Tentacles slashing apart everything around me and tearing through walls. I walk through the building turned wasp nest with my passenger strapped to my back like the worlds angriest backpack.
Corpses of giant wasps litter the floor as I rip my way through the building in search of the queen.
I could just simply bring down the whole building on top of everything, but I need to confirm that the queen is dead before I do so. If she gets away, she could make a new nest and repopulate. Potentially closer to the base, and that would put the humans at risk.
After clearing through the second floor, I destroy the ceiling above me and lift myself up into the third floor on shadowed limbs. Moving through and just tearing down walls as I go -instead of using the doors because I don’t have to, and I feel like breaking stuff today - I eventually stumble upon the queen wasp in her paper-mâché throne room. All around the room is a bunch of massive eggs that could easily fit a human child.
In the back of the room is the queen. Appearance wise, besides being bigger than the others and having a larger abdomen, she doesn’t look much different than the rest. In the room along with her is a handful of wasps that look a little more dangerous than the others. Though mostly, it is just that their mandibles look extra ‘rip and tear’ like. Probably royal guards or something.
The guards are quick to charge me, their nasty looking mandibles clattering as they lunge for the intruder to their little kingdom. Swiping out with my hand wreathed in shadows, sword like claws extending from my hands, I walk forward as I cut them into ribbons, their bodies falling into pieces as I pass them by in a casual stroll.
Walking over to the queen, she buzzes at me and puts on threat displays as she backs away into a corner. Behind me, more wasps continue swarming into the room, but I simply flood the space behind me with spikes that reach towards the ceiling, impaling everything and even destroying most of the eggs in the room as everything gets impaled.
With dozens of corpses suspended in the air behind me and the room now even more of a mess than it was before, I approach the queen as she is cornered. Reaching forward with my shadow coated hand, I catch her by the mandible as she tries to bite me.
She tries to chew on my hand as I hold her, but she can’t get through the shadows on my hand, and I honestly doubt that she would even be able to actually harm me regardless.
Problem with being this strong now. I feel like I am bullying these things now. And to think that just a few months ago, this thing could have torn me in half and had me for brunch…
Pulling the thrashing thing forward, I look into its compound eyes as shadows move to cover the creature and keep it from moving.
“Huh… Would you look at that. If I wanted to, I could turn you into a person…”
Looking over my shoulder, I check out the sample that I captured, but it comes back as negative.
“Hm, probably because she is the queen, and this thing is just a drone? Neat. Unfortunately, I already swore to myself that I wouldn’t make any new peoples for at least another ten years. Gotta focus on my cute little Gremlins first.”
Looking back to the queen wasp and petting her head, I tell her, “So, I’m sorry. While I am most certainly tempted to turn you into a person, I already have a bit too much on my plate right now. Maybe after I make Harpies next, then I can make some Bee People… I wonder how that would work out? I imagine that the queen would want to make a monarchy of her own. Need to account for populations and I would need lots of land for them… Hmm, yeah. Insect races will have to wait for now. Some could probably live underground, like… Ant People? Hm, more to think about for the future I guess...”
As I talk to myself, the queen continues to thrash about angrily, my prisoner on my back even getting riled up as well while I just talk to myself.
“Hmm, I could bring you back as a sample instead? No, no… Considering that I have the option of turning you into a person, I would feel bad about giving you over to the researchers to be studied and poked at. Better to just give them a mindless drone to play with instead. Plus, we wouldn’t want you laying eggs in the base. That’s just asking for a containment breach. Sorry, but I have to kill you. No hard feelings though.”
Giving my final words to the queen, I pull hard on her mandible and rip her head off. It comes free with the sound of crunching chitin. Held in my hands, the head continues to move its mandible and shake its antennae, still alive and clearly panicking from the shock of being decapitated. Covering the poor thing in a ball of shadows, I force it to rapidly compress and crush the head until I have a golf ball sized sphere resting in the palm of my hand. My shadows release the now headless corpse of the queen and allow it to fall to the side. Its limbs still twitch as its body spasms from sparking nerves.
Dematerializing the spikes in the room, all of the suspended wasp corpses drop to the floor as a mess.
Stolen novel; please report.
Turning and listening to the building, the sound of pissed off wasps buzzing around seems to come to a slow stop. Even the one strapped to my back seems to go catatonic as it just stops struggling.
Hmm, without the queen to control them, it looks like the drones are useless.
“Well, let’s wrap this up. It is getting loud outside, so I better hurry.”
Looking around the room, I find a couple of eggs that didn’t get destroyed in the fight. Walking over, I pick one up and check it out. The surface of it is transparent, so I can see the baby wasp inside.
“More samples wouldn’t hurt. I imagine that eggs could be useful.” I tell myself with a shrug.
Wrapping up two of them, I take the child sized eggs and attach them to my wasp backpack.
