B3. Chapter 2.5- Even Demons Need Love

Lain

And… she is asleep. Just like last time…

I thought that she had sworn off alcohol after her last birthday… At least she didn’t throw up this time... “Haaa, she’s definitely going to be waking up with a hangover again. You really can’t handle your alcohol, can you?” I say to her.

My sister just happily mumbles something to herself in her sleeping drunken state. Shaking my head, I pick her up in a princess carry and bring her over to mom and dad where they are chatting with some people in uniform that I don’t recognize. At some point, my birthday party had turned from just a small thing with family and friends into a full-on party, with people bringing in more and more booze and the grills in the kitchen getting set up with all sorts of food. After a while, it became just everyone and anyone getting drawn in from nearby by the smell of good food and the promise of copious amounts of free alcohol.

Someone even went and setup a makeshift DJ booth and has started playing some loud music and shining lights everywhere…

I look at the ever-growing party and shrug. It’s just nice seeing so many people having fun on my big day. Even if half of them are drunk off their asses already and don’t even know who the party is for… I just hope that they don’t cause too much trouble for the MP’s tonight. Although, I imagine that tomorrow morning there is going to be a copious number of soldiers doing laps in the cold with brain splitting hangovers.

Making my way through the crowd, I get mom and dad’s attention and deposit my sleeping sister with them at their table. They just smile and shake their heads at the sight of her. Dad says, “Don’t worry, we’ll take her home and tuck her into bed. You would think that she would have learned after drinking that whole bottle of vodka on her twenty-first… Oh well.” He just laughs and mom pets Anna’s head as she sleeps on the table.

Giving them both a hug, I thank them for today and then they excuse themselves, the both of them carrying Anna out of the building.

From the side, Sky comes over and latches onto my arm, giving me a big happy smile and drinking from a pint of beer that she is carrying around. “Humans make such wonderful drinks! It’s delicious!”

She raises her pint and cheers, “Whoooo!” and everyone around us raises their drinks and cheers as well.

Oh, drunk girlfriend. Well, this is certainly a first-time experience for me…

I took my eye off of her for just a little bit and she wandered off and got drunk. Luckily, she came back, and I didn’t have to worry about her, trying to find her in this sea of people. I quickly decide to keep an arm wrapped around her at all times to help keep her from wandering off and getting into trouble or having some drunk guys try to touch her. If that happened, I would probably end up murdering someone considering how unstable I am currently. After all, Sky is mine.

For a long while, I simply let her drag me around as she goes introducing herself to different people and sampling different kinds of drinks and snacks. Long gone is her normal shyness that she shows around strangers, although she still does put on a bit of her noble woman’s performance. Though it does end up coming through a bit muddled and funny through the haze of alcohol’s influence.

About an hour in to letting her pull me around, I look through the crowd and spot a table that has three familiar faces sitting and chatting. Rookie, Sandy and Sanders. Deciding to join them, I pull Sky with me away from the drinks table and towards them. She protests a bit and reaches out, snatching up a bottle of cherry vodka. She cheers and gives me a hug like she had just successfully stolen some treasure off a rich target. The thieving little Kobold.

At the table, I help Sky sit down as she cradles her pilfered goods and then join her. “Hey guys. Having fun?”

They all smile and nod. Sanders says, “This is one hell of a sweet twenty-one. I figured that it would just be some little thing with cake and ice cream or something, hahaha!”

“Well, there was a cake. I think the crowd already destroyed it though. I didn’t even get a piece…”

They just start laughing and Sandy clinks her drink with Sky for the third time in a row. A custom that Sky just learned and is now happily using. Leaning into a hug with me, Sky says, “Don’t wor~ry… I can ma, make you another cake, and… and you can eat that one off my breasts again!” She giggles and gives me a big drunk kiss on my cheek and wraps herself around me.

I can feel as my face lights up in a blush. Sandy and Sanders just start howling with laughter as they hold each other. Pointing at me, Sandy laughs and says, “I knew you were a bit of a perv, but I didn’t know that you were into doing some kinky shit. What else do you guys do?”

I have to quickly cover Sky’s mouth as she goes to answer her truthfully.

Not actually drunk myself, but feeling a bit fueled by the atmosphere, I counter back. “Oh, and like you two are only doing missionary and humping through a hole in the sheet like good little Christians. I’m sure you guys are doing your own pervy shit! Don’t judge.”

