Chapter 46: To Defy or Not Defy Her

Chapter 46: To Defy or Not Defy Her

Defying my sister was something i almost never do. Because every time she did not heed her words, something terrible would happen.

Cosmo doesn't eat that meat, Cosmo stops playing in the water or else the water dragon might eat you, Cosmo stops playing with that toy, you might wipe the city off the map by accident.

And on and on and on she went. And, much to my idiocy, which I only realized until now, that it was best that I listen to my sister. She knows best, was what my mother said. Even Father listens to my sister when it comes to dealing with my mothers anger.

And everytime she was right. In my opinion, she was one of the reasons that mother did not divorce father. He can sometimes be socially inept at times.

I learned that it was always best to listen to her advice. I did make that choice in the past, and from that point on the disasters I accrued lessened to a considerable degree. Like i got kidnapped only once or twice a week because of it, instead of the usual almost everyday frequency.

Too bad that she was helpless even when it came to dealing with my schooling situation. Even she never quite figured out why my relationship with academia was like that. I mean, some of the brilliant minds working for our family tried studying my ‘phenomena’.

They never came to a clear conclusion unfortunately.

I'm getting sidetracked again. Okay, I need to focus. Where was I again? Oh right, my sister.

She sent an upward slash, almost sending my blades to the air if I didn't get a good grip on it. In that small lapse of wrong positioning, she took advantage of it and sent a kick in the middle of my stomach.

Which I could not avoid in time, making me lurch forward. I think my breakfast was pulverized because of it. A small groan escaped my mouth, yet I quickly recovered and took a defensive position. She even ignored that small window of opportunity, as she said.

“Little brother… You and I both know the consequences of not listening to me. To your big sister.”

“…Yes. But I'm sorry. I just can't…”

“Cant or wont?”

“Both actually.”

A small smile crept up on the side of my face, the feeling of rebelling against my sister was always a fun afternoon game I played. Too bad it always ended with me losing.

Nevertheless, I have to. I need to. I want to.

“Father and Mother will not be happy.”

“I will apologize to them in due time, but for now. Please my dear sister, just this once, just this once, let me go…”

“You know I can't do that.”

“Cant or wont?

“Both actually.”

She smiled, the bright kind as she slowly approached me. Her aura climbed into egregious levels. I felt the particles of mana in the air shaking, as if something, or someone appeared and made them feel the emotion of fear.

I was both terrified the same as the mana particles, yet also curious. To this day, I have no idea what [Class] my sister is, I only know that I shouldn't be messing with her.

Instinctively I used {Lightning movement} to change position yet the most curious thing happened. And it's that nothing happened…

Pure confusion took over, I tried casting {Lightning Movement} again and again, yet I had no luck.

“Come on, why isnt it working…” I muttered under my breath.

“Are you curious little brother?”

“What do you mean?”

“Curious as to how you can cast your spells?”

“Yeah well of course, it's not working for… some… reason…”

Then it hit me. I gazed at my sisters face, her smile ever so clear and bright as the sunshines day. A foreboding feeling made its way up in the back of my head, a possibility that I didn't even know or expect would happen.

In a defensive stance, that covered all my weak points and any possible surprise attacks. Despite my warning bells ringing like church bells that reverberated across a city, I ignored it and stared at my sister.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

“What did you do?”

“It's nothing, I am simply using my [Class] is all.”

“And what is your [Class] exactly?”

My sister smiled and said.

“[Ruler of Mana].”

That's not a good sign if I can guess. Just having the term ‘Ruler’ in her class was enough to make my skin crawl.

“But do not worry little brother, big sister will play fair and not use mana also.”

“Thanks?”

It was also not a good situation to be in. Simply because that even the guardians of our family was impressed by her swordsmanship. The only person i can think of that can match her, is Amy. And I'm guessing Amy isn't too keen on helping me right now.

Not wanting to lose too fast, I readied myself and darted towards her at full speed. My sister chuckled in response, and waited for me to arrive.

In a few seconds our weapons collided, sparks flying as if it was a fireworks festival at Zorvaile City. I sent various slashes, each one more precise and fast, and yet every single one was blocked.

She didn't even bother dodging, and instead chose to block my attacks. I spun in place, sending a roundhouse kick to her but she defended by using her other arm. I made an impact, and it was the same feeling as if I was kicking a metal door. I slightly winced and backed off, yet it seemed that she did not allow it.

