Chapter 20 Entrance Exam

Chapter 20 Entrance Exam

Currently in the center of the main content a huge gathering was taking place, it was none other than the ceremony to kickstart the exam.

Currently thousands upon thousands of youths from ages 16 to 19 were patiently waiting after they signed up for the ceremony to start. These teens consisted of many different types of Beast kin like fox kin and people who resembled primates, to even bunny girls. Then the more prominent races like humans, elves, dwarves, vampires, werewolves and even orcs here and there. No dragons were attending since they believed to be above it all and personally trained what few youths that ever popped up. Finally, after most people had gathered, multiple kings and queens of nations began to appear on the stage and proceeded to take their corresponding seats to await the headmaster to show up.

“She’s going to be late, isn’t she?” Whispered Ryota to Tyrion, the two had met on battlefields early in their lives but with peace currently being worldwide, the two had settled differences and were somewhat of battle brothers.

“I haven’t heard from her in years, there’s no telling what crazy kind of experiment she’s doing. She has the worst sense of time and urgency I’ve ever seen.” Tyrion had known the headmaster for many years and one thing about her always prevailed over everything else. She was by far the more eccentric and driven woman he’d ever known; she was a lot like Victor but in the way that she was lazy when it involved things, she didn’t find interesting.

“She’s coming, be quiet.” Whispered the Vampire King who was seated next to Ryota and the werewolf king.

“Still trying to seem majestic and noble are we Siphon.” Ryota jested at the vampire king, he had fought this man many times too and he always stayed behind a facade of majesty and nobility, only his family knew what the man was really like.

Suddenly something shot through the clouds like a blur, at a closer glance everyone realized it was an azure snakelike dragon with a woman in a kimono on top of it. Before the dragon made impact with the ground it faded away into a dark mist and all that landed was a young lady with long black hair displaying oriental features. She started to brush off her kimono and immediately jumped into her speech.

“Man, you all got here early, anyways. Welcome to the entrance exam! Let’s get ready to fight!” With that she tried to walk off the stage but was met with a look of displeasure from practically every person attending.

“Ugh okay, a quick rundown for today is in order, I guess. The exam is going to be tournament style, since we have around twenty-five thousand or so of you all, we need to trim it down to maybe around three thousand. I’m too lazy to do the math on that so just survive like three rounds and you’re in the school, if you don’t then clearly you weren’t cut out for it. The matches are completely random and have already been set up, when you hear your name called, proceed to your designated arena and get ready to fight, this tournament will take place over three days so get ready for a long haul.” With that the lady started to step off the podium before back tracking.

“Oh also, my names Hinata and I’m the headmaster.” She gave a cute smile before stepping off the stage and immediately disappearing to let the kings and queens run the rest of the event.

“Typical.” Said Tyrion before standing up and taking over the podium.

“With that let us begi- “before Tyrion could finish his sentence a black comet shot through the clouds and landed in the middle of the crowd. The sheer force of the landing blew back a lot of people who were standing near and caused guards and the leaders to tense up.

“Did they already decide to start?” Multiple kings were thinking this only to see the smoke clear and see one person with salt and pepper hair down to his waist with giant black wings behind him starting to fold back.

One guard got too excited and attempted to apprehend him only to be met with a sudden downshift in gravity resulting in his face being buried into the dirt.

Tyrion saw this and instantly remembered the kid from a few years ago with similar powers.

“Solstice, it’s nice of you to finally join us.” Tyrion forced a smile on his face saying this. Most leaders present knew every specific plan for this tournament and it hurt some of them to their core.

All Solstice did was nod and walked forward to the guard who ate dirt, and similar to what Leo did to Solstice, he raised him out of the ground by his foot and set him down gently before walking to the back of the crowd to await the start.

“As I was saying, let’s begin!” Immediately after Tyrion said this, names were called from the arena area behind the podium.

All that was said were numbers each person was assigned by simply entering the premises, like that the first day was kickstarted and nothing bad happened.

Ivis was one of the first people to go and a lot had changed about the heir, his body and aura had upgraded a great amount to where many people would confuse him with a veteran B ranker. His first fight ended with him simply using his speed with lightning and instantly chopping his opponent's neck, knocking them out instantly.

The next was Luna who also changed a great deal, externally at least. She had grown a few inches taller; her face had only grown more exquisite, and she radiated an aura of majesty that was only right for someone of her status.

