Chapter 7 : Emotional Distress

Chapter 7 : Emotional Distress

Lillia was trying her best against the mage but it wasn’t enough, the mage would teleport at the last moment and land an attack of her own. The attacks had little effect on Lillia but was quickly becoming a nuisance. Alastor on the other hand was having an easier time with Magnus by having the upper hand on speed and strength, however Magnus was too durable for a fast knockout.

Lillia’s emotions were starting to get the best of her, she tried to remain calm and focused but her anger and annoyance were quickly taking over. As the mage kept dodging and attacking Lillia’s anger kept growing and growing. Lillia’s moves started becoming erratic and desperate. Everyone noticed the change of Lillia’s emotional state. “Lillia, calm down! Don’t let it take over!” Alastor shouted.

Lillia fell onto her knees, the mages attack’s were finally catching up to her. Although the mage was more of a magical fighter she also knew physical combat. The mage tried to land a punch infused with magic to end the fight with Lillia, but this was her downfall. Lillia caught the punch and with a quick snap she broke the mages neck. Everyone was in shock of the horrific sight even though Lillia killed the guards this display was seen as unnecessary. Lillia let out a horrifying laugh.

Alastor could sense Lillia’s rapidly deteriorating mental state but he had to deal with Magnus first in order to safely help her. Magnus was still far from getting defeated but Alastor tried even harder so he could end the fight quickly. The swords of both fighters crashed together causing the ground underneath them to crack. Alastor tried to land a strike onto Magnus but retreated instead. This maneuver stumped Magnus but not for long as Lillia landed her knee onto Magnus’s nose.

Magnus tried to back up but Lillia was onto him like a feral animal, constantly attacking and barley letting him catch his breath. Alastor backed up to where the other’s are. “Alastor what’s wrong with Lillia. She seems off.”

“It’s the ring. Its making her emotional state unstable while also trying to take over her body.”

“Can’t you just take it off?” asked Lilith

“No. Its permanently bonded to her.” Replied Alastor.

Although Lillia’s attacks were sporadic they were doing real damage. “Was Lillia always this strong?” Asked Benjamin

“She has become stronger yes, but the ring is amplifying that new strength and she is having a hard time controlling it which is affecting her mental state.”

“Is there anything we can do?” Asked Lillia

“The problem is her anger is growing rapidly but so is her strength. None of you guys are able to handle her the way you are now. Luckily I can.”

“How? She is beating someone who was taking all of your hits.” asked Leon

Alastor’s eyes changed once more to his dragon eyes, his nails and teeth sharpened themselves, and parts skin started cracking showing crimson red. “By being stronger.”

In one swift move Alastor appeared in front of Lillia, redirected her attack, and casually severed Magnus’s head from his body with his bare hands.

Lillia was angered at Alastor for taking her kill. Alastor’s intention could be felt by Lillia which caused her to go on a rampage. Alastor easily dodged all the hits and landed one of his own causing Lillia to cough up blood. “Lillia” Alastor said “I know Abel trained you to control the power of the ring. Fight against it’s urges, and learn to control the power.”

Alastor’s words had no effect on Lillia. She kept up her assault, trying to hit Alastor but failing every time. “Fine.” Alastor landed an uppercut sending Lillia flying into the broken marble wall. Lillia quickly landed on her feet, however Alastor was already behind her and with a quick hit to Lillia’s pressure point Alastor won the fight.

The sound of running and yelling suddenly became audible. Not long after the entire building was surrounded by hundreds of soldiers. “Drop your weapons and put your hands up.” One of the men yelled.

Alastor unfurled his wings and rose into the air. The soldiers were about to start their barrages of attacks when Alastor clutched his fist, chains made of fire suddenly wrapped themselves around all the soldiers subduing them all in one go.

“People of Sol.” Lilith ran up to the group of soldiers, “The reign of tyranny from your corrupt council is over. You no longer have to fight for a lost cause. We want peace; No harm shall befall any of the civilians or troops if you stand down.”

Alastor descended and freed the soldiers. With a clear and loud voice Alastor said “Do what you want with your country. Just know if you plan on attacking Angel’s Province I won’t hesitate to come back.” The soldiers quickly dispersed and in a matter of moments the building was surrounded no longer.

Lilith ran over to Lillia trying to make sure she’s okay. She was still unconscious but luckily she was still breathing. “Will she be okay?” Asked Lilith

“We have to take her back to the Academy nurse.” said Alastor

“How even if we’re flying that’s still two days away?” asked Benjamin

“Don’t worry we’ll make it.”

“What about the Council members?” asked Lilith

“Let the locals decide.”

Everyone agreed Lillia’s safety was more important. Alastor enveloped the group in the same bubble they arrived in, only difference this time around is he was outside. With his dragon wings out Alastor lifted the group into the air and flew in the direction of Angel’s province.

Within minutes the group was back at Greenville Academy, while Lilith and the others rushed Lillia to the nurse Alastor made his way back underneath the tree. Under the tree was always peaceful for Alastor, until Abel ruined it.

“Why did you use that much force? You would have beaten that knight and stopped Lilith from rampaging easily if you had stopped holding back.”

“I just sat down. You’re impatient. Regardless I wanted to see how far Lillia was in her training. I clearly miscalculated, my apologies.”

Abel let out a sigh. He knew there was no point in trying to talk to Alastor about Lillia. Abel turned to leave but before he did he gave Alastor a warning, “Laura contacted me during the coup, apparently someone is messing with the gates of Hell. Luckily the demon realm is strong enough to handle themselves but some of Hell's inhabitants escaped and made their way into your world.”

Alastor let out a smile, “Someone is strong enough to mess with the gates of Hell huh? This should be interesting.”

Abel kept walking while the world returned to normal and Alastor lay under the tree prepared to sleep