“Feel like I am playing Death Stranding now. Just need to strap a psychic baby to my chest and I’ll be good to go. I’ll rebuild America one delivery at a time, hahaha.”
With a bunch of samples collected, and ready to go, I turn away from the twitching corpse of the queen, the Devil side of me is disappointed that I didn’t turn her, but I ignore it and manifest shadowed tentacles all around me.
The limbs lash out under my command and start to tear through walls and ceilings, piercing all the way through in every direction until they are tearing their way to the outside.
The building starts to shake all around me as scars are torn through the building and it quickly begins to lose its structural integrity.
The top floor and the roof are quick to give out and collapse first, even as my limbs tear apart the floors below me. As the ceiling collapses down around me, more limbs lash out and swat aside everything that would land on me, whole section of roof simply getting moved aside to collapse into the building around me.
Eventually the floor gives out beneath me. Falling for a split second, I latch on the anything I can with more tentacles, suspending myself in the air as the building collapses around me. As my supports fall, my tentacles snap to other supports, even if they only last a moment, and carry myself and my packages down with the collapsing building in a controlled descent. Alighting atop a pile of rubble, I watch as the rest of the building falls apart around me, only a couple walls remaining standing in sheer stubborn defiance to the will of gravity.
Walking down the pile of rubble and the occasional twitching corpse of a wasp, I fan away the dust and scattered snow in the air with a pair of massive folding fans.
“Well, that takes care of that. How are the others doing?”
Looking around the town, I watch as another building a couple blocks down collapses as one of my Fiends - Frank from the look of it- comes barreling out through a wall and then straight into another building, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake as he runs through everything like a bull in a china shop.
Looking off in another direction, I catch sight of a Jeep getting tossed through the air, tumbling end over end as Sam swings around a crinkled-up mess of a Sedan like a baseball bat. She mows down hordes of swarming rats as she laughs like a maniac, having the time of her life as she paints everything around her red.
Well, as long as they are having fun, that is all that matters.
Pulling on the connections that are linked to me, everyone seems to be coming through with feelings of happiness and entertainment. Even the usually moody and sad guys of my Demons, like Xander, seem to be having fun right now. And honestly, it is hard to not have fun while just rampaging and destroying stuff with wanton abandon of their restraints; to just let loose and break stuff.
Searching a bit deeper, I pull for my connections to the Gremlins, all the way back at home. They all seem to be sleeping right now and are all generally pretty happy. Considering the time, they are probably all currently in a big cuddle puddle enjoying a nap after having eaten lunch. Lunch menu for today should have been… Chicken strips and mash potatoes with corn, with pudding for dessert. Emilie and Kaity’s favorites, so they should be having a pretty good day today.
Mmm, makes me wish I was there… I loved getting to snuggle with all of them and Sky last time. They are all just so soft and cuddly. Getting to relax in a big pile of them as I held Sky in her sleep was incredibly relaxing. It was almost like we were sleeping with our kids… it was, nice…
A feeling comes over me as the thought of having kids of my own comes to me. I can feel my instincts whispering that I should give it a try, but I am quick to squash it. It’s just the Devil part of me pushing me to make more Demons. And what better way to do that, than by making more queens?
The nice thing about having learned to embrace my new self, and what I am, is that I have learned to keep my impulses better under control. A month ago, this urge would have probable driven me crazy until I could get home and have some quality fun time with Sky under the sheets, throwing sex at the problem until my urges get drowned out under the waves of sweaty, sheerly unrestrained, and utterly mind-destroying, pleasure and ecstasy.
Now, I can just accept it for what it is and pack it away for later. I’ve acknowledged that the desire is there, but I will not be pursuing it for now. Still feeling horny though…
Regardless! While it would be nice to have a kid, I am not exactly in the best of situations to be raising a little Demon Queen Junior right now… Hells, I’m not even married yet. This isn't even mentioning the whole, I’m a lesbian issue…
Still... I know that Sky wants kids too. She hasn’t told me outright that she does, but I have seen the way that she looks at children when we go out on dates in the base, or even walks around her people’s new city they’ve been building. How she watches the young Kobolds run around and play, or the mothers carrying their pups.
…
Maybe we could adopt? Not right now, obviously, it would have to be after everything calms down, but in the future… Or heck, maybe artificial insemination is an option? I’m sure that Dr. Doe would be all for helping us with that… All the data she could get…
Something to leave for the future. Still need to figure out when I am going to ask Sky to marry me after all, and that comes first. Already got us big a house with plenty of land, so we are good there at least…
Letting my mind run wild with thoughts of married life and how beautiful Sky would look as a mom, I launch myself up to a nearby roof and watch as my Demons have an absolute blast completely demolishing a town with their bare hands. With happy and warm thoughts filling my head, I sit in the snow and watch as a town full of monsters and creepy-crawlies is quickly bulldozed into a field of rubble and corpses.
