Chapter 50: Escape.

Chapter 50: Escape.

Shipo quickly ran to his brother’s side where he cradled his head. “Are you Ok?”

Okimodo’s eyes slowly opened before he sat upright. He quickly closed his eyes in order to focus on his own thoughts and body. He couldn’t feel any other presences within him so he naturally concluded that, “he’s gone.”

“That’s good.” Shipo responded before heaving a heavy sigh of relief.

They then both directed their attention at the battle happening not too far away. The zombie amalgamation of Benjamin and Judus was in a frenzied state and attacked Rineamodo, Hiruru and Veronica with no clear strategy or main target.

“This thing is really starting to piss me off.” Rineamodo sneered at the beast that was charging at him.

As it swung its grotesque limb straight towards him, the prince quickly ducked under before flipping around it and slicing it off with his dagger.

The creature was unfazed and simply attacked with the other arm instead. This time Hiruru was the one to strike as she blasted the arm off with a torrent of bullets.

The creature staggered back and released a guttural scream before its body quickly began to regenerate. Within the icy darkness of the room its silhouette increased in size once again becoming even more monstrous than before.

“I get it now.” Veronica said to the two others. “It gets stronger and stronger the more damage it takes.”

“I suspected as much.” Hiruru frowned. “It seems like there’s no real way to deal with this thing since it will just bounce back from everything we throw at it.”

The creature attacked once again this time going for Veronica first.

The woman then activated the ability she had used to seal Keith away previously and the massive zombie was completely imprisoned in a massive golden sphere.

Hiruru placed her hand against it before looking into its milky half popped out eyes. She sighed before saying. “I’m sorry Judus, you didn’t deserve this.”

Once Okimodo had gotten to his feet, him and Shipo both walked over to the rest of them.

“Was creating this creature really the entire point of this all?” Rineamodo asked feeling somewhat confused. “I guess the ability to get stronger every time you’re injured does sound pretty useful. For what purpose would they need something like this though? I doubt it’s anything good.”

“Isn’t Ivan supposed to have returned by now?” Shipo asked. “If the super resonator controlling Okimodo was defeated then the barrier should be gone.”

“That’s because I was never defeated.” A voice suddenly said coming from the dark purple sphere that had stabilised unbeknownst to the five of them.

They all immediately glared towards the sphere as a tall man with an Afro and a green coat emerged from within it.

“I guess that really confirms that it’s indeed a transportation resonance ability and not something the zombies were merging into.” Shipo stroked his chin as he carefully anticipated the man’s next action.

Hiruru squinted at the man, for some reason she felt as if she had seen him before. “Who are you?” She asked.

“Ouch!” The man suddenly held his chest in offence. “I guess I can’t blame you for not knowing who I am, my brother has always been the more popular one.”

At the next moment another man leapt out from the hole behind the dark sphere. He landed not too far from the first man and when they stood in close proximity there was an undeniable family resemblance.

“Speak of the devil.” The man turned to look at Cosmic Keith with a wide mischievous grin.

“Wait a second!” Not just Hiruru but also Veronica immediately recognised Keith.

“Don’t tell me…” Hiruru grew pale as she spoke. “The Akira twins?”

Okimodo as well as Shipo and Rineamodo looked at Hiruru surprised before looking back at the two brothers more closely.

Okimodo immediately began to ponder. The Akira siblings were known to be extremely shady and would often do jobs for anyone from the government to the mafia. The elder twin brother was named Akira Cosmic Hon and he was a class seven super resonator, the younger one was named Akira Cosmic Kieth he was a class six. These two were undoubtedly a real problem.

“In the flesh.” Keith laughed as he stepped forward to take a grand bow. He then straightened his back before his eyes scanned the room intensely. Stroking his chin he looked at his brother before saying. “Didn’t She pass through here? Or did you already capture her?”

“Who the fuck are you talking about.” Hon sighed.

