ch 36|| Dinner

And like that the three left and walked across the street. The elderly couple was simply stunned. As they watched Sen leaving they couldn't believe what had just happened. They began to silently sob from Sen's kindness. They themselves were truly on hard times, but with Sen's kindness there shop could go on.

As the three entered the restaurant there noses were immediately hit with the smell of meat being fried and grilled. Their mouths watered instantly so they quickly found a table and took a seat. The excitement was all over Jana and Zara's face's they were happy just taking in the atmosphere of the room.

All around people were laughing drinking and eating. Joyous conversations could be heard everywhere and everyone had a smile on their lips. It was an intoxicating atmosphere one in which Zara's never felt and Jana hasn't felt in years. The three looked at the menus on the table and once more mother and daughter both of their eyes lit up and they both began to drool a bit.

A big woman that looked like she had been waiting tables all her life walked up and asked.

"What will it be?"

Zara and Jana both looked at sen curious as to what they could order, but before any of the three even shut a menu Sen spoke up.

"It all looks nice, tell ya what lady give us one of every dish."

The entire shop instantly became quiet and lots of stares focused on Sen's group, the waitress said excitedly.

"What really, wait, do you have the money for that?"

"Of course I do, wait how much is it?"

"We have some pretty expensive dishes and some are even specialties, all together that'd be 7 gold."

The waitress couldn't tell if the boy was kidding or not so she decided to tell him anyway just to see what his reaction would be, but to her and the other customers surprise the boy quickly pulled out 7 gold and handed it over.

The waitress was left a bit stunned, but then she quickly inspected it, confirming that it was real she shouted out.

"Its real !! "

The entire restaurant started to murmur and whisper.

"So the food."

Noticing Sen's glare and annoyed tone the waitress quickly bowed and ran towards the kitchen.

Jana had to ask.

"Sen are you sure, all this just for us?"

"Look, Jana, I'm going to tell you this now, I do what I want. So if I have the money and I want to spend it on some dinner for pretty girls then that's exactly what ill do. You can't be so willing to back down from the things you want in life or you'll die a sad death. Now who's ready for some food."

After a while, the place became lively again and people began to bring out some dishes to Sen's group, but before they did they pulled an extra table up to Sen's so they could place all the food. In the kitchen, you could hear people scrambling about trying to prepare everything and like that the first dish was set down on the table.

On the big plate was a whole chicken cooked in a savory sauce of onion and carrots, topped with a bit of salt and pepper as well as a few more herbs and spices. It was simply mouthwatering. What followed were potatoes mashed with milk and a rich butter covered in a dark gravy.

Then a plate with several slices of steak grilled perfectly with a mushroom sauce drizzled over it. Next was a large platter with a big fish on it filet and fried with many vegetables around it. The dishes continued to come one by one each different and each mouthwatering. Many people looked on with envy, sure some had gold, but who could buy so much so leisurely in a place like this.

"Well aren't you two going to eat?"

Sen began to dig in even though he had never starved or anything like that. There were many dishes he had never seen before, he dug into the food with a fury. Jana and Zara both looked at each other and then they two dug in like they were crazy, each bite they took their taste buds were overwhelmed with flavor, each time they chewed something it seemed to taste better than the last. The food was absolutely delicious and the mother and daughter were going at it just as ferociously as Sen was if not more so.

It was at this time that a group of 5 men walked up to Sen's table and one of the men who seemed to be the leader loudly said.

"Hey kid, mind if we join ya, you got plenty of food."

It seems some of the other customers became a bit too envious and decided to pick on Sen to try and extort a free meal.

But Sen simply ignored them and continued to ravage the food in his field of view.

The man and his comrades became angry rather quickly from being ignored. The man slammed his fist on the table and again shouted out.

"Don't ignore me you little shit."

It was then that the three actually noticed this sinister group. They were so enamored with the food that everything else was blocked out around them. The girls were a bit frightened, but the entire shop was quiet as a mouse. Sen heard what the man had said, he quickly stood up and he was pissed, he shouted out.

"You called me a little shit, who the fuck do you think you're talking to."

Everyone in the shop was stunned, the kid had actually dared to talk back, he was in for it for sure.

"What! you shitty brat, you dare talk to me this way, I'm gonna beat your ass you disrespectful little cunt."

The thug was about to swing out with a punch and everyone just looked at the kid with pity, but before he did someone placed a hand on the thug's shoulder.

"Huh, who dares try to stop me?"

The thug turned around and behind him stood ten guys and 1 female. All were warriors of the 2nd and 3rd rank. On the ground lay the thugs friends. The man with his hand on the thugs shoulder spoke up.

"LEAVE!"

