"I agree that it was a stupid thing to do without telling or waiting for you guys to be there if something went wrong. It's just that I'm not used to be in a team anymore, sorry it will take me a bit of time to get used to teamwork again, but I was pretty sure that this would work, as I said, I have a gut feeling about this procedure and if there is one thing that I trust, it's my gut feelings."
Joe got up and cleared everything from the table. "Ok, let's do this."
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Are you sure you can do this?"
"Yes, it will just take me ten minutes to cut the groove in the prosthesis then we can start. Let's go through this."
He took a deep breath and started placing everything that they will be using on the table in order of their usage, after making sure everything was in order he turned back to Joe.
"I'm going to cut the groove then I'm going to mark on your arm where we will do the cut. Then Sher will
"Sher will use <4Dscan> to see where the arteries are to use the tourniquet to tie off the blood flow from there we will speed up a bit. I will do the cut, exposing the ends of the radius and the ulna, while Sher uses her scan to check everything, right after the cut Sher will
"I will cover the inside of the prosthesis with the glue and then slot your arm in the prosthesis making sure that the two arm bones slot into the holes I made for them and then glue the strip of flesh into the groove that was cut for it, then I use
"Ok, I understand."
Louie took the mana blade and cut the groove in the prosthesis before cleaning up and asked Sher to use
"Ok, remove your shirt and get on the table. We are going to do two or three practice runs just to make sure that we have everything and to get the flow right so everything runs smooth, are you ready?"
They nodded and Louie started talking them through the procedure, after they did two practice runs Louie went straight into the surgery without giving them any time to think, the whole procedure took just over ten minutes of which cutting Joe's arm and sealing the wound with the glue took the longest.
Sher was feeling faint and looking pale but she held up her part and before she could really think about what they were doing the surgery was done and Louie used
Sher quickly removed the tourniquet and as she stepped back she started casting
They all took a step back waiting for Joe to get up from the table and try to use his arm.
The arm that looked like he had plunged it into a bucket of black paint with faint traces of red and brown running through it.
Joe sat up on the table and lifted his right arm towards his face and slowly started moving his wrist and hand slowly closing and opening it.
"It works, it feels strange, but it works, there are feeling in my hand, but it feels like I'm wearing a thick glove, but it works! I have a right hand again!"
Louie punched the air. "Yes, Hotdamn it worked!"
They looked at Louie in shock.
"What? I told you that I was sure it would work, well not a hundred per cent but my gut was sure it would work and it has never led me wrong, and it was right, it worked."
Sher just shook her head as she walked up on Joe and used <4Dscan> focusing on his arm.
After a couple of seconds, his info appeared in the left of her vision.
She immediately noticed that the debuff
"Well, it seems to have work. Your scan shows that you are no longer suffering from a debuff."
Louie started cleaning up and putting everything away. "I think that we should take tomorrow off, Joe can work and practice to get used to his new arm while I will make you guys some armour."
"We took care of just over a quarter of the golems in one day and we started late, if we take tomorrow off then we can do the other in two . . three days on the most, and we can spend one day studying the Boss and work on a strategy to take him out. That is just over five days and that means that only one day has passed outside."
"Fixing your arm has pushed my spell
"I also see that our monster kill quest has gone up to 028/103 and that means that the twin-fucked Gemini counted as two. I think that all three of us will be at least level 10 when we are done with this Dungeon, one of the strange things that I noticed was that each of us got the same amount of experience when we killed a golem and that I like. The amount of experience isn't measured by participation in the fights."
Sher had gone around and sanitised the whole room before she joined them at the table.
"The last couple of hours was stressful but the day on a whole was good, I levelled up to level 8 and my Mana Manipulation went up 15%, Ranged 20%, Running 10%, Imbue 25%, Heal flesh 10% and sanitise has gone up a whole two levels. Did you level up?"
Louie shook his head.
"No. I calculated that I might reach level 10 at the end of the dungeon. I think you two might also reach 10. Dungeons are good for levelling up."
