Well… It looks like they took her security very seriously.
The demon princess was barely wearing anything other than a fur sports bra and loincloth. Her muscles were extremely tense as they struggled against the many chains directly attached to her bones. The floor of her ‘display podium’ had an inscription of a pentagram that glowed neon purple etched onto it. The demon princess whipped her head up to look at us the moment I took a step inside. Without saying a word, she tried jumping at us, and might’ve actually broken through a few of the chains if the inscription didn’t brighten and make her go back down somehow.
“Don’t worry. We’re here to free you.” I said, only to see the demon chuckle to herself.
“Really now? Go on then. Break these chains.” She said. I could feel the nano-chatte’s uneasiness. I couldn’t exactly stop and ask the nano-chatte about what made her so dangerous, but even if she was, we’d free her anyway and beat her up until she understood how to not kill people for fun. I moved my hand forwards and watched as the nano-chatte moulded my hand into a gun for the first time in forever. I precisely aimed at one of its chains and shot.
One of my abilities, which caused a tenth of my bullets to blow up on impact, decided to make its first appearance by blowing up all the chains in one shot, and letting the demon rise. She dusted herself off, and inspected the still very attached other half of the chains. She tried pulling one out and stopped herself after she began bleeding.
“Well, thank you human, but goodbye.” I immediately felt the shockwave of the sound barrier being broken, and then saw her fist already in my gut as I began flying. I crashed straight into another building, where its resident was eating dinner before seeing me.
“Sorry pal. Hope you got insurance.” I said as the nano-machines reinflated my flattened self while I peeled myself off the wall just in time to see her jump up to the hole in the wall.
“You survived? Ha! You might make for a good pet.” She pinned me to the wall with a single arm.
“Sorry, I’m already being blackmailed by someone.” I formed a bunch of bullets in my hands and thunder clapped her with them, hoping even one of them would explode, and so they did. Two of the bullets in my right hand exploded, causing her to fly off into a store over on the next street. I looked outside to follow her, and already saw a group of knights almost indistinct from the golden ones, except for their colour scheme. These were red and black just like the salesman.
“We aren’t done here!” The demon jumped up and grabbed me by the neck as we crashed through the roof. The nano-chatte grew wings for me as I tried to hit her with the explosion bullet slap again to gain some distance. She already adapted to the move and grabbed my hand, letting the bullet tumble to the floor before I tried to use my ‘Bullet Hell’ ability to no effect thanks to the cooldown.
My lord and saviour Sam decided to actually be useful and shoot the demon with a projectile of light, making her fall to the roof while I floated above reading up several machine guns to chip away at her while I figured out a better plan. I applied the holy attribute to the bullets and began my barrage as she got up. The storm of bullets and explosions stopped after a couple seconds as the nano-chatte ran out of matter to convert into bullets.
“Ian! Lure her down!” Anna screamed at me. The demon heard her as she got up from the bombardment with several bruises all over her body. She jumped through whatever remained of the roof and tried punching Anna, only to have her shot blocked as Anna drew her sword. Anna was still pushed back as her feet dug into the stone road, and was sent back flying into another building by a punch from the demon. Sam, never one to miss a good opportunity and shot out another beam of pure light to damage and distract the demon.
She turned and at him only to be blocked by Chrisitan who held her down for a couple seconds before he was overpower and flipped away. In the brief window where Christian was in the air, Anna slashed the demon from the back left, sending her flying at a building near me. I zipped down to grab her head and drag her along the buildings to scrape and damage her head. She grabbed my arm and threw me down before stopping herself. The scarlet knights caught me before I could impact the ground.
“Adventurer. What in the name of god made you think releasing her was a good idea?” The captain of the knights was far leaner than the golden knight captain. He had no helmet, a cape, and an overall just smaller armour to fit his smaller physique. It was pretty safe to say this man was also a reincarnator.
“Stop arguing and start fighting.” I quickly applied unchange to myself and let the nano-chatte peel away as the demon punched me. I could feel the punch making my organs move inside, but I pretended not to as I kept walking forward.
“Oh! This one’s actually durable and smells like home. I’m definitely keeping you.” The captain actually did something and attacked the demon from the side with a slash, but she caught the blade with her hand. The demon tried to punch him away, but I let the nano-chatte turn my back into a rocket booster to launch me forward and to drag the demon along with me. We barreled through room after room until we hit the city walls. A chunk the size of a six story building detached itself from the wall and was picked up by the demon, who pushed me away with one mighty kick and brought the chunk down to crush me.
I let the nano-chatte envelope me once more as we both struggled to not get turned into a pancake by the impact. Glass shattered from the impact wave as the wall broke apart only for the remaining big piece to get pushed forward by the demon. Even as the nano-chatte used its boosters and my aura to slow down the pillar, it still moved forward relatively fast. I looked behind to see Chrisitian charging in to help me, so I stopped the rocket boosters just in time for him to push against me and the rock to finally begin turning the tide.

