More Guild Quests Part 5

Sometime along the way, the baby yeti woke up. Initially, the baby was frightened but I was able to calm him down. I tried to speak in Sasquatch language but to no avail. I tried saying some of the Yeti words that I picked up while conversing with the father yeti, but the baby didn't not understand. It seems that the baby does not know how to talk yet. I recall from books and scrolls that depict yetis with good intelligence. So, I decided to teach the baby yeti the human language. But this is another story.

As I walked deeper and deeper into the snow mountains, I couldn't help but sense some hostility aiming towards me. I looked around and caught sight of a flurry of movements. I pursued the movements until I met a group of snow children...but these snow children were carrying...weapons?! Why? Aren't snow children kind and harmless?

One of the snow children approached me with an ice spear in hand. He pointed the spear towards me and words began to appear in my mind. "Who are you? What is your business here?"

"I'm called Khaos - a simple mask maker." I stated, "I wish to acquire a drop of your blood. If tha-."

Before I finished, the surrounding snow children started chattering endlessly and stabbed their ice spears towards my direction. "So you are with those despicable humans who came by yesterday? Scram! Our village do not welcome you. Step closer and get speared."

"Wait! I'm not with those humans you have mentioned."

"We don't believe you."

Desperately, I asked, "What can I do for you to believe me?"

The snow child leader pondered a bit before saying, "Kill those humans and bring back their leader's weapon."

With no other choice, I agreed. Being shown the direction, I prepared to leave. Before, I left, I was able to convince the snow children into keeping an eye on the baby yeti (who I later named "Tyn" after the color of his dark silver skin and fur, this is unusual for a yeti which makes him a variant with both Ice and Darkness affinities). After half an hour of trekking through the snow, I arrived at a small encampment. Putting on my Ghost Mask and transforming into a ghost, I stealthily scouted the camp. The camp was pretty small with around 10 humans. The biggest threat I can see is the leader who is apparently an Ice mage. Curious as to why these humans want to attack the snow children's village, I hovered around and listened to their conversations. From the bits and pieces, I was able to understand that this group of humans were monster poachers. Their main goal currently was to attack the snow children and sell them to slave dealers.

Now understanding who these despicable people are, I immediately switched into my Werewolf Mask and began attacking the poachers. Quickly, all except the leader were dead.

"Give it up mage and accept your death." I said.

"Hmph, it is you who will die today." The mage replied as he cast a spell.

Suddenly the ground shook as ice spouted forth. The Ice mage threw three items into the ice, which caused the ice to shift and shape until three ice golems stood before me. Now most people would panic at this point, but I was grinning ear to ear. Nice! Three ice golems, perfect for completing my quest. I charged forward and leapt towards the ice golems with my claws raised.

*SCRATCH SCREECH SCRATCH* However, the defense of the ice golems was too strong. What should I do next? Before I could think of a solution, an ice arm appeared in my view. Barely raising my guard, I was sent flying. I crashed to the floor a couple of meters away. Clearing my mind from the daze, I thought hard. Then, I recalled that the Ice mage made the golems by throwing something into the ice...could those items be the core?

I looked at the ice golems and see that each golem has a glowing spot in the center. I got up immediately and rushed towards the ice golems. I headed straight to the leftmost golem. Before I reached that golem, I abruptly changed directions and attacked the rightmost golem. I thrust my claws straight towards the core and pierced through. Without the support of the core, the ice golem crumbles into chunks of ice. Without a moment of rest, I turned and tumbled towards one of the remaining golems, dodging its arm in the process. I attacked and destroyed the second golem. At the corner of my eye, I see the Ice mage preparing to make more golems. I lunged forward and grabbed a sharp piece of ice and hurled it at the mage. The pierced through the mage's mouth before he could uttered the spell. With eyes wide in shock, the mage collapsed. After a few seconds of struggle, the mage died.

I stared at the last golem and rushed over. The golem raised its arms to knock me off my feet. I dodged sharply and kicked ferociously at its feet. The kick caused the golem to fall on his back. Without giving the golem a chance to get up, I straddled the golem and pierced its core. Finally, I was able to destroy the three golems and wipe out the poachers. I took off my mask, grabbed the mage's staff, and headed towards the snow children village.

When I arrived, the leader of the snow children saw the staff I was holding and excitedly proclaim that the staff was the weapon the leader of the poachers used. The snow children all thanked me for helping them in their time of need.

"Is there anything we can do to repay you?" The snow children asked.

"I'm on a quest to find some ice crystals." I answered, "Can I have some of your blood?"

The leader of the snow children nodded his head and proceeded to prick his finger. Five drops of blood dripped out and before it touched the ground, the drops became solidified ice crystals. Taking the ice crystals and baby yeti, I left for my next destination.