Joe was still moving his wrist and fingers as he spoke up. "I have also levelled up to eight nearly nine and Gallowglass went up 1 level, Shields 30% Bash 25%, Slash 15%, and Endurance 20%."
Joe took a deep breath.
"So I have been thinking of trying to persuade the sarge in creating a starter town or maybe just a fortified barracks across the bridge from the Dungeon entrance, then they can send parties in to clear it now and then and in doing so they would raise the levels of those to level ten at lease."
"That is a good idea, if we can get this Dungeon done in four more days then I will stay three days to help with the start of creating the Fort, maybe levelling the ground and putting up a wall, but after that, I must leave."
"Where are you going? We can use somebody with your spell."
"I don't know, I just have this urge to get out of here and head south, that means I must get through the mountain and since this is now a Dungeon, it depends if the exit of this Dungeon is on the other side or back on this side."
"If it is back here then I will have to follow the old road and see where my gut tells me to go when I reach Paarl or Wellington if I remember correctly the road is closer to Wellington but higher where it comes out of the mountain pass."
Sher and Joe both looked at him curiously.
"What urge?" Louie shrugged.
"I think it's something to do with my Class." He opened his status page and clicked on class and right-clicked while thinking of sharing the BB with them.
Class: Seeker.
A seeker is someone who is always looking for more, more knowledge, more power, more strength and different ways to reach their goals, seekers strive to know more to the point where they become restless and strive for exploration, they are defined by their curiosity. Pity those that try to impede a seeker in his\her search.
"But it's more than that, I got this feeling that there is something or someone that I must find, something important. I just don't know what or who, I have no family left and the only real friends before this was the J's and they were as tough as nails."
He smiled. "I pity the fool that messes with them." Throwing a bit of BA in to lighten the mood.
He took out the Shop tablet. "Joe, have you seen anything in the shop about spells or skills that we can buy?"
"No, but I haven't been through the whole catalogue."
Louie got up and bought another tablet from the vendor and handed it to Sher.
"I suggest that we go through it from front to back and make a list of everything we will need or want. I think that the two of you should also look for some armour that I can modify to fit your fighting style. Joe I'm going to use that axehead of yours to make you a war axe if that's ok with you?"
Louie took out a couple of the heaviest weapons that they took from the golems.
"Joe, try these out I'm looking for the heaviest weapon that you can swing comfortably so I can judge how heavy to make the axe."
"Ok, but it's just a lumber axe how heavy can you make it?"
Louie laughed and took a pen and paper he got from a calligraphy set and started drawing what he had in mind.
"I'm thinking of making some engraving on the head, you got anything in mind?"
Joe looked at the drawing. "Damn Louie, that's not my axe. That look like something out of Skyrim. You sure you can make it?"
"Yes I don't have a lot of control over
This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
Louie placed the axehead next to the drawing and took out some other golem pieces and some small pieces of bone
He went to the vendor and bought the amulet that he saw last time he browsed through there.
"Are you happy with the way it will look?"
"It looks great, can you do some edging of fire on the blade?"
"Not fire, but lightning will be no problem."
"I'm going to do this here, but if you guys can get your armour then I will do that outside."
Louie got out his engraving pen and pot of glue.
He placed the head on the drawing and slowly start cutting the pieces of metal that he added to the head.
He also took one of the craziest looking axes that he got from the golems and cut of the blade and hollowed it out so the axe from joe will fit into it snugly.
When he was satisfied he glued the two pieces together. He used the haft from the decapitated axe to shape and fit it to the axehead, then he took the amulet and after marking it he cut the shape on the cheek and fitted it.
Then he took one of the spikes that they got from the lightning mage and after some careful cutting on the axehead he fitted it to the butt as a counterweight.
He took the small lizard skull and cut it away so it will fit the butt under the spike. Everything was tight and secure.
He moved the axe closer and took the lowest setting on the engraving pen and started cutting an image on the other cheek of the blade.
When he was finished he stood back.
"Damn," he picked up the axe
Shango war axe War axe of lightning storm.
War axe made by Armourer Louie by magically crafting an axe with lightning aspect.
One-handed war axe Speed: fast
Damage:17 + strength + agility + constitution.
