It had been a…hectic couple of weeks. Ame, Trixy and Yuki found it somewhat funny at first…At first. The weird atmosphere, the bickering and well, there was the fact that whatever answer Zeta gave them basically left more questions.
It has been about a week since they had first arrived back at the floating islands. In this time Trixy and Ame were able to untangle some of the information they were able to catch in conversations.
Zeta was a curse made by Naru herself. Nectar was some kind of Mixbreed, she had distant Nymph roots. She said that’s why her ability was what it was. Nectar could drain the sugar levels out of things she touched and turn it into energy for herself, that was also why she had to eat so little flesh. Ame had noticed that Trixy being a half demon still needed to eat humans to a point, she fed off of human blood, not flesh. Her and Nectar both didn't need to eat as much as a regular Nu demon. And then there was Yuki. Ame had been under the impression that he was a Nu demon, but he never saw him eat humans…ever. When he asked Yuki about it he just shrugged, and strangely enough it seemed like he genuinely didn't know the answer himself.
Once Avalon got over all the Naru creating random sentient curse’s stuff he asked Ame and Trixy if they had any Breakers bother them.
Ame and Trixy explained to him that the Breakers they met were violent, single minded and not willing to communicate in any way. They also mentioned to him that most of the Breakers were around their age; it sounded more like they were asking more than telling him.
He told them that the Breakers tend to look for younger people because their influenceable, passionate, they have young bodies and they're without trauma. And if they did have trauma it made them that much more fiery.
He said that the “best” Breakers were the ones that would stop at nothing to kill a demon.
Ame and Trixy both raised an eyebrow at the statement.
He looked down at the ground as he contemplated to himself.
Ame and Trixy were both somewhat confused.
He looked at both of them for a moment before going to stand them both up. They glanced at each other as they followed him down the winding hallway.
They ended up in a closed off room. It was strange, everything looked pristine and tidy but stuck in time. Everything was covered in dust. The room looked fancy; it was like stepping into an old mansion from the 1880’s.
Avalon turned around to look at them once he had stepped into the room. Ame and Trixy gave a curious side glance at each other before refocusing on Avalon. He looked at them with tired mournful eyes.
“Ame?....You remember when I told you Naru had recruited other successors?” He asked with a sigh in his voice. Ame gave a nod in return, ignoring the questioning look Trixy shot him.
Avalon let out a small hum before continuing, “...Ester Villin…” He said.
There was a long pause before anyone said anything.
“Ester was a human…Like you. She was strong and smart and polite…and so…nice.” Avalon said, breaking the silence. Ane and Trixy listened to every word, if they heard the small cracks in his voice they didn’t mention it.
“ Ester she was…She was on a mission, she was going after harbinger number 17 if i remember correctly.” He paused. “She found a demon along the way…” He said as he turned his back to them, stepped forward and lightly ran two of his fingers on an old wood desk.
“There was a Breaker. They were trying to kill the demon and…Ester she…She was a kind soul. She tried to reason with him at first but he didn’t want to listen. Ester protected the demon. The Breaker…” His breath hitched. There was a short pause.
“It was about a month later…Before I went to go look for her…She…” He took in a deep breath to steady himself before continuing. “She was decapitated…By her own kin. All because she stood in the way of them hurting an innocent demon..” He finished with a raspy voice.
Trixy stood in shock not knowing how to respond to the information. Ame on the other hand was infuriated. He stood still with his hands balled up into fists at his sides, his teeth were barred and his nose scrunched up in disgust.
Avalon could feel the tension in the air. He took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself so that it may ease the two teenagers that were in a swarm of conflicting emotions.
Ame unintentionally breathed along with Avalon for a moment.
Surprisingly it was Trixy who broke the silence, “Weate!” She said in an urgent voice. Avalon turned to look at her.
“So…Yove tried ‘is afore…An’ it didny work?” She asked in a worried tone.
Ame shot Avalon a shocked look, Avalon met his eyes for a moment before giving Trixy a sorrowful glance. Trixy looked shocked. Her eyes darted around as she tried to untangle the information.
Ame mouthed the words “You didn't tell them?” over at Avalon, who gave him a conflicted glance in return.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
It was silent for a moment and that was all Trixy needed as a confirmation. She gaped at Avalon who refused to make eye contact. After a moment of glancing back and forth between Avalon and Ame she let out a loud scoff before stopping away.
Ame raised his hand and opened his mouth to protest but she was already slamming the door. There was a long moment of silence.
“...I wasn't done…” Avalon huffed in a slightly annoyed voice.
Ame looked at him with a baffled expression. Avalone met his eyes for a moment before standing up straight and leaving the dust covered room; he didn’t spare a glance at Ame who was still looking at him perplexed.
The two women had been sparring before their match was interrupted by one curious Yuki.
His questions begane harmless but they got more and more pointed as the conversation went on.
