“New Quest!
Quest: Apologize to your Mom (0/1)
Reward: Bronze Card”
“A Bronze Card? What the hell is that?”
Ryan questioned, his eyes wandered at the quest.
“Apologize?”
Ryan mutters to himself, feeling guilty for yelling at his mom. He glances at the door. He has to either open it and apologize or not. Ryan scratches the back of his head and lets out a deep sigh. He slowly stands up; his body still hurts, but it’s fine. He walks closer and closer to the door, placing his hand on the doorknob. He stands there for a while, unsure of what to do. Finally, he twists the doorknob.
He walks into the living room and finds his mom sitting on the couch, watching TV. His heart pounds, but he knows he has to do this for the greater good.
“H-hey m-mom?”
Ryan’s voice trembles. His mom finally acknowledges his presence, looking a bit disappointed in his actions.
“Yes, Ryan?”
His mother replies in a stern voice. Ryan winces at her tone, knowing she is disappointed. He stands quietly for a bit.
“I’m sorry, Mom… for yelling at you like that. I just didn’t know what to do. Please forgive me…”

Ryan says in a shaky voice, expressing genuine sincerity. He looks at the floor as he fidgets nervously. His mom’s expression softens after hearing his apology, and she smiles warmly.
“Oh, Ryan. You know I can’t stay mad at you for long,” his mom says in a gentle tone. “But did you really fall?” she adds, still skeptical about his excuse.
“Yeah… sorry, I t-tripped and fell.”
Ryan grits his teeth, hoping his mom believes him. After all, he knows his mother is not stupid—
“If you say so, Ryan. Just don’t fall anymore.”
Ryan’s eyes widen. Did his mom really believe his poor excuse? He quickly composes himself and heads back to his room. He glances back at his mom.
“Thank you, Mom.”
Ryan doesn’t feel uneasy anymore. He opens the door and heads inside, plopping himself onto his bed. It feels good. He doesn’t feel like a jerk anymore.
Beep!
“Quest Complete!
Apologize to Your Mom (1/1)
Reward: Bronze Card!”
Ryan’s thoughts are suddenly interrupted by the system’s notification. A Bronze Card? He notices a card floating in front of him. It’s a brownish-colored card with intricate, otherworldly designs. He slowly touches it as it floats in front of him, and it ripples.
“What’s this? How do I even access it?”
Ryan thinks for a few seconds.
“Show?”
He questions. Nothing happens; the card continuously floats up and down slightly.
“That’s not it… then how do I access it?”
Ryan rubs his temples. This is infuriating—he got something cool but doesn’t even know how to use it. He lets out an annoyed, irritated sigh.
“Reveal?”
Ryan questions once again. His eyes widen as he sees the card illuminating.
“Bronze Car
Title: Jab!
Description: A boxing move.
Mastery: F (0/100)”
“A J-jab?”
Ryan’s mouth drops open. A jab? He can’t believe it. For simply apologizing to his mom, he knows how to throw a jab? He quickly stands up, but there’s a problem—how can he use it? Ryan sits back down. He got this card but doesn’t even know how to use it. It took him long enough to figure out how to reveal the card.
“Wait… did I automatically know how to use it?”
Ryan starts to think, his hand on his mouth. He decides he has to try. He quickly stands up again, raises his arms shakily, and takes a deep breath.
“You used Jab!”
He throws a weak and slow jab. He can’t believe it—he threw a jab. Sure, it was weak and slow, but it felt right. He looks at his clenched fist, shaking a bit. This system can grant him fighting abilities? He doesn’t need to learn them? This is so cool! He unclenches his hands and sits down, feeling all giddy and excited, his feet tapping on the floor.
Beep!
