Finishing a week of hardcore questing, I decided to take a week off and relax. I decided to help manage the guild's tavern, an easy task that earns money. After a few days of managing the tavern, I decided to take one or two slaying quests to exercise my lethargic body.
After choosing a few quests to do today, I walked out of the guild and headed towards the North Mountains. After a few hours of traveling the Great Plains, I spot on the ground some weird tracks. The footprints look like horse tracks but judging by the position of the tracks, they look like they belong to two-legged hoofed creatures. Wonder what type of creatures are these.... Anyways, curiosity got the better of me and I decided to go check out this new type of creature.
As I followed the tracks, I made a turn left of the Great Plains. After a few miles, I see an encampment in the distance. The owner of the tracks are actually Satyrs!...but how? Why are Satyrs all the way over here? Judging from the camp, they must have recently moved here. Using my Ghost Mask, I turn invisible and approached the camp. The Satyrs are speaking in a variant type of the Language of the Beasts so I could understand most of the words. From what I gathered, the Satyrs came from the Mortal Grasslands, but because of some powerful beast terrorizing and causing them to move from their ancestral homelands. Apparently, there are some monster tribes like the Centaurs who have stayed behind to try to fight off the monster.
Hearing enough, I ventured away from the camp and headed north to the Ash Plains to kill some Ash Beasts. After arriving at the Ash Plains, I explored around to look for some Ash Beasts. After searching for a while, I see a herd of Ash Beasts resting by an oasis. Now Ash Beasts don't have one specific look but instead, they are any animal/monster who have survived and continued to live in the Ash Plains. Upon closer look of the herd of Ash Beasts, I see that they are a type of giraffe-wolf hybrid. Their bodies are like that of giraffes but their necks and legs are not as long and their heads are that of wolves. I sat in hiding while waiting for the Ash Beasts to finish resting. Once I see them start to leave, I stealthily followed them.
Without them noticing, I speedily crept up behind the slowest Ash Beast and beheaded it with my skinning knife. I catch the head and the body to prevent them from landing on the ground with a loud sound. After quickly storing the body into my storage ring, I quickly followed the Ash Beast herd again. Catching up to the next Ash Beast, I slashed with my skinning knife and beheaded the second Ash Beast. Continuing this process, I had slain 10 Ash Beasts and stored their bodies. As I see the herd run away, I was surprised at my speed. It seems I have raised my speed to the point where even enemies do not notice my kills. Next, I hurried southeast towards the North Mountains to kill some Rocs.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
After another two hours, I arrive at the North Mountains...wow...those Firebirds sure are busy these days.... First, it's the Wyverns now it's the Rocs...are the Firebirds trying to overtake all of the North and East Barrier Mountains? Oh...shouldn't dally too long. I look up just in time to see the remaining wounded Rocs fleeing. Quietly, I follow the Rocs. After following them near a valley away from the Firebirds, I decided to make my move. I approached the fleeing Rocs from behind and cast a couple of fireballs at them. Given how high my level of accuracy is, I was able to hit all of the Rocs with my fireballs. The Rocs screamed in pain as some crashed into nearby mountains while others plummeted to the ground - falling to their deaths. Using Flow Like Wind, I appeared before each Roc that crashed into a mountain and slit their throats. After killing all the Rocs, I collected their beaks before they burned to ash. Finished, I return back to the guild to report my quest completions.
Once I finished my quests, I headed back to the tavern to order a drink or two of nice cold honey mead. Upon arriving, I see Fang. He was busily sorting the contents in his bag. I sneaked a peek at the contents and saw four books written in Middle Realm language...my home realm. Remembering the IOU he owed me, I asked him for the four books. He handed them over since he could not identify or read the books. Upon receiving the books, I identified them:
1. Meridian Destruction Technique - S rank
2. Dislocation Technique - A rank
3. Thousand Poison Art - S rank
4. Earth-Meld Escape Technique - B rank
The contents of these books, I will look into later on. For now, I put the books back into my bag for later use.