Hit has a 25% chance of inflicting lightning damage
Joe stood stunned looking with wonder at the axe.
"Damn, Louie, this axe is magnificent, but why Shango?"
Louie just shrugged.
"I don't name the stuff." He concentrated on the name Shango in the
Shango the god of thunder and lightning who is one of the popular worldwide acclaimed legends from West Africa. He is also referred to as Chango or Xango
"Hmm, ha ha ha, Thor's African brother. Thanks, bro, this is much more than I was expecting."
After they had bought the armour that they wanted Louie explained what he had done with the amulet on Joe's axe and again how the armband that he used on himself still works, they got a faraway look before they went back to the vendor and started looking for accessories to incorporate into their armours
After they had done their shopping they thought it would be best to have supper before Louie started working on the armours.
Searching through the food section of the catalogue Sher found a fondue that she wanted to try.
"Hey guys, I got us something for supper."
Louie placed the long fork with a piece of fruit in the bowl of melted chocolate.
It's been years since I had nice chocolate fondue.
"Damn I can't believe that the vendor sells chocolate fondue with a self-heating bowl."
He spears another piece of fruit. Hmm, looks like a banana but taste just a bit different, all the fruit taste a bit strange, not bad just . . . exotic. This is the best damn chocolate I have ever tasted, I wonder if the vendor sells the chocolate separately.
"Damn this is like a liquid orgasm in my mouth."
Joe and Louie choked on their pieces of fruit and gave Sher a shocked look.
She blushed as she realized what she had just said.
"Shit that wasn't what I meant, I didn't mean it like that."
Joe laughed. "I know what you meant. This is good chocolate, in fact, this is the best I ever had."
"I know." Louie stuffed the big piece of chocolate-covered fruit in his mouth and closed his eyes as he started chewing.
"Hmmm, heavenly." His mood turned sour as he thought how much Cindy would have loved this chocolate. Suddenly the chocolate tastes like ash in his mouth.
He sighed. "I'm done."
He pushed his plate of fruit over to the others and got up from the counter and moved over to the table where they had placed their armour so he could check it out.
Joe finished up next and grabbed his axe and shield and move towards the door. "I'm going to exercise for a bit outside, got to get used to the new hand."
Joe had just left the room when he rushed back. "Shit Louie, you got to get out here, there is a golem outside!"
Sher dropped the last of her food on the counter as she grabbed her slingshot and rushed to the door with Louie. Outside the restroom, they were greeted with a strange sight.
Just outside the yellow line, marking the safezone, was the golem dog laying on the ground chewing on what looked like a piece of the miniboss Gemini's leg.
When Joe moved to face the Dog with his shield raised and his axe ready, Louie stopped him.
"What? It's a golem!"
"Yes, but why is it here? I think this is like the beetle. That beetle was dumb as shit because I think inside, it thought it was still a beetle. And I think the same with the other golems, deep down they act like humans because the lifeforce used was human. Same here, I think that this was somebody's dog and now it is lost."
Louie crouched down and moved towards the chewing Golem-dog, the only thing separating them was the thin shield that covered the safe zone.
As if it could sense him the dog stopped chewing the leg and turned its head towards the shield.
Joe shook his head. "So why is it here?
Louie looked the dog in the eyes even though it couldn't see or smell them, somehow it knew that Louie was there.
"It's a dog, and it's lonely." He stood up and walked a dozen steps away before he crossed the barrier.
Joe swore and came closer with his axe ready to jump out and attack the golem if needed.
The Golem Dog was laying on its stomach with its head on its paws watching Louie as he squatted a couple of meters away, facing it.
Slowly he reached into his inventory and remove another steel bar, immediately he saw its eyes snap to the bar like a magnet to metal, he placed it on the floor in front of him and slowly moved away
It moved its chew toy to one side and slowly stood up, fuck it's big.
Louie followed its lead but stopped as it slowly inched its way towards the metal bar.
It gave the bar a sniff and a lick, suddenly its tail began wagging and it took a bite out of the bar.
Bloody hell it just took a bite out of a solid bar of steel like it's a piece of steak.