“Hahaha, not judging, not at all. Heck the other day we tried this thing where…” She tries to say, but Sanders is quick to stop her, trying to cover her mouth with a huge blush on his face. She just pushes back against him and laughs. Wrapping an arm around him, she gives him a kiss and says, “Oh, no need to be so embarrassed. I know you enjoyed it. I definitely left satisfied.” By the end she has a predatory smile on her face as she looks at him. He just looks like a scared little mouse that is about to get eaten by a snake and will probably be enjoying it despite fearing for its life…

They’re definitely doing it when they get home…

Speaking of little mice, I look to the girl sitting next to Sky that seems to be trying to find a way to drown herself inside of her cup so she can escape from this conversation.

Rookie is looking very flustered and is probably just one convenient excuse away from running away from this party. I reach over Sky -who is currently busy making sweet love to her pilfered bottle of cherry vodka- and pat her on the shoulder to get her attention. Rookie looks up and I give her a smile. “Not the kind of party that you were expecting, huh?”

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

She shakes her head, “No, not at all. I was actually hoping for cake and ice cream.”

I just laugh, “Trust me. I wasn’t expecting this to happen either. Still, I’m just happy that people are having fun on my birthday.”

She gives me a smile, “I brought you a present. Sorry I didn’t wrap it or anything, but I thought you would like it.” She hands me a couple of books and I accept them. “They are a collection of stories from H.P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythos, and also the King in Yellow. I don’t know if you have read them, but I think that you would like them.”

“Thanks! Yeah, I haven’t had a chance to read them, but I’ve heard of them. Thank you, Rookie.” I reach across Sky and give Rookie a hug, which she awkwardly returns.

After we part, Sky finally separates herself from loving on her bottle and looks around curiously, her eyes falling on Rookie and just staring at her for a bit. Rookie stares back with a confused expression as I watch on curiously.

“Ahhh! The rival!” Sky stands and points at Rookie, apparently only just now realizing who she is sitting next to. I make sure to keep a hand holding her, so she doesn’t fall over or anything.

Rookie blinks as she tries to process all of this, after a bit, realization hits her. “Oh, that’s right. You hissed at me because you thought I was going to steal Lain…”

“You can’t have her! Lain is mine!” She declares, hugging my head due to the fact that I am still sitting, and she is now standing. I just fight to hold back my blush and a laugh, taking a drink from my beer.

Rookie raises her hands, “Don’t worry, I’m not gonna-”

Sky interrupts her, “I’ve gi, gifted her a great weapon! A powerful weapon! What have… what you given her? You can’t… you can’t beat me!”

“Uh… I gave her books?”

“Ah?” Sky looks to me and sees the books laying on the table in front of me. A look of shock fills her, and I watch, my head still wrapped up in a hug, as she seems to try and process something. “Books…. Books… Books don’t beat a weapon! My gift is better!” She declares, a look of victory on her face.

Rookie is looking a bit miffed about having an angry drunk girl pointing and yelling at her, so she raises her voice and says, “Oh!? So, if I get Lain a gift better than what you got her, she’ll be mine then? What did you get her anyways?”

Sky looks utterly flabbergasted by this, so I pipe in, “She got me my sledgehammer.”

Sky locks onto that and nods her head, “That right! I gifted her the hammer! A powerful weapon!” A big smile on her face.

Rookie counters, “You didn’t answer my question. If I get her something better than a sledgehammer, will she be mine? I can take her from you?”

Sky freezes up a bit, eventually she answers, “No! You would have to fight me in a duel. I refuse to give her up!” Declaring it to the world.

“Hmmm, I’m pretty sure I could take you in a duel though? I’m a soldier. I’m pretty sure I could beat you in a fight.”

Sky freezes up again and I can feel her shaking a bit. I want to move to stop this. I can tell that Rookie isn’t serious about it, but Sky definitely is. Despite how human she looks now; she is still a Kobold on the inside. They take their traditions very seriously, so drunk or not, she is being serious. Before I can stop her, she points at Rookie and yells, “I… I challenge you to a fight to the death! You can’t take Lain from me… not while I still breathe!” By the end she is baring her teeth and little claws, ready to jump on Rookie and savage her like a wild animal.

I shoot Rookie a look and she sends one back, slowly she raises her hands to placate the fuming drunk Kobold and says, “Fine, fine, I give up. I don’t want to risk my life fighting over Lain. You win, she is all yours.”

Sky blinks, her hands still held up, claws at the ready to attack, “You give up?”

“Yes.”

“You, you won’t try to take her?”

“Nope, she’s all yours. You win, you’re the stronger female.” Rookie deadpans.

