Character Art - Sky the Kobold

Well, as promised, here is a sketch that I made of Sky.

She stands at a whopping 3 feet tall, the average for her people, and is various shades of blue; primarily sky blue.

Her real name is 'She who Dance with the Sky,' the name that was given to her upon reaching adulthood by the village chief. Due to high mortality rates, Kobolds don't get names until they are fully grown. Their names are usually pretty simple: typically, being something, they like to do, related to an achievement or just the color of their fur if it is pretty.

Appearance wise, Kobolds basically all look the same physically. Where they differ is in fur color and patterns. Green, blue, pink and red, etcetera. If there is a color, there is probable a Kobold of that color. They can also have spots, stripes, splotches, camo, racing stripes, be two different colors or even three. It doesn't matter, they come in lots of different patterns and have a high genetic diversity, so it can be rather common for a pup to look nothing like its parents; sometime even being of completely different colors. Kobolds don't care.

In story, it is tough for people to tell if a particular Kobold is male or female, mostly just going off of the feeling they get from looking at them. Most people just don't care. They are only interested in trading with them or scaring them off, so they don't get their shit stolen. Most people don't even bother attacking them, it's not worth it most of the time, especially since most people don't like getting stabbed by little spears covered in rust.

Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.

They can typically be found out scavenging or traveling along Earth's old roads, never going to far from their village and always in troops numbering anywhere from six to a dozen or so. They hold human crafted tools and weapons to be of the highest standard and value them immensely, meat is a delicacy to them, they love to collect shiny baubles and trinkets as decorations, and absolutely will steal your stuff if given half a chance. Besides that, they highly honor the rules and traditions of their people and most importantly, Trading.

On rare occasions, Kobolds might go to war. While this can sometimes be a war between two villages, it is typically against Goblins. They absolutely hate them, and if a Goblin nest pops up near a Kobold village, they will be quick to move and eliminate the Goblins before they have a chance to grow their numbers and spread further. Unfortunately, Goblins don't make for good food. Eating one is a quick way to end up with food poisoning, although they do make for good fertilizer.

Feel free to skip the following, I have to have around 500 characters to be able to post.

I've mentioned this before, but I am not the best at art. While I can certainly draw a character, it takes me forever to get it down to the level that I am happy with. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I will spend days working on a single sketch until I am happy with it, staying awake well into the night. Drawing and erasing lines over and over again in my notebook until I am satisfied enough to move on to the next part. As a result, it takes me much longer to work on art, than it does for me to write.

As of right now, any future character art will most likely be made by me. But I am considering hiring an artist for some high-quality stuff later on down the line. Especially for cover art for when I eventually put my books up for sale on Kindle. Right now, I am using AI generated stuff for my Cover Art, so I would like to be able to replace them with something nice. Book 2's Cover Art in particular could use some love. From a distance, it looks fine, but observe it closely and it is just a mess. There is only so much of it that I can fix with my meager skills.