“Junior Hiro.” Keith sneered back at him. “And watch your goddamn tone when you talk to me.”

“You better take all of that fucking base out of your voice before big brother gets angry.” Hon scowled at his petulant younger brother. “And why the hell would I know where she is? If you’ve lost her again then you better start sniffing around.”

“Hiro?” Okimodo whispered in his brother’s ear. “He must have been the class six Hiro was referring to on the train.”

For a moment the two sides stared each other down unsure on what to do next. The raging beast continued to pound against the edge of the golden sphere fruitlessly as it screamed bloody murder.

The situation suddenly changed when Cosmic Hon suddenly said. “Keith kill all of these super resonators so I can turn them into undead.”

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

At that moment it became clear that a fight to the death would immediately begin as they all took defensive stances.

Keith immediately motioned with his hands and a wave of death seeds blasted towards the five super resonators.

They quickly fled the room and scattered throughout the various hallways and corridors, Okimodo and Shipo both searched for Hiro and June while avoiding the death seeds.

“Let’s get Hiro and get out of here.” Okimodo said. “There’s no real point in fighting those two since our jobs are both done.”

Shipo nodded in agreement before they both turned a corner and came across an open closet. They naturally were about to bolt straight past it before Shipo caught a glimpse of a staircase inside of the closet in the corner of his eye.

They stopped having already evaded the death seeds before observing the staircase that went down into a dark abyss. Rineamodo soon joined them before staring down the staircase as well.

“What’s that all about?” Rineamodo asked before he suddenly tensed up. “Someone is coming towards us.”

The three all took a step back as they listened carefully to the incoming steps. It sounded like one, no two people were running towards them.

That’s when Hiro and June came dashing out into the corridor with the rest of them calming Okimodo and Shipo but startling Rineamodo.

“Who the hell are you two?” Rineamodo asked immediately.

Both Hiro and June stared at the prince in complete disbelief at what they were seeing.

“Are you real?” June asked. “It can’t be right? It must be a look alike.”

“I am a look alike.” Rineamodo lied not wanting to waste any time on unnecessary conversation.

“Listen we have to get out of here now.” Shipo said urgently.

“I agree.” Hiro immediately said turning to look at Okimodo. “Okimodo let’s all get the fuck away from this place together.”

“You really are a slippery bunch.” An icy voice said casually from further down the corridor. “Especially you junior. You let me think that you escaped up through the hole while you actually just hid halfway up it before concealing yourself and jumping down after I passed you by. Very very clever….”

Cosmic Keith once again appeared before them.

Hiro instantly grew terrified and began to shake all over. The sight of it immediately threw Okimodo and June off.

Okimodo couldn’t help but find it surprising. This girl who had previously been ready to take on the world to kill Benjamin was now trembling with terror. Just what kind of connection did she have with Cosmic Keith?

Keith then turned his attention to the two Azurai. “What a bunch of cowards you two are. The Azurai clan must be in decline.”

Okimodo redirected his attention towards Keith before saying. “Provocation? Yeah, nice try buddy.”

Keith immediately held his stomach while laughing and saying. “I remember that time I fought one of your superiors named Guyus, that guy was one of few the people who made me fear death. With his bow he pierced my heart before almost cleaving me in half with his sword.”

Both Okimodo and Shipo were astonished at what they heard.

Keith continued. “Compared to him you two are a total sham.”

At the next moment the monkey demon slowly wrapped its arms around Okimodo while whispering in his ear. “Fucking kill this bastard. Who the hell does he think he’s talking to?”

“Enough.” Okimodo shrugged and the entity disappeared. “Nice try, but I’m not incompetent enough to attack because of my personal feelings. We are going to leave here and there isn’t shit you can do to stop us.”

“Nah, ah, ah…” Keith waved his finger around before suddenly unleashing a swirling vortex of death energy straight towards them at a terrifying speed. The thick black wave rotted everything it touched as it blasted forward.

