I often thought to myself what it would be like when getting into a tussle with the law. Causing trouble for the empire or at least, the city i was in and the later consequences of it.
Based on common sense, when someone does something that is against the law, they are arrested and charged for whatever they did. There was nothing wrong with it if the perpetrator was actually the one who did it.
There is a simple truth in life and it’s that actions have consequences. Anyone with half a brain knows that. But of course, there are those who choose to ignore it and do it anyways. Maybe they are missing half of their brain.
Why they do it is a mystery to me and it depends on the person. What is not a mystery is that everything we do still has consequences. Something my father told me a lot when i was a kid. Often saying things like 'Don't anger your mother Cosmo.'
Whenever he said that it puzzled me. From my point of view, Mother was a kind soul and wouldn't hurt anyone. She helped people whenever she could and always gave me snacks whenever i asked for it.
I don't know how he came to that conclusion. I mean all i remembered when Father did something wrong that Mother didn’t like, was that he would be ignored.
Though at times when i sleep, i often heard screams from somewhere in the house. At first, i thought it was my father’s but the screams were a normal thing around the house as there were often ‘Bad people’ in the dungeon.
So I ignored it and continued sleeping.
Anyway, im getting sidetracked. The point is actions have consequences.
But the thing about my situation is that i dont even know what i did.
“By the order of the [Sancta Inquisitio], you are summoned to his holy palace”
A spell bounded my hands as translucent chains wrapped tightly around my whole body. I struggled out of the restraints yet there was no reaction. Maybe using a spell might work but I only know two…
“What the hell?”
I have no idea how this happened. In one moment I was wiping down the counter, and in the next the man in white towered over me and restrained me.
My slight commotion awoke Mr. Samuel and Mr. Frank from their slumber, and yet the depressing thing was that they looked me over once from their position, and went back to sleep.
Dumbfounded, i was about to scream out my lungs when i realized i was unable to open my mouth. I looked over to the man in white and noticed that he had a finger on his lips. Indicating silence, and silence then came.
I was about to make a run for it when the man in white said.
“He wants to see you.”
Puzzled, i wanted to ask him who that was but I remembered that my mouth was slapped shut. And so with the use of my eyes, i gave a confused gaze into the man in white, yet I was ignored and pulled like a lamb being directed to the slaughterhouse.
Thinking of various solutions, i tried coming up with a way to escape yet all possible roads lead to a dead end. The path in front of me seems blocked by an insurmountable bolder. A bolder that is beyond the current me.
Sigh, why does this keep happening to me?
All of a sudden, the door busted open once more, finally breaking the door off its hinges as it fell over from the front. Slowly revealing the one who was behind it.
I need to get a stronger door after this.
Instead of a Man in white, it was a man in gold clad in armor all over his body. The insignia of the empire, A shield with a mysterious eye engraved on it, as well as a sword behind it was engraved in his shoulder plates.
His short dark hair and emerald green eyes gazed over the entire bar. Before putting all his attention on the man in white. Mr. William had an indifferent façade to all this, yet somehow, I could sense a tint of rage in his eyes.
He sauntered over to us, blocking the path of the man in white as he slightly towered over the man. Yet despite the intense pressure, Mr. William was giving off, The man in white wasn’t fazed by it and held Mr Willaims’ gaze.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Sparks flew as their eyes locked, neither one budging for a while until Mr. William opened his mouth and said.
“Why are you here,” he said in an emotionless voice.
“It is none of your business, Commander William.”
“It is when the business of the church is being conducted in the Empire’s ground.”
Mr. William started to intensify the pressure around him, almost suffocating me in the process if i wasn’t already used to intense pressure. The man in white grinned and fought back with his own aura.
Mr. William had a gold-colored Aura like a sun setting on the horizon. The man in White's Aura was colorless, but even then i felt a significant amount of purity and holiness to it. His pressure awed me, not of him but of something else. Something else that had to do with his aura.
Nevertheless, their Spiritual aura clashed as the chairs and tables of the bar flew to the sides, Mr. Frank was also thrown along with it yet even when he hit the ground, he still didn’t wake up.
Mr. Samuel was no longer in his previous drunk disposition and was having a drink in the corner of the counter. I noticed that the binds holding me were gone and i was about to escape when Mr Samuel beckoned me to give him another beer.
And so I did.