He was starting to pri with the nature of Zeta.
“Y’know i've never seen a sentient curse before…” Yuki interrogated.
“ Oh my god-” She let out a loud groan.
“ JUST THINK OF IT LIKE A GHOST OKAY?!” She continued with the annoyed voice of someone who has given up on hiding secrets.
Yuki gave her a suspicious side eye.
“Nah…It’s more like birth” He stated confidently.
Zeta just rolled her eyes at him.
Yuki was about to say something when he was interrupted by the sound of the door opening.
“Trixy?” It was avalon. Yuki turned to look at the man with a slightly worried glance.
Avalon searched the room for Trixy only to be met with nothing. He reluctantly brought his eye’s back to Yuki’s, who was now staring at him with a confused look.
“...She’s not with you?...” Avalon said in a small voice just above a whisper. This seemed to worry Yuki a tad more.
“What do you mean?! You had them.” He said finally speaking up.
Nectar and Zeta were starting to get curious as well, due to Yuki’s reaction. Nectar turned to look at Avalon and raised a brow. It was silent for a moment, Avalon trying to find the right words.
He opened his mouth right as Yuki let out a dramatic groan and pushed past him. Avalon stood there shocked for a moment before following the man.
Trixy was used to the cold thin air of the night sky, it was something familiar to her, therefore somewhat comforting. It reminded her of simpler times, when it was just her Nithe and Yuki out in Scotland.
Before Ame, Avalon, Naru and Onyx Nithe and Yuki were all that she had.
So far Avalon, Naru and Ame have been either too polite or nervous to ask Yuki or Trixy about her blood origin. About who she was.
The first assumption that she was Yuki’s child was quickly shot down when Naru reluctantly asked if Yuki was her father. After that it wasn’t brought up again.
Her denying the parental relationship all together though was not the whole truth either.
Tixine Plague or her birth name, Blair, was around the age of six when she first met Yuki.
Blair had grown up in a somewhat normal household, other then the fact that her mother was an incubus, her parents would fight from time to time but it wasn't something that ever stood out to her.
Her father was a human. He was a tall man with a rectangular figure. He had blond yellow hair that stopped at his shoulder. He would sometimes sing to Blair, when she sat in his lap and watched him widdle, in that thick scottish accent.
When she was young she didn’t understand why she couldn’t go play with the kids that lived down the hill and in the village. She didn’t understand why she and her mother had to stay inside as he had the freedom to do whatever he pleased.
One day she went out. There wasn’t a single defiant intention with it either, she was merely just excited to go play on her swing. She had forgotten to ask her mother or father to come with her. By the time she realized it was too late.
Blair didn't understand what was going on. Unbeknownst to her she was seen by some children, human children.
The boy’s that caught a glimpse of her told their parents immediately.
The entire village had come to their house. Her father didn’t fight; he just told Blair to stay by him.
The village people had been unaware of the demon that the man was harbering.
It took hours for the man to convince the people that his child and wife weren’t a harm to anyone, but he did it.
They still didn’t want to see the demon but they could accept the existence of it as long as they didn’t have reason to be suspicious. This relieved the man at first, he didn’t take into consideration that they could make reasons.
That was when Blair three.
It took time but somehow her father was able to talk his way into letting the half demon to attend school.
The young Blair who had hardly had any interaction with other children was beyond excited at the news. Her mother on the other hand wasn’t as thrilled as her daughter and husband.
On her first day her mothers worries were proven to be right.
They had tried to pull her out but Blair wouldn't budge, she wanted to stay in school even if she was being tormented.
One day when she was six she did it, she stood up for herself. The child that she had pushed off of her immediately started howling for his mother who was talking to the teacher a few feet away.
The women turned towards the noise and locked eyes on Blair. The woman charged over, pulled her son behind her by his arm and then harshly grabbed blair by her forearm. She continued to verbally abuse her until they heard something. It was Blair’s mother she had gasped at the frightening sight she was met with. Her daughter bawling while being yanked by her arm by a woman. In a state of pure instinct she calmly walked over. The women had let go of blair and stood up straight when she started to approach. The second she was in reach she slapped the women that had assaulted her daughter. Things quickly escalated into a small hair pulling scuffle between the two women.
Once out of her shocked state Blair ran to her mother to plead with her to stop. It took one look from Blair to convince her. She immediately understood the intensity of her actions. She backed up slowly before grabbing Blair and running home.
Humans, when they are scared they get angry, and a group of angry humans is the worst thing that can happen.
She hardly remembers it. What happened before, Her mother and father sent her running in a rush. Away from the burning house and the yelling people.
The humans had won that day. The man and his demon wife were dead, along with their daughter Blair, all that was left was fear, anger and grief.
She was running for days before someone stopped her.
It was a demon.
He took her in, raised her, gave her a name and memories.
Blair had died that day, but from the ash’s Trixine Plague was born.
