I walked out of the black tunnel towards the real world. Once I crossed over the threshold the pieces started sliding back into place forming the door once more. The key shot from the keyhole into my hand. The door then faded away as if made of nothing but smoke.

I looked around to see if anything has changed. There near one of the sides of the of the cave was my nurse sitting in a chair with a mirror in her lap. I was about to ask what she had to tell me both of their clothing started to become transparent. Once I was aware that there was another person hiding within the cavern I used vampiric run to move myself out of the range of the sword resting in its sheath. I then started to prepare to defend myself from the person with the sword.

-2000 mana

I forced my mana into as small a ball as possible then growled “Get your hand away from your sword or prepare to die.”

The girl stood shocked and started backing away from me into a corner. My nurse laughed then said “Thats a little overdramatic of you. You might traumatize the girl. Before I start introductions put that ball away. If that hits anything you might collapse the cave.” I started to absorb the mana back into me.

+1950 mana

She then continued “This girl is not your enemy. She is actually one of your last remaining servants. She is part of the shadow clan that has served your family since your grandfather was in charge.She has been following you since you were both about five as part of her training. She is your personal shadow.”

After my nurse finished I looked at myself in one of the many pools of water on the floor.I had Blood smeared across my face and my hair back to a chaotic mess. I grabbed some water and rinsed the dried blood off of my face. Then attempted to fix my hair using blood. As I ran the blood through my hair it straightened out. As soon as I was presentable I said “Sorry for the rude greeting my name is Rex Draconis. I have not heard your name yet. It would be awkward just to refer to you as her or the girl following me.” When I said this I walked over and offered my hand to help her up.

After she grabbed my hand to help herself up she said “My name is Alyona Shadow. As Helen has said I am your personal shadow. As such I am the current head of my house. My father is currently taking care of the house in my absence because of the dire situation.”

After she finished talking my nurse said “Normally now would be the time that you turn Alyona into one of your kind and bestow the shadow clan pendent upon her but because of the situation that has already happened. You may also want to keep your anger in check. Since you have the ability to commune with animals sometimes when you are angry your words will come out as a growl or roar. Ayola needs to go into your ancestral knowledge room. Could you please open the way.”

I looked at the key and said “Door open.”. After I said so the key shook a puff of smoke spewed out and nothing happened. I then said “The door will not appear.”

“Well I am not surprised that the door can not open. For the door to be open everyone that is nearby has to be trusted by the owner. Guess Alyona learning the more difficult techniques of vampires will have to wait. There is someone here who wants your help currently.” she then pulled out a two meter long snake.

“Hi I am the son of the basilisk who carried you to safety from the moat. What I want is revenge on the man who killed my mother. My mother was sleeping when the man ordered his people to kill my mother. She had done nothing to them. She just slept when they took over the castle. She said she did not need to get involved because no one asked her to. Make him suffer please.” after the snake finished speaking he curled up in the lap of my nurse.

My nurse then said “As you can see this child is very angry. He even was angry enough to give me the ingredients for this poison named Basilisk’s Curse. To fulfill his revenge you must sneak into the castle and have the target of the poison drink the poison. The poison will work only on the person who the basilisk hates. The person who uses this poison to exact revenge for the basilisk is from then on seen by all snakes as a basilisk. Those seen as basilisk are not attacked by any snakes and in some cases the snakes will help you. To start the contract you must drink the poison it will show you who your target is when you see him.”

I stared at the bottle a bit before taking it from her and putting a drop of it in my mouth. Suddenly I felt something I have not felt since I watched my parents die. An unbridled rage.

Blood rage active: Currently increasing echolocation

As the message appeared I felt my sight increase until a human shape was within my normal vision. The man was the only red thing within my echolocation sight. As usual everything else was colorless in my echolocation sight. As I stood there I felt my body attempting to find the fastest path to the man. Suddenly my body started moving towards the cave exit suddenly breaking into a vampiric run unlike any run I had ever performed. I did not stop to make turns. I did not even slow down to make turns I just flew through the complicated tunnels as if I was being pulled along a string. I had only one thought on my mind. Make him suffer. I reached the cave exit in mere seconds. I attempted to get an idea of where I was at. As soon as I saw the wall of the castle in my vision I darted off towards it in a single run I made it to the wall top in one vampiric leap. I stared at where the man is eating dinner by candle light. I lined myself up with the window that he was facing. Not caring about the shocked men who were pointing their swords at me. Once I was lined up I launched myself with vampiric run towards the man. When I appeared he opened his mouth to yell for help. I slammed the glass bottle filled with poison into his mouth. From then on the only thing coming from his mouth was screams of pain. As the doors burst open I disappeared in a flash of dark lightning. I sat on the alarm bell a small distance to the left of the window. Listening joyfully to his screams of pain

Blood rage deactivated

As the message popped up the world I could see with my vision dramatically shrank. I stared at the moon directly across from me slowly sinking behind the trees. Something about the moon setting seemed important. Oh when the moon sets the sun rises. I am not immune to sunlight anymore. I then started my dash towards the wall with my vision weakened from the lack of blood rage I could no longer make the run from here to the castle wall instead I used vampiric run to leap from roof to roof. Finally reaching close enough to the wall to see the top of it I leapt for the wall top. From there I dashed towards the surrounding forest. I started focusing my vision downwards to look for the cave from which I emerged. As I was focusing on the ground a wolf walked into my vision.

