What ended the Great Depression? Despite FDR’s greatest effort, joining the Second Great War ended the Great Depression. That is right, THERE IS ANOTHER WAR! The First Great War is really just World War One. We are in World War two, and preparing to kill people lifted the economy out of the Great Depression. Why is it that when we try to create weapons of destruction, we finally get to survive? Is the only purpose of mankind to slaughter each other? Is this the reason why so much propaganda posted in World War One encouraged people to send themselves into hell?
I see another generation of young men, devoting themselves to senseless killing. At least, their target this time is the abominable Hitler, and Japan was consumed by its imperial ambitions. The Great War was also called the War to End All Wars, yet the United States did not join the League of Nations, and now we are in a second war. Airplanes, so numerous that they block every inch of sunlight, fly overhead with ground-shaking engines roaring as they relentlessly pursue the death of all their enemies and false glory. The gates of hell are pulled open again, in the Pacific, in the Atlantic, and in Europe all over again. A world at war — mankind may very well meet its end here. It seems like everyone around me is trying to advocate for this damn war.
Because of that fever, I quit my job at Mesa Verde and rushed back to New York only to see the street full of noise and activities - contrasting against the silent and desperate image of the Depression - all because of that war. Even Nick is caught up by the devil’s bell, enticing them to the killing. Nick looked like age was chasing up to him while he questioned how I looked like I barely aged. It is not surprising considering that he is not properly taking care of himself, and he blew me off when I repeated to him health advice that he, shown by his facade, clearly forgot as he focused only on my agerasia.

I have seen enough senseless killing. Is New York being invaded? Is the Mainland United States being invaded? The only place that is invaded is Pearl Harbor, a place in Hawaii the United States annexed mauger the protests of the Hawaiian Queen. If we do not go kill the young men of the opposing faction, will we be met with doom? Is it necessary to wage war? I am going to preach for peace to the bitter end, even if it sends me to jail - even if it sends me into the grave. We are a nation of freedom, not a nation oppressing other nations, yet the latter seemed to be more of the case day by day as the United States became an international "police", performed "dollar diplomacy", and gave “freedom and civilization” to the smaller nations around the world. This will be the last thing I do. Nick, if you are reading this, I hope you understand. By the time you find this book inside your bed and read this, I may already be dead, and my room - possibly ravaged by those federal investigations, fade into the same colorful lifelessness. My green light is a state ruled by nature and God, full of prosperity and peace, which will not get entangled in international warfare and extensive international affairs other than trade. I will fight for that Green light to the bitter end.
