A few days later. And I was summoned. To a meeting room. Elsewhere in the Pokémon Center. The room was small. But Cozy. In the room. Was Nanu. He looked bored. And he was playing with What looked to be a wooden mallet and a ball attached to a string. “Come in and sit down," he said. “We're still waiting for another.”
“Who are we waiting for?” I ask in reply.
“The one who's going to be teaching you about Pokémon training.” Nanu answered slowly.
“Who are they?” I asked. “Are they any good at teaching?”
“Her name is Misaki Jada. She's a recent promotion to Pokémon Master from Ace Trainer... and her grandmother is the Tutor for Alola.” Nanu replies again, still playing with his mallet.
“The tutor? You make it sound like a position. How important is it?” My curiosity picqued.
“Each region has someone whose job it is to teach elite Pokémon the more difficult moves or to catalogue how each move is taught. Not everyone has the time to teach their Pokémon how to learn the more difficult or heavliy regulated moves like Draco Meteor or Blast Burn. The common trainers can pay a tutor or pay for a technical machine, or TM as there referred to, to teach a move to their Pokémon. The one in charge of doing so for Veteran, Ace, Master, Elite, and Champion class trainers is known as the Move Tutor. So yes, it is a title. I guess we missed giving you that book.” Nanu explains.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
"I might have not gotten to it yet." I apologize. "I was a little more focused on trying to come up with ways to convince you to let me pick my starter Pokémon."
"That will be entirely upon your new mentor. It is Tradition for the one responsible for your training, teacher, sponsor, or parent, to gift you your first Pokémon. Speaking of-" Nanu gets up and walks to the door, with a folder in hand, and opens it, revealing a young woman with short brown hair, in what appears to be a blue uniform, looking slightly panicked.
"Kahuna Nanu! I-I-I'm sorry for being so late! My Mismagius-" she stuttered out in clear panic.
"Ah, Misaki Jada, congratulations on your promotion to Master rank. Here's the paperwork." Nanu states with a sinister grin. "Wretched stuff that. Anyway, meet your new apprentice, Nicholas Frost. The paperwork for that is there too, make sure to fill it out. I'll leave you two alone to get things started, bye." He speaks in a rush and disappears just as fast.
"Wha- Promotion!?! Apprentice!?! B-b-but Kahuna! Ah... he's gone..." as she collapses to her knees, folder forgotten in her hands, she turns to look at me with dead brown eyes and mutters "Maybe I should have asked for a Lucky Chant instead of Helping Hand..."