The grey wolf then said “Follow me I have been sent by Helen to track you down and guide you back to her.”

I followed the wolf who then started to run off through the forest. I started running to keep up with him. He was still getting further away. I started to use vampiric run in short bursts to catch up. When we finally got to the cave. He sat down and stared into the cave.

As I stood there behind him he said “This is as far as I can go. I am not able to enter without permission.”

I then started walking through the cave surprisingly there was no actual forks in the cave. It was just long and twisty. As I was walking I noticed a large underground lake that seemed to not have a bottom. I then continued around the lake and on through the long seemingly endless cave. After about an hour of walking I reached my nurse and Alyona. As I walked past the bend in the cave to where they are the snake lept from my nurses lap and wrapped around my arm and went to sleep.

I asked my nurse “Why is he wrapped around my arm?”

“Oh yes I forgot to tell you. When you complete a revenge quest for a basilisk it becomes your ally and will fight beside you. You are now soulbound and any magic you perform can not hurt him and any poison he makes can not hurt you. Your senses are also mixed you get his sense of smell and he gets your echolocation.” She explained. She then continued “It is about time for you to leave Draconia. You will need to strengthen yourself in the outside world. Since your coronation as king was cut short you will have to usurp the throne. This requires tons of power enough to subdue the spirits of the land and make them obey you. Before you leave I have two things to give you this ring which will stop you from burning in the sunlight and this bag. The bag will allow you to store any item in your body reducing its weight by half. Normally you would learn to make this bag yourself but seeing as you are short on time your training was cut short. The time limit to reclaim your throne is two years. If its not yours by then your grandfather will wake up and the world will be plunged into a war unlike anyone remembers.”

I stood there contemplating not taking my throne back and just watching the sparks fly.

I took the bag and my weight suddenly increased. The bag suddenly vanished leaving only a circle of darkness floating in the air. I looked into the circle and could see items swirling around in the darkness. A couple head sized rocks were in there as well as a furnace and a shiny stone.

“The rocks are ore for making yourself a weapon you can power the furnace by feeding it mana and the shiny stone will take you to a place where you will be able to find an ally. You will have to give this ally a push to become a monster. He is not quite ready to take the last step to being a monster. He is currently using the forest I am sending you to as a hunting ground where he experiments with his magic on his fellow humans. When you get there send out your dark energy and make yourself known. You can do so by gathering your mana in your hand and crushing it. The mana you use doing this will return to you so you might as well make your signal big.” My nurse said. She then continued “When you actually trust Alyona let her use your ancestral knowledge to get the knowledge she needs. When you remake your clothes to a more presentable manner you can crush the stone and you will both appear in the forest.”

I started to release blood to scan my clothes. Slowly I started to break and replace the clothes with a copy of it in blood. It looked exactly like it used to except it was now only different shades of red from crimson to black. I opened up the bag again and took out the shiny blue stone. I crushed it in my hands. A blue pulse shot from the stone dust.

I appeared in a grove among trees. It was morning and the sun was rising.

The sun is shining upon you

Everything went dark. As I began focusing I could see using my echolocation. I could feel ten heartbeats some distance away from me. One of the people with a heartbeat was circling the other eight. Much like how a predator circles his prey before he strikes. As I watched this interesting scene. I started to prepare to send the signal.

-2500 mana

As I watched the figure dashed in with a move much like my vampiric run. His hand slammed into the center ones face and its head disappeared. Its heart stopped then it vanished. By the time the center one had died the man had already retreated back into the forest. He started circling them as they huddled up for defense raising their shield and crouching low. He stopped and started preparing something dark. I could feel the energy in the air. As he dashed in he almost ran straight into one of the other humans shields. He then disappeared and popped up inside the circle of eight people. Before they could turn around he brought his hands together and they all flew away from him. As they were in the air he dashed to one of them grabbed him by the legs and ground his head through the dirt. The man who was being ground through the dirt suddenly vanished. While this happened the others started exuding a horrible feeling energy.

The man suddenly started dashing towards me. When he saw me he pulled out a sword to cut me down as fast as possible to make his escape. I panicked and hit him with the dark orb I was holding. He now had a gaping hole in his stomach and the other humans were erased by the cone of dark energy that exploded from inside the man.
