Property Disclosures
“Why is finding a house so difficult in this city!’
“Between the cost of rent, housing shortages, and the things you desire for your new apartment, you are kind of working in a very narrow niche.”
“How can it be that narrow?”
“You want a skylight big enough to fly a homebuilt E-VTOL through, that’s also close to good Chinese. In Manhattan.”
Night Ranger and Luna Fuego talking about the formers house hunting issues.
A Few Days Later:
Lisa looked at her boss, thunking down a thick file, here is the report on Juan Hernadez’s house. Including all the disclosures, and a list of all the improvements I would recommend before it sells, and an appendix with the numbers for all the ecological departments you need as well as the DEA, and Lake Superior Tourist board.
Hannah blinked, looking Lisa over. While normally well put together, Lisa was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, with bandages scattered here and there over her body. She looked thinner than she had been when she left as well. What's more she also looked angry.
"God, Lisa, are you okay? I know it went south again; I really didn't expect it to, I swear." the pregnant woman said, struggling under the baby belly to get to her feet.
“I spent three days trapped in an underwater super lair with my expert team. We got attacked by vicious lizards, small ostrich like birds, a Caiman, a spliced dinosaur, and had a face to face with the Lake Superior Dragon. I nearly died in a death trap set to kill a black cape Tailor who was apparently a thirsty bitch, and I had no coffee and no change of clothes for three days!”
"Holy shit. Okay, yeah, that is big. I swear, I had no idea honey! I'm glad you hired some experts to help you." She finally managed to stand and came around, hesitating to hug the other woman due to her injuries. She glanced down at the disclosures and groaned. "And there's asbestos too!" she groaned, reading the top page.
“Yeah, just in the primary house. I didn’t see any in the Lair.” Lisa hugged her back then sat down gingerly. “Damn lizard bites. Lisa took a deep breath willing herself to calm down. As terrible and weirdy wonderful as her adventure had been it wasn’t really Hannah’s fault… mostly. And her boss had let her hire the team that had become her friends and had saved her life. “The house is beautiful; the right buyer will love it. The house, the underwater dome, and the jungle.”
“Oh my.”
“Yeah. On the bright side I’ve got a new pet.” she opened her phone “This is Davy, if you scan though you can see pictures of the underwater habitat.”
“Is…that a miniature Dragon?”
“Yep, near as we can tell he’s the only offspring of the Lake Superior Dragon. Carl got this wild video. He put a Go Pro on Davy’s back before he went swimming in one of the jungle lakes, and you can hear them crooning to each other. It’s pretty cool”
“And it’s okay to keep him?”
“Who’s going to tell him he can’t keep ME. The department of conservation, and the local college just asked that I forward all his vet reports to them. No one wanting to piss off the baby lightning Kaiju.
“Okay…. that makes sense. Hanna began going through the photos of the dome. Lisa and Carl had had fun pulling stills from the cameras for her to show her boss.
"Oh, my, that is amazing. Very retro high tech. And still all intact? After all this time? Someone paid to build well. I approve." Hannah paused. "Is the lizard you have on a leash breathing lightning?"
Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.
“Yep., like I said, no one wanted to piss of the baby lightning Kaiju.”
Hannah came across a short video. "And did that lizard throw an exploding tail?" That’s when reality struck the other travel agent, she looked at Lisa, her face a bit pale. "Oh god, it's full of splicer beasts, isn't it." Lisa had been so busy between the hospital and various interviews with different state departments, she’d only been able to give Hannah the briefest explanation of what had happened.
"If it helps, once we get all... this... straight and find a buyer, you're the one getting the agent on record commission! That' should be a really healthy commission." The owner of the agency promised.
“Not as many splicer beasts as you’d think their mostly harmless, assuming they don’t have giant teeth or claws in their original form. there are the cocaine addicted Rhea, that’s the big birds, yellow hallucinogenic frogs, and the murder geckos. Most of the wildlife seems natural, and there are a lot of fruit trees. We will want to see if there are more murder geckos.”