She came up close and personal, and without even giving me time to react, she sent a fist hurling towards my stomach and hitting it squarely at the center of it. I lurched forward as a groan escaped my mouth.

She held my hair and placed it in front of her face, her grip made me feel like she was trying to make me go bald.

“Stop with this ‘rebellion’ Cosmo, and let us go home. It is not amusing anymore.”

“Really? I thought it still was.”

I looked back at my sister and saw that her ever bright smile was gone, only a steel like expression with the coldness to match.

“Enough. Either i bring you back consciously-”

I did not let her finish. With a surprise attack, I kneed her legs, knocking off her balance as she started tumbling to the sides. In that small opening, I widened the distance between us and started running away.

“Cosmo you-”

I didn't listen to her again. I kept running away. I even unsummoned my weapons and ran like the wind. The sound of wind booming was heard at the back, yet I did not look behind and kept running.

A head on confrontation won't work with my sister and would only get me dragged away from here, without the kicking and screaming part, because I know that she will knock me out if push comes to shove. And I will push hard.

I somehow need to shake off the control she has on the surrounding mana. I tried activating {Lightning Movement} again, and with a sudden twist, I felt some electricity running. It was faint, yet that was enough for me to use.

All of a sudden, the lightning vanished. Chills went down my spine. I turned my head sideways and there she was, my sister, with a complete and utter unfeeling expression on her face.

Her mouth moved yet there was no voice to back it up. I don't know how to read lips but from my educated guess, she was saying, ‘You are dead’.

That's nice.

I wearily smiled in response and backed away to the sides. She kept close, following me as she sent a sword slash on my way. In my panic, I summoned my double swords and blocked.

She didn't seem to have minded it. Mana started accumulating around her like a vortex of energy, and with that a pinkish hue wrapped around her body. Especially her sword, symbols started appearing on it. Sigils that were familiar to me.

It was the symbol used to enhance the average weapons in the family, yet this one, I knew , was special. The chief blacksmith of the family forged my sister's sword personally for her 18th Birthday.

My sister was over the moon when she received it. While I am not.

She swung again yet this time it was relatively slow. Slow in a sense that it can be thought of as a practice swing against a practice dummy. And unfortunately, in that situation, I was the dummy.

I crossed my sword and intended to block it as usual, yet the moment we collided, I felt a mountainous pressure that pounded against my whole body. I groaned, feeling the sheer weight behind her swing.

She pulled back her sword, and as I was about to feel relief that it was over. She slashed again, with the same relaxed atmosphere and indifferent gaze.

Planting both of my feet in the ground, I gripped my sword as tight as possible and blocked once more. Contact was made, making me feel its weight again. It was like I was holding up the sky on my shoulders.

She did not stop. She continued swinging with each one becoming heavier and heavier, and I was being pushed back with every block I did. My wrists felt like it was on fire, screaming for me to stop this or else they might actually break.

Of course, running away was an option but I can only run so far. Hiding in the darkness was always the best option for me, since I was pretty good at it. Problem is, I gazed at the surroundings and there was no such place to hide. It was an open field with me and my sister being the only ones here.

Oh and Amy who was watching everything in the distance… Wait what?

Complete shock overcame me as I looked in a certain direction. Only now did I see that Amy was here. She was observing, silently watching everything transpire for some reason.

Forgetting that I was in a fight, I waved my sword in the air and said,

“Amy! Is that you? Amy!”

With a stupid grin on my face, I kept waving in the air and shouting her name. I had the best vision so I saw that indeed, Amy saw me. I saw that she just sighed and started making her way to us.

“Who is that?”

“Oh that's Amy, a friend of mine in my place of work.”

“You work?”

“Yes sister. It's been a long time now.

“Huh i see…”

My sister stopped attacking me, and instead affixed her gaze to Amy who was unhurriedly strolling towards us. Strangely, my sister did the same. She did not even look at me and instead focused her gaze on my sister.

Well it does not matter. She stopped attacking me and Amy was here, so I think the situation would finally calm down. Since as long as Amy supports me and explains the situation, then my sister is bound to leave me alone. I hope so.

Just the simple thought of it was making me giddy.

Soon, Amy arrived. She stood face to face with my sister. Their eyes never leave each other's figure. From my guesses, they started analyzing each other. I didn't notice that Amy already drew her sword and was slowly accumulating mana.

No idea why, the atmosphere tensed. Feeling as if something big was about to erupt but I doubt it.

My sister opened her mouth and said.

“You bitch.”

Wait what?