Seeing the situation the thug ran out with his tail between his legs and his friends were tossed out as well. Sen looked at the man and the other people as well and immediately recognized them, it was some of the warriors that traveled with him in the convoy. Seeing them, Sen couldn't help but smile.

"Thanks for the help."

"Nah it was nothing Sen, we all know what would have happened to that fellow had we not intervened hehe."

Sen couldn't help but shyly rubbed the back of his head.

"So what are you guys doing here?"

"Well we came for a meal, but it seems you've bought all the food. we'll just find another place, it's good seeing you Sen."

"Hang on, if it's a meal then why not join me, there's no way me and these ladies can finish all this."

"Huh, you sure?"

"Am I sure, of course, pull up a chair all of you have some."

And like that 11 warriors from the convoy sat down, Sen introduced everyone and they all once again pigged out. After a few minutes, Sen got up to excuse himself.

"Where ya off to?"

"Bathroom, back in a minute."

When Sen returned everyone was discussing something with joyous expressions on their faces.

"Hey Sen, we were just talking about ya."

"Hmm about me."

"Yea you know the tournament that's going on right now."

"Yea what about it?"

"Well we were just talking about how you should compete if you were to enter you're guaranteed to win."

"Enter, I thought the tournament ended today, didn't it?"

"No who told you that?"

Sen thought about the old man he got the information from.

"It doesn't matter, you say I can compete then maybe I will."

Sen couldn't help but think of that short man in the yellow cloak who easily defeated that bigger man. He wondered if the yellow fighter would be there.

"Yea and the best part is if you enter ill be sure to make a huge bet that's a guaranteed win."

The other warriors all nodded their heads in agreement.

"Ho, what guarantee is that?"

"Come on, the way you slaughtered that horde of the undead as well as how you lead us, there is no doubt you'll win."

"But what if a 10th rank enters, I can't beat a 10 rank."

The warriors all looked at each other and broke out into a wild laughter.

"What's so damn funny?"

"Hahaha, it's nothing, it's just there's no way an 8th rank would enter let alone a 9th or a 10th. As you know the higher your rank the rarer of an existence you are. I mean they're only about 10 thousand people that are at the 8th rank and that's in the entire world. 9th ranks are even rarer being only about 800 and then the 10th ranks in the world maybe there's 20 if that."

"How can you be so sure about their numbers?"

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"Hehe, its simple, everyone's greedy, everyone wants something, money, power and in order to obtain money or power you can grasp these things really only thru 2 ways. One is to be born a noble the other is to become strong. If you're strong you can go anyplace in the world and receive a title or be hired by some great noble, but for people to know you are what you say you are you have to register yourself at either a mage guild or an adventurer guild. That way people will know exactly who you are and what type of strength you possess. In doing so, it's pretty easy to determine how many people there are between the 6th and 10th rank. You can at leat get a pretty good estimate"

"Hmm, between the 6th and 10th rank, why not lower than that?"

*sigh*

"Well, because below 6th you get pretty standard people. Sure someone at the 5th rank is strong, but someone at the 6th rank can easily kill 100 5th ranks, that's where the power gap truly happens. If your 5th rank and below your consider trash and disposable by any who hold power. If you were a 5th rank and you joined an army you'd be surrounded by thousands who are on or near your lvl. Tell me, how can you stand out when everyone's just like you? When you fight in a war your fighting soldiers that are between the 3rd and 5th lvl. Maybe it becomes a deadlock but then enters someone at the 6th rank who can easily kill a hundred or someone at the 7th lvl who can easily kill a thousand. Like that the gap only increases, that's the world we live in."

Sen now understood a bit more about the world. he looked at Zara and Jana he thought. "The weak get nothing whilst being trampled by those that are strong why is the world made to be this way."

"What's the prize if I win?"

"Should be ten thousand gold, I hear the city's lord is sponsoring it this year."

Zara and Jana gasped in shock, with that much money they would never have to work a day in their life and not just them generations to come after them as well would never have to labor.

"Hmm, tell ya what, ill agree to enter if after I win each of you will give me half your winnings."

Each one of the warriors quickly agreed, to them it was like making guaranteed money.

"OK guess I'll sign up for it first thing in the morning then."

Sen realized today that there were people in this world that would treat you like trash and walk all over you just by the way you looked, if you didn't represent yourself properly. You would give an inch and people would take miles from you.

Sen didn't need money, but if he were to become someone with unquestionable power then he wouldn't only need strength. Sometimes just a bit of money can go a long way. Besides it felt good what he did today for Zara. If he could help a few others along his way then that would make him a bit satisfied as well.

