Jake lay with Alley sweaty and in total bliss. Alley looked up at him and asked, “What made up your mind?” Jake questioned, “What do you mean?” She replied, “You said you loved me, what clinched it for you?” Jake smiled and said, “You came for me and I was in a tight spot. More than that though back in the library when bullets were flying, you bravely risked yourself without hesitation to get to me. I'm sure you could have just created a new body if you got hurt, but it still took guts to ignore the danger to yourself.
Alley coughed, “Um well I actually cannot create another body. What you see is what you get. Jake started, “What do you mean?!” Alley sheepishly replied, “I am no longer in the computer system. I still have a link to it with an implant, but in all other ways I am as human as the next girl.” Jake stared disbelievingly, “But why?” She replied, “I wanted it this way. I wanted to be real. So when I created this body and downloaded it myself all other copies were deleted. In a sense, I died and was reborn as a human. I still have a link to the computer systems but I am free of them.”
Jake pondered that for a second, “So you mean to say when you charged into the library you could have been killed permanently?! You must never do that again, I could have lost you forever!” She shook her head, “Jake, I know, but I was not thinking at that moment. All I knew was you were in danger all because I ran out of energy. I couldn't come back to get you.”
Jake smiled at her and said, “That makes what you did all that more courageous, but in the future you must trust me to take care of myself. If you died there I would be devastated. Please don't do that to me.” He kissed her and she replied, “I promise, but you must promise me too. Please don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. I too would be devastated if something happened to you.” Jake's stomach growled and he said, “How about we get a shower and a meal and we can go see what's going on with the others.”
Alley smiled, “That's a great idea, but I already talked to Vicky and got an update. Looks like complaining stopped once our guests were all shown to the quarters.” Jake smiled back, “That's good news, but I would still like to touch base with Pete and Wiz.” Alley laughed and said, “Well we better get dressed first.”

A little later Alley said, “You go ahead and see your friends, I have some work to do around here. I'll have Vicky make you a link so we can keep in touch. All you have to do is think of it and I will be able to talk to you remotely. In his head, Jake heard Alley say, “Can you hear me now?” Jake thought back, “Yes, that is amazing, but how?” Alley thought back, “That's easy, you already have nanites in your head; so they can connect with mine.” he replied, Huh, that's convenient. Well, I'm off to see the wizard.” Jake kissed Alley goodbye and left their apartment.
Jake called out, “Vicky, can you direct me to the location of Wiz?” Vicky replied, “Affirmative.” and a glowing trail led him to a lab across the facility. Jake walked into a room where he saw Wiz sitting engrossed in front of a computer monitor.
Jake greeted Wiz who jumped in his seat. “Oh, Hi Jake. You scared the daylights out of me. Have you seen this? This device can display massive amounts of information, almost anything you could ever want to know is in here.” Jake took a look and nodded, “While I haven't seen this one yet I am familiar with similar devices.”
Wiz looked at Jake, “Where exactly are you from?” Jake replied well it's a bit much but to make it short I am from the distant past. I was taken from there and woke up here. All of this technology is commonplace in my time.” Wiz looked shocked, “So my theories were true? There was a more advanced civilization here before?” Jake replied, “Yes, and that is where I am from.” Wiz laughed, “Well that makes sense. I had thought maybe you fell from the sky.” Jake gave him a questioning look.” Wiz asked, “Wait are they people from the sky?” Jake responded, “I don't know what they are exactly, but they are being from beyond the sky, and they are heading this way. That is why I was brought here and also one of the reasons I brought you here. It would seem these beings are hostels. What we need from you is to go through all the information you can and come up with ideas we can use to fight off the hostile force. The very world could be saved by your efforts.”
Wiz blanched, “Okay I understand. I will do what I can.” “Good.” Jake replied, “I also need to speak with Pete about our more immediate problem. We will need to form a resistance and he knows people who are dissatisfied with the way things are in the Kingdom. Keep up the good work and just speak out loud to Vicky if you need anything.”
Wiz asked, “Vicky?” a disembodied voice answered back, “Yes engineer Wiz, how may I be of assistance?” Wiz smiled, “Well that's grand. Vicky, please display my information on building guns! With that Jake left Wiz to his work.
