Analith

Analith couldn’t help but groan as she reported that everything was fine with the new human group. Of course, nobody feared they would ever be strong enough to rebel but they did fear that some random vampire would try to forcefully take the humans for themselves. Still, there was nearly no chance of that happening which left Analith extremely bored. She was also supposed to discourage the humans from making any rash decisions but her mental skills made that task mind-bogglingly easy.

Well, there was one person that bothered her but in the end, he was still human. Pathetic and useless. He always sat there in the corner, thinking about who knows what. Analith often wished to see what had kept him so enraptured over these past few days yet doing so was impossible. At least for a high D grade like herself.

Analith walked back to the dining room where all the humans were currently being kept and took her usual spot in the front of the line. Every day, each of the humans was used as food and was brutally bitten in different spots so the vampires could get the best taste. All of the humans always looked completely awful afterwards and Analith did her best to fake this as well. The only one who never did was the one boy she had been annoyed about. He never seemed to have any bites or marks on him.

This bugged Analith but ultimately, there was no way he was avoiding getting used as food. It was true that the security around the humans was rather lax but there were too many vampires around to count and he wouldn’t be able to simply slip by.

Analith started the walk back behind Chestez, the vampire who was in charge of leading the humans to and from the dining hall every day. Once they returned to their living area, everyone settled back down, already getting into the swing of things. Analith smiled as the domination of the humans was going well. That smile quickly turned into a frown as she noticed someone she had never seen before. Not only was there now a white-haired girl here, she was sitting next to the boy who had caught Analith’s eye.

She was able to write off everything else about him before but this was simply too much. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, this was just too strange. It would be necessary to confront the girl and figure out what was going on.

“Who are you and how did you get here?” Analith glared at the girl menacingly yet she seemed unperturbed by it.

Instead of the girl responding, the boy aside from her spoke up, “I found her hiding during the feeding hour. I reckon she’s from another group and got lost due to something happening to the vampire that was… being nourished by her. Isn’t that right?”

The woman quickly agreed by saying, “Y-Yes, I was lost! There was nowhere else to go!” she nodded along.”

Did they think that Analith was stupid? Even an elementary school kid could figure out that they had just made up a story on the spot. Yet, the surrounding people seemed to agree with them. This angered Analith to the point of yelling, “Bullshit!”

She immediately regretted this decision and tried to cover herself by saying, “I mean there is just no way that is true! What if she is a vampire, guys?”

To her surprise, another student spoke up and said, “What would they gain from hiding with us? We live like shit and we are treated like it too.”

Analith angrily gnashed her teeth together and decided to walk away from the situation. She would have no choice but to report this to the higher-ups. She wouldn’t dare say it was connected but there had been a string of mysterious murders in sector ten and they hadn’t found the killer. Analith didn’t think it was the human that was doing this but it would still be good information for the higher-ups to know nonetheless.

Due to the severity of the situation, Analith would make this trip during the sleeping hours of the human group. Usually, she would just sleep with the humans as she still needed rest. Unfortunately, things such as sleep didn’t start to become obsolete until Tier C. So, she would have to skip it for today.

She made the usual conversation with the humans and once again tried not to tear her tongue out. The humans spoke of such vulgar and inane things. They always focused on the past and simply accepted their fates. It was pathetic. Not that Analith minded as it made her life easier but how could they simply adapt to becoming cattle?

Slowly, the day went by and soon enough it was time for the humans to sleep. Analith pretended to sleep until a few hours had passed and then proceeded to use her sneak skill to leave the room. She would have to travel to the sector’s main hub to find the general sector manager who would then report it to the current leader, Venis. Many opposed his rule since he wasn’t yet a B class but nobody was stronger than him so they were forced to accept it. Analith personally didn’t mind his rule as he was fair and allowed everyone enough food to sustain a healthy life.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

A slight noise behind Analith caused her to rapidly turn around and scan the area. After finding nothing, she continued on her way. She was losing it with all the shit that has been happening around here. She had been trained by multiple other vampires who had done this job before and none had ever gone through anything like this. Sure, they sometimes had to deal with fights, killings, or even sexual assault, they never mentioned another human appearing. That just didn’t seem possible.