Hiro slowly stepped back behind June and Rineamodo while Okimodo and Shipo both nodded at each other before stepping forward.

They both activated Heshea’s roar simultaneously and unleashed a dense clustering beam of energy that collided with the death energy halfway between them and Keith. The tiled walls were immediately blown away along side countless pieces of furniture as well as the ceiling. The entire ward shook and began to partially collapse, it’s over a dozen floors all sloping down into a slide.

Amidst the tumbling debris Okimodo, Shipo, Rineamodo, Hiro and june all fled the area and quickly darted over to the wards entrance.

In a flash they exited the class specific Barrier and emerged onto the front steps where they were immediately confronted by Ivan and Sharron.

“Good one.” Ivan nodded at Shipo approvingly before extending out his hand to take back his sword.

Shipo handed him the blade before asking. “What now?”

Ivan and Sharron both looked at each other before Sharron responded. “You kids can continue on home if you want to. We’ve already devised a method to enter the barrier but it will take some time.”

“I’ll stay.” Rineamodo said before turning to face the rest. “I guess I’ll see you guys around?”

“Wait!” Okimodo said. “Are you sure you’re going to be okay dude?”

“I’ll be fine.” Rineamodo laughed. “I could’ve easily killed that one Akira twin back there. I just couldn’t go all out because of you guys.”

“Yea sure…” Okimodo squinted at his cousin before turning to leave with everyone else.

Rineamodo then suddenly yelled. “Congratulations on passing the rite of passage, we sent a few gifts for you that should arrive at your house tomorrow.”

“We’ll be sure to pick them up.” Shipo said while waving goodbye.

They all quickly flew several kilometres away from the hospital while observing the city beneath them. They quickly looked down and saw the evacuated borough form a pitch black scar in the cityscape and dove towards the regions that were lit up.

They tore through the air before landing on the roof of a large row house over a dozen stories high. The streets beneath them were filled with tents containing the evacuated residents and countless volunteers giving them aid. Countless voices and food aromas filled the air along with music. The air was chilly yet not too cold and the breeze was gentle and nurturing. It was a stark contrast to the virtually dead environment they were just in.

“So I guess this is where I say goodbye to the rest of you guys?” June said smiling at the three. “It was an interesting experience to say the least, even if we didn’t kill Benjamin in the end.”

“Wait a second!” Okimodo said suddenly. “Why was it that you even wanted to kill Benjamin in the first place? And the same goes for you Hiro.”

“Umm…” June smiled nervously. “Personal reasons…”

Okimodo and Shipo decided not to bother with asking him anything else and fixed their gazes on to Hiro who was still visibly shaken and sweating.

“Are you Okay?” Okimodo asked concerned.

June also turned to look at Hiro with a raised eyebrow.

Hiro suddenly jolted awake when she realised that she was being stared at. She laughed nervously and responded. “Sorry about that, what were you asking me again?”

Back at the ward a dead body hit the ground with a heavy thud as death energy slowly rotted it from the inside. The woman’s mouth was wide open and her eyes were bulging despite their dryness.

Cosmic Keith loomed over Hiruru’s dead body before turning to leave and saying. “Just one more left to go.”

Around a corner far down the corridor from him Veronica sat with her back against the wall occasionally peeking around to see if he was coming towards her. She began to focus in her mind as she once again tried contacting her sister.

“Catharine… come on already.” She had already failed to reach her not too long ago. Hopefully she didn’t fall asleep.

“Veronica?”

Veronica’s eyes lit up. “Sister I need your help!”

From her apartment in Buchai, Catherine quickly got out of bed when she heard her sister’s urgent and desperate tone. “What’s the matter?”

“Nothing is the matter.” A male voice responded in her sister’s place.

Catharine’s eyes widened in shock before she flew into a panic. “WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!”

“Nobody special.” Cosmic hon responded as he towered over Veronica’s dead body.