It finished its meal and looked at Louie while excitedly wagging its tail and giving small hops.
Reaching into his inventory again he noticed that there were four more steel bars, but they belonged to his team so he took out an iron bar and held it out to the dog.
It came forward and sniffed the iron and gave him a look as if to say. WTF bro.
He had always had good relations with some animals, especially dogs and he always projected what he meant to the animal as he talked to it.
"Yea, I know, boy." He had seen that it is a boy the first time he fed it a steel bar during the fight with Gemini. "It's not as good as steel, but it's this or eating that." He nodded in the direction of the Golem leg.
It took the bar and bumped its head against Louie's leg asking for a scratch. Loo reached out and scratched it behind the ear.
Congratulations You are the 9th person in this Gaea system to bond a System generated pet, you may now name it.
Be aware that if you mistreat your pet it may sever the bond and only a leg or arm if you are lucky.
Well, I'll be damned. Louie started laughing as he went and inventoried the chewtoy and moved through the shield while holding his hand on the plates between its shoulders.
Joe and Sher retreated behind his shield. "What the fuck Louie! You can't bring that thing in here!"
He stopped and talked to the dog as he projected that they are friends and surprisingly got a feeling 'packmates, family' from the Dog.
"Yea packmates" it started walking towards them.
"Don't move, I think it wants to smell you."
"You think!" Joe's voice was rising dangerously high.
"Relax animals can smell fear."
Louie had a smile on his face as he watched the dog sniffed their crotches.
Sher gave a small shriek as it jammed its nose in her privates before it turned around and came back to Louie.
“Bloody hell, I think I need new underpants.”
Sher was literally hanging on Joe's shoulder. "What just happened? Why didn't the golem attack us?"
Joe shook his head. "The crazy fucker bonded a golem dog as a bloody pet."
Louie laughed. “Look at the quest totals. <028/102> it went from hundred and three to hundred and two, so the System doesn't see it as a Dungeonspawn anymore.”
Joe helped Sher inside as he started to explain to her about System bonding pets.
Louie took the workbench out of his inventory before giving Dog his chewtoy again.
Damn, I can't keep calling it Dog. Hmm, rover? Nope . . . tank? Nope. BOB yip definitely BOB. God of all dogs.
Louie silently laughed as he thought of the Dog as BOB.
He started laughing out loud and BOB gave him a puzzled look as if he was reconsidering his bond to this mad man, but then remembered that its previous owner was much crazier, before it went back to its chewtoy.
He arranged the armours with all the accessories together before going to the door and calling his team to come to make sure that everything is ready.
They came out and warily kept an eye on the Dog just to make sure he doesn't attack them.
He had them each equips their armour and do a bit of stretching before he used his engraving pen-manablade on the dozens of golem limbs that are spread over the workbench.
He would cut a piece from the limb hollow it out and fit it to the armour pants and boots and let them move around.
Jumping, squatting and even rolling. If the piece fits perfectly he would then glue it to the armour and move on to the next pieces.
He took a page from the Chinese and cut and glue hides that he had from the Ratkin loot till he had what looked like the traditional Chinese long shirt that came to the knees.
He glued thin metal strips to Sher's lower part of the shirt and chainmail with a thin chest piece on top and long gloves covered with chainmail that comes to her shoulder and a thin steel helm and a solid one-piece eyeless metal mask that covered her whole face.
Most of her talismans were for speed and accuracy but she had also found a talisman at the vendor that he was to incorporate on the inside of the mask
Eye of the peeper This talisman cast a one-way transparent effect on any object up to 30centemeters thick for a 2hour duration when imbued with mana
"Damn this is so badass." Joe just shook his head, "Why didn't I think of this?"
"It's nice but it will only work if you are used to using mana, imagine that you forget to imbue or forget to ask somebody to imbue the mask and the effect wears off during a fight and you are suddenly blind."
With Joe's armour, he did the same except he went more of a tank direction, heavier armour pieces on the chest, axe arm and helm and incorporated talismans that absorbed damage.
It took nearly 8hours for him to finish adding all the pieces to both the armours and use.
