Ryzen sprinted through the tunnel, hoping that he would make it in time to save Enancia. His hope lifted as he began to see the light coming from the small town but it quickly shattered as he realized just what the light was from.
Everything was on fire for as far as the eye could see. The inn he stayed at, the old woman’s shop, it was all burning. He slowly walked through the desecrated town until he found the site of the battle. It was not pleasant.
Countless bodies of humans were scattered everywhere, clearly sucked dry of their blood. The thought of Enancia’s dead corpse came into his mind and he clenched his fists in fear. That thought scared him. It actually scared him a lot.
He frantically started searching each body to ensure it wasn’t her. He knew the vampires weren’t supposed to kill her but what if they did? What if she had died alone like she had feared?
He looked through countless bodies but he couldn’t find anyone that looked like her. He paused for a moment as he found Marilee, dead on the floor. He had known her, alive and well.
Again, that image of Enancia, dead somewhere crept into his mind. Tears started to run down his face as he tripped and fell to the floor. He crawled away from Marilee’s body and came face to face with the woman who had given him free clothes. Except, it was only her head that he was facing. The rest of her body was off in the distance.
What if something like that had happened to Enancia? Was she beheaded? Ryzen slammed his fists into the ground and screamed. Why had he treated her so coldly? She was always so nice and energetic but he had just treated her like trash. She had gone through hell and back yet not a single complaint of it left her mouth.
He crumpled into a ball and let himself rot. He didn’t know what to do or where to go. He didn’t even know if he wanted to do anything anymore. The fire slowly extinguished and the light that came with it as well.
Ryzen sat there in complete darkness, feeling empty inside. It wasn’t till he heard sounds of conversation that he finally brought his head up from his hands.
“Is this the place I need to scan?” an annoyed voice said.
“Yes, apparently it's some rebellion shithole Alice and Venis burned down. We’re here to make sure nobody happened to survive.” someone said in return.
“Well, I already scanned and there’s nothing here. I don’t know why we are wasting our time. Nobody would have survived if Venis was there.”
“Yeah, I would usually agree but there’s still someone out there. Venis thinks the bloke who ran through section one and took out Lilian, James, and Markov was trying to get back here.”
“Wait, seriously? I thought they ended up getting that fucker. He’s still alive? Shit, what if he’s here? We can’t fucking fight someone who can kill James, Lilian, and Markov? We’re barely elite guards! They were fucking veterans!”
“Relax, he ain’t here. You already scanned everything and it’s impossible to avoid that shit.”
“I guess… Hey, who was the white-haired chick Venis was carrying when he was returning to the state sector?”
Ryzen’s ears perked up upon hearing this but he didn’t make any moves yet. He had to hear more.
“Oh, her? Apparently, she was some demon chick he caught outside the city a while back. She’s apparently pretty strong so he’s keeping her on a leash for some higher-ups from the capital.”
“Oh, shit, the one that took out the last ruler, William? She’s still alive?”
“Yeah, she was cursed…”
Ryzen had heard enough. Enancia was still alive. He instantly killed one of the soldiers and sliced the other’s hands off before they even had time to react.

“This state sector, tell me more about it,” Ryzen growled as he faced the trembling vampire. Apparently, there was another sector that nobody knew about and Ryzen had just found the perfect information source.
“Goddamn it! It fucking hurts!” the vampire moaned in pain.
Ryzen pulled back his dagger to inflict another strike but that alone was enough to get the vampire talking.
“Wait! All the elites and governmental officials that keep the city running live there! It’s also how we trade with the other cities!” the vampire frantically said.
“Why does nobody know about it?” Ryzen asked.
“It’s kept under wraps so that nobody messes with it or tries to escape!”
“I thought the exit to the city was in sector one?” Ryzen asked in annoyance.
“We tell people that to find out if they’re trying to leave the city or not. It’s how we find traitors or runaway humans!”
“Where can I find this state sector?”
“I… I can’t…”
Ryzen stabbed his dagger into the vampire’s leg, prompting a loud scream to ensue.
“Fuck! There’s an entrance to it from each sector! The closest one is in sector two, where we came from! It’s in the state building that’s located in the business district! Now, please! Let me go!”
Ryzen emotionlessly walked away from the vampire as a shadow dagger struck him in his heart. He would leave no liabilities.
You have killed level 40 vampire!
You have killed level 40 vampire!
A small smile appeared on Ryzen’s face. He had found out that Enancia was still alive and even where she currently was. He could still save her.
He popped into his shadow and rapidly moved back towards the business district of sector two. He rushed through everything as fast as he could and practically jumped out of the sewers. A gasp came from a crowd near him but he didn’t care.
He walked up to one of the vampires in it and growled, “The state building, where is it?”
They quickly pointed towards what was conveniently the largest building in the district. Ryzen nodded and quickly left the vampire alone.
He rapidly flew through the city and into the building, ignoring everything and everyone around him. He searched the entirety of the building in his shadow but could find nothing that led to a secret tunnel.
Just as he was about to crash out, thinking that the vampire had lied to him, he saw a guard in pitch-black armor walk into the building. Apparently, that armor signified an elite status which meant a lead for Ryzen.
He watched as he spoke for a bit with one of the people in the building. They then walked up to a wall and the worker bowed. The elite vampire walked through the wall, shocking Ryzen. Apparently, there was some sort of illusion skill on that shit.
He laughed at the stupidity of it all and followed the elite vampire in. Sure enough, he was able to walk straight through. Interestingly enough, the elite guard walked up a set of stairs and Ryzen followed him all the way until they reached a tunnel.
He sent a shadow dagger right into the vampire’s heart and walked right past his dying body. They had gone much higher than Ryzen had anywhere else. This state sector really was the key to getting out of this city.
You have killed level 39 vampire!
Ryzen nodded at the notification confirming his skill and sped through the tunnel. This entire city was starting to get on his nerves and he couldn’t wait to get out of here. He was tired of traversing dusty tunnels everywhere. That being said, he knew it would get much harder once he left.
The outside world would likely be lit up which meant that his shadow would stick out like a sore thumb. Currently, the darkness of the caves meant that he always had a place to hide. Really, it was the perfect starting scenario.
Ryzen came to a halt as the tunnel he was walking through moved to a much larger one. He could see tons of people either working and packing goods or walking around guarding the place.
Every single one of the guards here wore that same pitch-black armor indicating they were elite guards. Still, Ryzen wasn’t scared. The only vampire who had actually managed to cause him any trouble was that Lilian bitch. She was level 49 but he didn’t feel like that compensated for the insane gap of strength between her and other elites. It was likely that her class was something insane.
Ryzen slowly continued through the main tunnel, in his shadow of course. He knew he couldn’t be found as long as he was safe but still, he didn’t want to risk it. As he continued walking, an unbelievable amount of light started entering the cavern. It was more illuminated than anything he had ever seen before.
He watched as workers dragged supplies in from the outside of the city. On the other side stood a group of vampires managing a huge caravan.
Ryzen could escape right here. Nobody would ever find him, but he didn’t even consider the thought. He had one goal in mind and that goal was to save Enancia.