Analith casually turned the corner and suddenly found her legs struggling to carry her weight. Her face scrunched up in pain as she screamed and toppled over.

“What the fuck!” she yelled out loud.

She rapidly searched the area for anyone or anything but saw nothing. She started blasting off random skills in an attempt to overpower the attack but it was to no avail. She hit nothing.

Suddenly, a figure appeared from out of nowhere and stood in front of Analith. She tried to move away but her legs didn’t listen to her. It was then that she finally realized that her Achilles tendons had been slashed to ribbons.

“Stay away!” she screamed as she crawled backward.

“Have you told anyone of the girl?” a familiar voice rang out.

Slowly, the boy she had grown to hate appeared in her vision.

“It’s you! I always knew there was something wrong with you! So, you’re actually a vampire after all! I don’t know how you did it but just know that my death will not be taken lightly. They will hunt you and kill you! If you cease this at once then maybe I will…”

Analith screamed as a purplish dagger was sent into her right hand. She clutched her hand up to her chest and glared at the boy.

“Have you told anyone of the girl?” he once again asked calmly.

“Fuck you!” Analith cried, refusing to respond.

The boy sighed and another dagger pierced Analith’s body. Before she could even scream another three appeared above her left thigh and Analith couldn’t take it anymore. This simply wasn’t possible. There was no way this boy was in the D tier. He had to have been at least C.

“Have you told anyone of the girl?” he asked for the third time.

This time Analith had enough. She rapidly shook her head like a dog. “No, I haven’t yet! Please just stop! It fucking hurts!”

The boy nodded his head in satisfaction. He then walked towards Analith holding a dagger in his hands.

“W-Wait! Please don’t kill me. I don’t want to die!” Analith begged but the boy kept walking forward.

“Please! I’ll do anything. I’ll give you money! Humans! Please!” Analith tried to crawl away but her legs still hadn’t finished healing. Still, she felt that they were almost there.

“I’ll be your bitch! That’s right you can have me all to yourself! Just don’t kill me!” Analith cried out, finally getting the boy to stop.

He frowned as he looked at the pathetic image of Analith whining on the floor. “Disgusting. I would never place any sort of trust in the likes of you.”

Yet, what he didn’t know is that he gave her just enough time to heal her legs. She rapidly jumped to her feet and placed her hand on his forehead. She would have to use her best skill called Soul Sucker which completely and totally manipulates the victim to her will.

She grinned wildly as the boy froze. However, her grin quickly turned into a look of shock as she realized she had never touched the boy. Instead, her hand was placed upon a thin layer of what seemed to be a translucent darkness. Her mental skill had been completely and utterly blocked.

She slowly backed away from the boy with horror in her eyes. The purple dagger, the random disappearing, and the purplish veil were all too much. She had only ever heard of one class that had skills like this in the past. Something that wasn’t supposed to exist anymore. Something that only humans could have. A shadow soldier.

Analith had heard legends of a long-distant past where humans had ruled the world and dominated all the other races. Behind their immense source of strength was the shadow army, a nearly undefeatable set of troops that dominated over each and every foe they encountered. Each of their soldiers was able to defeat a whole tier above themselves due to the extensive stat points they received and the skills that were rivaled by no other.

Such tales and claims had made Analith laugh at such a story in the past. Humans ruling the world? The same ones who were currently existing as cattle in their cities? Who were feasted on by the demons? Who were drained of life force by the succubi? Even the reclusive dwarves and elves shared the delicacy known as humans. They were nothing! They were supposed to be nothing! Yet, the person standing in front of Analith seemed to defy all of that as he stared at her with a wide smirk full of fully straight teeth.

Analith realized that this man could not be allowed to live. Just a single shadow soldier could be enough to change everything. Unfortunately, Analith had no cards left to play and her entire hand was dealt. She was as good as dead.

Before she could even finish the thought, a purple dagger pierced her heart and everything slowly faded to black. Perhaps it was good that she died here. With this monster running around, everything was to change very soon. The humans would make their return.
