Entry 38 (November 1, 1936)

Apparently, my management skills and “valor in the Great War” is recognized by the US government – recognized so well that they pulled me out to Mesa Verde, where I have “nowhere to escape” to the investigation about whether I am really as old as I am on the paperwork and whether if I am really who I said I am. The investigation ended last week when I proved that all the paperwork matched and I indeed am who I said I am, and they wrongly drafted me (as I was out of the age gap). Those government agents also kicked me out of their office when my reply to their question about my age was health tips and advice on how to maintain their health.

They also investigated me for any “radical thoughts,” because on the other side of the globe (is the world flat or round?), Nazis in Germany took control and made Germany an authoritarian government. In Spain, fascism took hold as their government became totalitarian. Japan, the main Asian trade partner of the United States, invaded Manchuria. With what is going on in the world, it is no wonder that the government is investigating radicalism.

Over the last two years, I, and my construction team, made miles of roads, and we are moving on to the construction of some museums and park buildings in the next few years. Here in Mesa Verde national park, I encountered nostalgia from when I first visited it. I refilled that one-dollar pen with ink, and its quality is slowly degrading over the years. The pay of the work is decent, and I’ve saved up some to send to Dave. I hope he is doing well. It seems like this is what I will be doing for the following years.