As we pushed the rock back a red light struck the demoness. The captain had stabbed the demon with his sword right as he landed. Her throat gushed out a trickle of blood as she moved her neck to throw him into a wall and threw the rock away. Anna dropped down beside us as the demon princess approached me slowly.
“We just have to hold her off until Sam’s ultimate attack or whatever he calls it is ready.” Considering Sam levelled up at least twice from all the skeleton-wraiths he killed, it should be strong enough to make her back down, or to damage her to the point where we can make her back down.
“You are really intriguing. Normal adventurers wouldn’t be crafty enough to beat me. They normally just slash at me repeatedly or use their strongest move until they realise I’m not damaged. You three are actually making me try, even if you’re also not damaging me.” She was respectfully comparing us to cockroaches. Cockroaches are hard to kill, and make us try hard to fully exterminate them, but a fighter wouldn’t consider fighting a cockroach to be a proper battle. Before we started again, she took the sword out of the neck and threw it back only for it to be caught by the captain who slashes at her again in the same way as he did before to predictable results. “See?” She said as she caught the blade again.
“Damned demon! Let go of my sword and engage in a proper brawl!” The demoness rolled her eyes and threw him away with one swift motion. Anna saw her opportunity and went to stab the demon princess while the sharp part of her sword pointed upwards. When the demon went to grab the sword to stop it and slashed herself on the sharp edge. She yanked her hand away only to be stabbed in the stomach as Anna charged forward.
The demoness smiled as Christian pushed Anna and her sword away before the demon could punch her, and tanked the damage himself. I reformed my hands into shotguns and circled the demon, peppering her from the back everytime Chrisitian or Anna clashed with her. After Christian got punched away and slipped up, he careened into a wall just in time for the scarlet captain to do his light magic teleport thing and stab the demoness in the chest.
He was about to get thrown away again, but he lit up and kept teleporting around the demoness, stabbing her everywhere before being grabbed. I immediately activated the holy aura in hopes it would make my magic power better and fired off five loaded shots from each of my arms. Several of the pellets exploded and launched the demon away and gave the captain enough time to teleport himself away.
“Thanks. The knights should be able to keep her at bay for a couple minutes. What’s the game plan–” The captain was interrupted as the demon princess was already jumping back while carrying an entire building to throw at us.
“Explain it to him while I distract her.” I flew straight at her and threw the bullets I would usually thunderclap her with instead. An explosion hit her leg and made tumble lose grip of the building and fall separately. I grabbed onto it and let the nano-chatte shoot off a bit of itself to consume the roof for more material to hold up the building with.
I strained the wings and rocket boosters to their limits, using my own body as fuel for them. The bit of the nano-chatte slithered down and created a parachute large enough to slow down the building just as Sam shot his ultimate attack. The demon burnt under the ultimate holy light that Sam commanded. She kept burning and burning,.. But stayed upright?
“HAHAHAHA! YES! Hit me with all you got, puny humans!” She yelled maniacally as the attack ended. She was mildly burnt, but not even remotely close to dead or unconscious.
“Nano-chatte, grab the people from the building, I’m dropping the building on her.” The nano-chatte did as I told it to, and I flipped the building with the last strength I had just as the nano-chatte’s drones exited the buildings while carrying the people inside. I pushed it down and watched as the three floors collapsed in on themselves. I flew right to Sam as Anna, Christian, the captain, and his guards all prepared to distract her for a little while longer.
“Sam! Listen to me. Ready up your attack and I’ll empower you.” Sam looked at me, confused.
“Empower me? How?” I place my hands on his shoulders after getting behind him.
“Doesn’t matter. Just ready the attack.” He cautiously began chanting again and I put the attribute of holiness into him. He brightened up as if he was using my aura and his attack charged in mere seconds. The beam shot out again with the brightness of the sun, blinding the crowd of cautious onlookers and knights. After the dust settled, the demoness was barely standing.
“This was… fun.” She immediately fell over and I took back the attribute of holiness from Sam after breathing a sigh of relief. The captain looked at me as I lifted Sam into my arms and descended down the building.
“You! You’re charged with several counts of property destruction, trespassing, and of stealing very important unrecoverable property.” I looked at him blankly.
“No I’m not. Shut up.” He looked at me with a bewildered expression as I put Sam down and turned to Chrisitian. At least the ‘property’ we stole wasn’t going to be sent right back into the shop thanks to them being ‘unrecoverable’. One of them must’ve known teleportation.
“Christian. Pick up the demon princess, we’re gonna find a tavern to sleep in for the night. I can’t be bothered doing anything else after that.” Christian nodded as the captain grabbed me by the shoulder plate and pulled me right back. This was gonna be a very annoying argument.