As the celebration was winding down everyone was full of smiles and was cheering with wild laughter when the chef wheeled in something huge. On a cart with a long cloth draped over it, everyone around looked on curiously. Seeing it Sen knew exactly what it was he stood up next to it and it was clearly taller than him everyone looked at him and some of the more curious warriors couldn't help but ask.

"Sen what's on the cart?"

"Yeah what is it?"

"As everyone here knows today is Zara's birthday."

Zara's head perked up hearing Sen say that.

"And from her mother I've been told that she's never had cake before."

"Sen, no way, did you?"

"Well, I think that's messed up so without further adieu I give you."

Sen quickly pulled the cloth off and under it revealed a huge white frosted covered cake with dozens of pink frosting shaped flowers, it was truly a sight to behold.

Jana almost fainted while Zara was left trembling in shock she couldn't utter a single word Sen cut her a big slice inside was chocolate cake on top of Zara's slice he put a single candle and with a small spark of lightning he lit the candle all of the warriors, as well as the customers in the shop, began to sing of course it wasn't for free he bought them all a drink.

As everyone sang to her Sen set the slice directly in front of her and as the singing finished he finally said. "Make a wish."

Zara with her head down, slowly streams of tears began to flow down her cheeks and a few landed on the cake. She quickly blew out the lit candle. Sen didn't know if she was happy or sad until she finally lifted her head and with a fork took a big bite. She smiled at Sen and in a sweet voice she said.

"Its salty hehehe."

Everyone seeing this couldn't help but laugh, meanwhile, Jana walked up to Sen and gave him a big hug while she cried tears of joy. Zara as well continued to cry as she took huge bite after bite until she gobbled the whole slice up. She looked at sen and held her plate out.

"More please."

"Hehe this girl."

Finally, the celebratory dinner was over, all the warriors that had eaten with Sen were stuffed full and went home with extra cake. Sen and the girls had 3 big boxes of leftover cake as well. While Jana and Zara followed behind Sen they were chatting together and laughing wildly with joy. They were having so much fun that they didn't even notice when Sen led them the wrong way. When they finally saw that it was taking longer than usual to get home, they had already come to a stop.

"Sen why are we at an inn?"

"Because I'm renting you two a room here for a while."

"What you are?"

"Yep, any complaints?"

The two shook their heads no, they know knew that Sen liked to do what he wanted and he was doing it all for them, what right did they have to complain. They simply followed Sen in quietly, as they walked in, they noticed that this inn was really nice.

It actually was a bit luxurious, there were a few lights some were candle while others were powered by mana. It was known that mana powered lights cost 10's of silver a year to maintain. Also hanging on the walls were many works of art as well as a few statues placed around in each of the corners of the lobby. The lobby looked as if it were built for a noble.

Sen approached the counter and set his box of cake on top of it. Behind the counter was a man who looked like a butler standing at the ready with a book in his hand and his back as straight as a rod. The man looked at sen and calmly asked.

"Name please."

"Sen."

The butler looking man scanned the pages of the book with his eyes as well as a finger until he finally spotted the name.

"Ah yes, you requested a room for one year's time with laundry, bath and 3 meals a day for two included, all for a full year. That would be a deposit of 8 gold now and then 1 gold a month for every following month for a year. Those are the terms, do you still wish to rent the room."

"Yes."

"Then please sign this."

The butler pushed 2 contracts in front of Sen which simply repeated what the butler said.

"Please write your name ."

Sen quickly wrote his name down on the signature line and the butler wrote his as well and also the day month and year in the top right corner.

"Now the payment young sir."

"About that, can I pay it all now or do I have to wait for each month?"

"Of course you can pay it all upfront if you'd like, that as well would be easier for our establishment."

"Good."

Sen took out 20 gold and handed it to the man he was now down to 4 left. The butler accepted the money and with a glance knew it was real, he then took out a small stamp from behind the counter and stamped it on his contract as well as Sen's. He handed Sen the contract as well as a key Sen put the parchment into his pocket and handed the key to Jana as well as his last 4 pieces of gold.

Jana wanted to say something to thank this boy for all he's done, but he simply said.

"Don't thank me, see ya around Jana and Happy birthday Zara, goodbye."

Sen turned around and left, Jana and Zara simply bowed and Zara shouted out.

"The tournament!! I'll be there to watch you fight."

Sen continued to walk away and without turning around he waved his hand goodbye and like that he was gone. As the two saw him disappear they wondered how they deserved such kindness. They thanked Sen deep in their hearts and they would never forget him for all he's done.

But literally 30 seconds later just as Zara and Jana were about to head to their room, Sen came running back in with an embarrassed look on his face. He smiled at the two and ran up to the counter grabbed his box of cake that he had left behind and once more ran out.

"Hehehe bye."