Sky blinks a couple of time and then shoots both hands up in the air, cheering, “I won!!! I beat my first rival! Yay!” She jumps around and pulls me into a kiss before pulling away and taking a deep swig from her drink.

Around us, people -mostly drunks- that got drawn over by the commotion, start to cheer for Sky’s valiant victory against her very first rival. Sanders and Sandy are clapping and cheering from across the table while also jokingly consoling Rookie for her regretful loss. She just gives them a stink eye and the middle finger.

Looking around at the crowd and hearing some of the partying getting a bit too intense, I decide that now is probably as good a time as any to get going.

From somewhere in the back, I think I can hear as a fight breaks out. From somewhere else, something made of glass and probably expensive breaks. Over at the drink table some people are doing keg stands…

Yikes… ok yeah. I think that is enough for this party. I don’t want to be here when the MP’s come rolling in to shut this all down. Time to go.

Mouthing a silent thank you to Rookie, I stand and scoop up my victorious girlfriend into my arms, giving her a kiss. She hugs me tightly and everyone cheers again, much to Sky’s absolute delight.

Carrying her out of the cafeteria in a princess carry, a bottle of vodka cradled in her arms, people make jokes about me getting lucky tonight and some other things that I choose to ignore. I don’t fail to notice that Rookie used the opening of everyone watching me as a chance to finally escape a very draining social event right before everyone would inevitably shift their attention to her. A smart decision.

The Sand couple had also disappeared while I wasn’t looking. They probably guessed that the MP’s would be here soon as well and decided that they would rather spend their night together in bed, rather than getting chewed out by angry CO’s.

Carrying Sky home, I make sure to shower her in compliments and give her a kiss every time she asks for one. After a short walk through a light layer of freshly fallen snow, we get home and the guard lets us in. He asks if he should go for a walk, discreetly asking if he should give us some privacy, but I tell him no and thank him for his hard work.

It takes a bit of convincing to get the vodka bottle away from Sky, but she finally gives it to me in exchange for a trade of ten kisses. A fair price that I happily pay, much to her delight.

The bottle now safely set aside in the kitchen along with my new books, I carry her into her room and set her on her bed. She immediately sets herself to work on trying to rip off both her clothes and my own, but I stop her, only helping to get her undressed. Taking off her necklace, I carefully place it on the table next to her bed. I then try luring her into her nest of blankets and pillows. I end up having to use myself as bait, but she quite happily bites, and I drag her into her nest as she giggles happily.

“Lain, sex! Let’s do it! Please? I won; I won you. Let’z, do it!” She says groggily.

I give her a smile and maneuver her so that she is laying comfortably on her side. She keeps grabbing me all over and trying to take my clothes off. I just let her grab me as she pleases but, I stop any of her attempts at taking my clothes off.

“No Sky. Not when you're drunk. We can have sex when you're sober.”

She pouts, “No, I want… I want to now. Let’z do it. I won. Pwease?”

“Trust me, I really want to. But not when you're drunk.” I tell her, but she starts to tear up.

I panic a bit and quickly think of a way to make her happy, “Ah… No crying, please no crying. Ok… Uh, you win. Alright?”

“Sex?” She asks sleepily. She looks like she is moments away from nodding off.

“Yes, because you won. You deserve a reward.” I say giving her a smile.

“Yay~~!” Her eyes barely managing to stay open.

“Here, I’ll start by giving you some kisses and petting your head. But I want you to close your eyes for me, Ok?”

“Mhm…. Sounds, nice….” She mumbles, closing her eyes just like I asked.

She starts to nod off a bit and I crawl into bed with her. Wrapping her up in a light hug, I give her little kisses here and there as I pet her hair. She happily smiles with her eyes closed and eventually she drifts off to sleep, her breathing becoming rhythmic and relaxed.

“Oh, thank goodness. She finally fell asleep. If she kept pushing, I would have been in danger…” I whisper.

Carefully getting up from her bed, I give her a kiss on the cheek and go to the kitchen to grab one of the books that Rookie had gifted me. Returning to Sky’s room, I take a spot beside her on the bed, moving my tail so that she can hold it in her sleep. She happily grabs it and pulls it in for a hug.

I look at her with a smile, “Well, I guess I’m trapped. I won’t be leaving here for the rest of the night.” I say with a little laugh.

Cracking open ‘The King in Yellow,’ I get to reading. Occasionally, I will pet Sky’s head as she sleeps and make sure that she remains laying on her side. She drank quite a bit after all.

“Good night, Sky. I’ll see you in the morning.”
