a soothing calm came over her.

"Kai what's the other elixir for?"