Walking over behind the counter, I ignored the still indifferent man in white and poured a drink for Mr. Samuel. I picked up the previous glass he used and washed it a little, and began wiping it down.
The man in white looked deeply at Mr. William before canceling his pressure and making his way to the counter. Mr. William did the same and followed the man.
A tense atmosphere enveloped the room with the situation not making any sense in my mind. So am I being taken away or not? It was undecided as the man in white sat beside Mr. Samuel and ordered another beer. Frankly, it was useless in my opinion as I can still see his previous glass was still full but I obliged.
Pouring him a glass, I looked into his eyes as I did it, trying to figure out his intentions for being here. Despite his motives being clear as day for all to see, I had a feeling it wasn’t all there is. There was something else… Some other business he wants to discuss, and that gut feeling was telling me that it wasn’t with me.
“Samuel, you know he must go.”
The man in white said in a deep voice. He held the glass in hand and put it at eye level, peering into the beer as if he wanted to know its secrets. Maybe even trying to figure out how it was made. I had no idea. I work here and even i have no idea how it was made.
Nonetheless, after looking at the glass of beer for a few seconds, he drank it until it was half full and set it down on the counter with a loud thump.
“Terrible as always i see.”
“If ya dont like it then fuck off.”
Mr. Frank threatened from the corner. Even though a little dizzy in the head, he was still able to make out words before he began snoring once more. His loud snoring echoed in the room, giving it a little bit of a relaxing atmosphere.
His snores eased the tension in the room even for a little bit, with the two continuing their conversation. I was behind the counter wiping a glass as i watched their conversation. Something is about to happen to me again, of course.
“The kid is mine Morrison, pick another one.”
“You know that is not possible.”
“Then make it possible.”
The somewhat eased tension began to freeze. The two men gazed at each other, sparks flying as far as their eyes can tell. A sliver of killing of intent began leaking out. Bloodlust seeped through their auras, one filled with a feeling of justice, while the other was just pure intense bloodlust made to only kill and kill.
Suspecting that a battle would erupt, i electrified my feet, readying myself to escape if the worst happens. It didn't as all of a sudden the bubbling killing intent simmered down and a sense of serenity entered the room.
I felt my back drenched, as i wiped of beads of sweat accumulating on my forehead. Staring at them both, they started acting like nothing happened. Not even continuing the conversation and drinking in silence.
The situation was becoming strange by the minute. The owner was sleeping in a corner while Amy already left when I was being kidnapped, not even trying to help me. How cold.
“You have 30 days to settle your affairs, and after that, you’re coming with me.”
The man in white, or as I found out, Morrison said as he took his final sips of his drink, before getting up and started walking out the door. Mr. Willaim followed him and also left. Mr. Samuel did nothing throughout all this as he continued drinking his beer, minding his own business, and acting as if he wasn’t just about to slice Morrisons’ throat.
A sense of dread and panic welled over me, yet it was all crushed when i saw Mr Samuels’s eyes. His forest green eyes calmed me down and for some reason, gave me some assurance that I would be fine.
Taking a deep breath, I calmed my nerves and continued doing my job. As the man in white left the bar without a huff, I picked up his glass and washed it. Doing the same with Mr. Samuels as he already left at some point in his stay.
I gave a sigh as I started to clean up after the place. Wiping the counter down, along with placing the chairs in their proper place and picking up a blanket from somewhere, putting it over the still asleep Mr. Frank.
After cleaning everything up, I washed up and made myself a small dinner. Savoring it with every bite as I grounded myself in the situation. Finishing that, I made my way over to my room and crashed down on my bed face first.
I felt the softness of my pillow as well as the clean sheets. I made sure that everything was comfortable to my own advantage, and it seems that it worked as I felt that at any moment now, i would fall asleep.
Yet I refused that oh-so-wonderful slumber and sat up on the bed. Intending to talk with a certain someone.
“Mr. Lucius, are you there?”
“Yes.”
He appeared in front of me in his pajamas, with a small little hat and a little bed to match. I could see that he was also about to fall asleep yet also stopped at the last second.
I knew it was rude to interrupt someone when they were sleeping and yet I had to ask this question for my sake. I can be a little selfish at times, right?
“Um so, Mr. Lucius, can I ask who was that earlier.”
“Oh no big deal little one, it was just the Inquisition.”
