6 - Huh?!

Beep beep!

Ryan jolted out of bed; he shut off his alarm.

“Open Quest

Quest!

Quest: Defeat Myles Sterling (0/1).

Reward: Silver Card

Deadline: Tomorrow at 3:36 PM

Warning: Failure to complete this quest will result the termination of the system. All stats and skills will disappear.”

Ryan looked at the quest. There’s no way he’ll ever beat Myles. Ryan started to change for school. He slung his backpack onto his shoulder.

“Close Quest”

He walked towards school. He approached the school gates; he noticed that he gained some reputation for beating Joseph Smith due to the whispers from the nearby students. He entered the busy meddling hallways. He sat down in one of his classrooms. He noticed that Joseph was absent, probably due to his ass getting kicked in front of everyone. He looked at the door and noticed a familiar figure walking in. It was Jaelyn; Ryan’s heart started to thump. He looked down at the desk and started to fidget as she sat next to him. She took no notice of his presence.

The teacher walked in and started the lesson. Ryan yawned and started to doodle on his notebook. After minutes of the boring lecture. It finally ended; Ryan packed his things, slung his backpack onto his shoulder, and walked out. He walked through the students to reach his classes.

After a few classes. It was finally lunch. He walked towards the cafeteria until he froze when he heard the familiar voice.

“Hey. Wanna hangout during lunch?”

Myles was there, standing. Ryan internally panicked. He needed to finish his quest, or else all his skills would be gone and he would be bullied again. He knew he had to do this.

“Y-you’re an a-arsehole.”

Ryan said, his voice quivering slightly.

“Let’s let us f-f-fight.”

Myles stood there quietly. The other students heard this; they were intrigued by it.

“If you wish, follow me.”

Myles said. He started to walk outside as Ryan followed. His heart was racing, and his mind was having second thoughts. A group of students followed behind. They reached outside; Myles slung his backpack on the floor; he took out a cigarette and started smoking. Ryan raised his fist.

“You used Jab!”

Myles dodged out the way. He was unamused.

“You used Jab! You used Jab! You used Jab...”

Ryan kept punching, but nothing was connecting. His arms felt heavy as it was treading water. Ryan head snapped back, blood trickling from his nose.

“This is how you throw a jab.”

Myles said calmly. Ryan stumbled back, holding his nose; he didn’t even see his punch coming. Ryan’s eyes widen as he is hit three more times. Ryan fell backwards, blood spurred from his nose. It stung; it stung like hell. Ryan slowly stood up. He charged again, but once again, his head snapped back. He kept charging, the same outcome. He kept at it.

“I need to win.”

Ryan gritted his teeth. Myles stood there smoking; he was looking around as the group of students were looking at the fight.

“Why would he pick a fight? He won’t win.”

“This guy beat Joseph? He’s really weak.”

“Maybe Joseph wasn’t all that.”

Ryan clenched his jaw. He heard the students whispering those words. He looked back at Myles and charged. Next thing he knew, he was on the floor. He touched his cheek; it stung.

“You won’t win. You only know jabs if I’m correct.”

Myles said while taking a long drag from his cigarette. Ryan clenched his hands, his uniform dirtied from the dirt. Ryan stood up slowly; he charged once again.

“Again? Really, you won’t hit me.“

Ryan threw dirt at Myles eyes.

“You used Jab! You used Jab! You used Jab! You used Jab...”

Ryan started to punch; he punched like hell. He knew that it was now and never. His arm felt heavy; he felt dizzy, but he continued punching. He was gasping for air, but the adrenaline kept him going.

“Stop it, Ryan. You won”

Myles slumped onto the wall, a bit bruised from Ryan’s attacks. His cig on the floor crumbled. Ryan started breathing faster. He won? He actually won? Ryan’s mind started racing with questions. The group of students gasped loudly.

“He beat Myles Sterling?”

“He’s stronger than he looks.”

“Is he the new Top Dog then?”

Ryan wiped his nose, smudging the blood.

“Quest Complete!

Ryan glanced at the completed quest.

“Reveal.”

Ryan muttered.