"Murder Geckos are bad, but Fruit trees sound good; those are a plus on the listing. And the jungle looks healthy. Needs better lighting though." She mused. "Going to have to find specialized contractors for this. The Green Bay Restorers perhaps? They are one of the better super remediation teams in the region."
Lisa rolled her eyes, not surprised at her boss’s business track mind. “Yeah, their number is in the appendix. There isn’t as much to fix as I was afraid of. Other than asbestos, one of the transit tunnels needs repaired, and we need to run a cable to get Wi-Fi though the base, update the breaker boxes, and put a safety rail around the conversation pit.”
"Oh, damn, one of those seventies death pits, huh?”
“Among others.”
“What?”
Lisa waved her off.
Hannah grabbed a pad and made some notes, glancing over some of the disclosures. "And a murder. Great. Wait, you were in the same death trap that killed a villain? Your experts were very good! Perhaps in the future we can just hire them to look at any questionable properties for us. I’d feel better if all you had to do was supervise. From a safe distance."
“I would highly recommend it. They kept me alive; they also do YouTube. Carl is cutting together footage from the trip for their channel.”
"I'll have to watch it. I'm sorry you got so beat up. I'm going to guess you need a few days off, and certainly understand. I think you demanded a vacation, and all things considered, you deserve it."
“Yeah, I do need it, I have antibiotics cream for all the gecko bites, and I have to go to Chicago to take Davy to a vet that specializes in both reptiles and splicer pets.”
"I suppose there would have to be specialists in that." Hannah nodded. "I'll cover your hotel in Chicago too. Someplace nice. I owe you that much, at least."
“I appreciate it I’ve already got an appointment; I’m going with Emilia and Ryan they have the splicer gecko that also needs looking at, that’s Juicy she’s the lizard with the exploding tails.”
"Then I'll get a suite with a couple of bedrooms for you. Seriously, I don't want you to set the office on fire, and I know this was a disaster."
“I told you the microwave malfunctioned.” Lisa grumbled. “I mostly am over the rage, honestly. Davy helped with that. Also expect to get more listings and contacts from the super community, Cassidy, the wife of one the explorers is a Tailor, and she’s been looking for someone to oversee real estate related projects for her.”
"And she's interested in the agency?"
“Yes, Tailors are the fixers of the super community, and she gets clients looking for homes or bases in spite of that not being her specialty. She wants us to handle that for her.”
"Well, I don't mind adding to our client list. Um... I might need you to handle a lot of that as you, well, are the experienced one." Hanna gave her a smile that was part pleading grimace.
“Yeah. I already saw that coming. Lisa said dryly. “It’s fine, I already figured my life is now ‘enhanced’ adjacent.” she said wryly. “I’m just going to need to work on getting a multi-state license, since it’s going to involve travel, from what she suggested.”
"And I'll have to plan for that in the budget, but the money that could come in is substantial. Well, bad trip or not, I can safely say it's going to end up being a big win for us."
“Yeah,” Lisa leaned back. “I think so too, we just have to figure out how to make sure it’s worth the danger pay! You will be paying me danger pay.”
"Yes. That is true. You said she's a Tailor?" Hannah looked in the distance, trying to figure out how to make this all work, half zoned out in the same expression she got before buying the Lizard house.
Again, Lisa rolled her eyes. “Yes, she is a public Tailor, works mostly in fashion and with maskless hero’s
"I didn't even know that was a thing. How did I not know that?"
“Neither of us are really dialed into the mask crowd.” Lisa said “something that is probably changing, and soon. Have you had any nibbles on the house? I don’t know if you put anything out yet.”
"I hadn’t, but someone saw the sign at the end of the road, so actually yes, someone is curious about seeing it once we open it up for potential buyers. He's not aware of the other elements of course. A retiring professor, I think it was."
“I’ll get a pre-Reno video tour of the property to you, before I go on vacation so you can start shopping the property out. Then we can focus on it when we get back.” There was enough footage that she could borrow some and cut it into a short video of different chambers.
"Sounds good. I'll get the ball started with this paperwork, and organizing a contract with the reno crew."