“I hope he’s watching me!” Over the last three years she had trained diligently with her father in order to let her participate today and only by reaching B-Rank did he allow her to actually come to this, but not without many shadows who stayed with her at all times. As she entered her arena she paid no attention to her opponent, she was busy coming up with some way to have a cliche reunion with her obssesio- I mean love. The opponent was a man with an incredibly stout body and was one of the people who should’ve been a shoe in to get into the academy, if only he didn’t get matched with Luna, within 10 seconds of the match starting, he was instantly entangled by vines and forced to give up before he was knocked out by being choked.

Contrary to anything, Solstice was busy talking to Victor about how he should plan for all of this.

“I see you still don’t believe me, maybe after today you’ll understand that people like me and you are just tools.” Victor had been attempting to get Solstice to mentally accept that if he stayed in the same mindset, he would suffer a fate just like him.

“I’ll believe it when I see it Victor, until then just be my eyes and let know when I need to act.” Solstice was trying to hold on for hope, but hope can only last so long when he’s constantly reminded of how his teacher died.

The next person to go up was Lily and she had changed the most by far, her body had developed to an incredible degree and many men over the last three years had attempted to get in her good graces but were met with ice cold looks that seemed to run in her family. As soon as her match started, she simply raised her hand and a giant ice pillar formed incredibly fast and launched her opponent into a wall out of the arena. With that she walked off the floor and looked in Solstice’s direction for a brief moment before smiling and walking off. A few guys saw this and felt their hearts flutter since nobody had ever seen her smile.

Finally, to wrap up the day, Solstice was the final match, and he was up against an incredibly large orc, throughout the day many favorites were taken out by orcs, they had incredibly large bodies coupled with unrivaled strength and durability, against humans.

This orc had been through his fair share of trials in his clan and something about this tiny elf bothered him.

“You, what the hell is wrong with you?” The orc pointed at Solstice, this kind of feeling he got was similar to what the top rankers in his clan made him feel, if the orcs specialized in anything it would be their instinct, and currently his instinct was yelling at him right now.

Solstice smiled at how blunt this teen orc was and couldn’t help but feel bad.

“Just forfeit, I haven’t fought someone my age in many years so I don't know if I can hold back enough.” He had grown used to fighting with his life on the line against Leviathan and had no idea what his current strength would do to people his age.

The orc heard this and instead of being outraged he simply grunted before replying.

“I see only the truth in your words, can we at least exchange one blow? In my clan nobody has ever challenged me, I wish to taste defeat.” This orcs name was Ogron, and he was the chieftain's son, he had always been the best in his generation, but this led him to having a slightly inflated ego, but he never let it affect his mindset, he only wished to find someone to show him how far he still needed to go or could go.

Solstice only nodded at this while trying to hold back his power, he refused to use any of his weapons before the attack in order to save his trump card.

Ogron charged at Solstice with his two-handed battle axe and cleaved down as hard as he could but what he saw next made him go pale. All the momentum he built up was stopped by two fingers holding the end of his axe, and with a simple squeeze his axe shattered.

“Thank you for sparing my life, if you ever visit my lands, I’ll welcome you with open arms.” With that Ogron had seen the apex of his generation and could only hope he would reach that within a few years.

——a few miles away from the tournament site

“Is this the kid you wish to take care of?” Said the Death Sovereign who was looking through an eagle's eye watching the tournament.

“Yes, he’s the son of that accursed dragon and elf.” Alpha 2 could count on one hand how many times his plans failed and because of this one family, that number had increased by two.

“Oh, so he’s the grandson of the guardian? It’d be my pleasure to rip his spine out,” Clearly the Death Sovereign had bad blood with Leviathan and was more than happy to try something that would hurt the old dragon.

“You can assist, but I have another person who is going to take care of him, just focus on causing havoc and doing your job. I don’t want another one of my plans to fall through.” Alpha 2 had gone the extra mile for this occasion, fueled only by his anger. He went as far as to offer another Sovereign a great reward for merely showing up to kill this one kid.

When they both looked back at the orb showing the eagle's view, they saw a talisman fly by and decapitate the eagle followed by a feminine voice.

“Come on you bums, we both got plans so let’s get the show on the road.” Hinata kept talismans flying around the premises in order to keep track of when the attack would start and noticed a lone eagle surveying the site. Clearly it was a spy and she hoped by antagonizing the watchers that the attack would happen faster.

Both men laughed before walking off to finish of their preparations for the coming day.
