Chapter 48: Fight!
Veronica was silent for a few seconds before she finally spoke up. “Why are you here?”
“To be honest with you.” Rineamodo leaned with his back against the wall. “I came here because I’m looking to kill somebody. What about you?”
“I’m here to rip a certain someone to shreds.” Veronica said as she continued to walk past him. “Have you seen a blonde super resonator in black?”
Rineamodo quickly developed a nervous sweat. “Umm….”
“I’m not talking about you.” Veronica rolled her eyes.
“I think I briefly saw a guy like that on the back of the dragon that came crashing into the building.” Rineamodo answered.
Instantly Veronica’s eyes began to glow with a demonic blood lust. “That’s the bastard I’m looking for.”
“I know that look.” Rineamodo began to smirk. “Have you seen Benjamin Norton anywhere near here? I’m looking for him for the exact same reason.”
Veronica then thought back to when she was spat out by the dragon and knocked out by its tail. If she wasn’t mistaken that blonde haired bastard was carrying Benjamin with him.
“He should be with the super resonator I’m looking for.” Veronica explained. “Do you not know where he is?”
“No.” Admitted Rineamodo. “Let’s just keep looking around I’m sure we’ll find them eventually.”
The puppet king began to levitate as he chanted in a guttural manner. A low vibration slipped its way through the entire ward filling every dead body in the building.
Soon countless corpses rose from the dead before they all made their way towards a single central point.
“What’s going on?” Hiruru watched on in pure confusion as the hollow eye sockets of countless corpses passsed her by.
They all marched uncompromisingly towards the staircase leading back down to the first floor. The thunder of their footsteps was the only sound they made.
She naturally followed after them suspecting that they would lead her to where Benjamin was if the bastard was still alive.
She quietly followed after them down the stairs and through the corridor until she saw them all gather around the entrance to a room. They all quickly poured into the room like sand falling down in an hourglass. As the last of them entered Hiruru noticed Rineamodo and Veronica running towards her from the opposite direction.
“What’s all this about?” Rineamodo asked.
Hiruru shook her head. “I have no clue.”
The three then directed their gazes towards the room the corpses all poured into before approaching it cautiously.
Upon peeking inside they saw a large dark purple sphere convulsing in the centre of the room.
One by one the corpses all walked into it with wide arms as they were absorbed entirely, melding disgustingly into the undulating black mass.
Looking up they saw none other than a levitating Okimodo or whoever was in his body calmly observing what was happening with his arms crossed behind his back.
just beneath him Tristan also watched the orb with a morbid expression.
Upon seeing him Veronica instantly went on the offensive much to the immediate dismay of Rineamodo and Hiruru.
Naturally Veronica was spotted instantly as well as the other two.
Veronica didn’t care one bit about this however, so she simply went straight for Tristan’s jugular.
Tristan quickly stumbled back before looking up at the puppet king and begging. “Do something about her.”
“Watch your tone.” The puppet king frowned before he stared at the ground in between both of Tristan’s legs.
“What?” Tristan watched on in horror as the floor beneath him slowly began to ripple like a liquid. He was then pulled underneath just before Veronica could reach him.
Veronica then immediately redirected her attention at the possessed Okimodo and yelled. “Looks like I’ll just kill you first then!”
The room was soon lit under a golden aura as countless beams of golden light shot up towards the levitating puppet king.
He dodged effortlessly before the light beams began to ricochet all over the room ripping apart many of the corpses that had yet to merge into the dark sphere.
Rineamodo and Hiruru did not join in the attack, instead they watched on and pondered warily, waiting for the time to strike.
Rineamodo turned his attention towards Hiruru and asked. “Do you think it’s possible that he’s sacrificing them all in some demonic ritual?”
“That’s not what it is.” Hiruru explained. “The massive dark sphere is actually transporting the bodies to an unknown location. It’s a resonance ability that belongs to the zombie demon school. Judging by the proto atom density around him he’s likely a class seven.”
“What the hell do we do then?” Rineamodo scowled.
Seeing that the light beams were damaging the corpses, The puppet king quickly snapped his fingers producing a wave of black proto atoms that shook the entire building sending the frenzied Veronica flying back before crashing into a wall. The light beams all dispersed simultaneously and many of the zombies began to pull themselves back together.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
At the same time Shipo arrived by the side of Hiruru and Rineamodo, startling them both.
He looked at the two of them before Saying. “Ivan and Sharron can’t enter the building because this coward erected a class specific barrier. Our best bet is to attack him all at once.”
“Wait seriously?” Hiruru said before scowling.
Rineamodo eyed the shimmering white blade in Shipo’s hand. “Ivan gave you that thing? You should be cared with it since it’s a sword designed for class seven and above.”
“I know.” Shipo rolled his eyes before continuing to say. “You can all distract him while I use soul attacks to remove him from my brother’s body. Once my brother has returned to his senses we have to find a way to remove the barrier.”
Rineamodo then seemed to remember something important. “Benjamin! I can’t believe I forgot that piece of shit!”
“That’s right, what exactly happened to that bastard?” Hiruru frowned. “I haven’t seen him since that dragon snatched him away. Hopefully he’s dead.”
“He’s probably dead.” Shipo admitted.
Someone then suddenly walked past them into the room towards the dark purple sphere. For a split second they were unsure of what to make of it until they realised that it was none other than Judus’s corpse. It’s previously severed head seemed to have been restored to semi intact state through a series of tumour like growths around its neck.
“What the hell?” Hiruru immediately reached out to stop him only to be held back by Rineamodo.
“He’s already dead.” Rineamodo said.
“You don’t know what they’re going to do to his body!” Hiruru protested. “He doesn’t deserve to have his corpse defiled as a part of some bastard’s scheme.”
She shrugged him off and continued to march forward stopping the corpse of Judus by holding on to its shoulder.
It didn’t fight or seem to acknowledged her at all and only struggled and failed to keep on moving forward.
At the same time Veronica recovered and got back up to her feet only to see the possessed Okimodo charge towards her while enshrouding himself in a dark purple aura.
She quickly did a jump into a barrel roll narrowly dodging a torrent of purple flames that destroyed a large portion of the wall.
She quickly activated a resonance ability that enveloped her body in a bright golden mist that could repel blunt force. During her time in the belly of the dragon her proto atoms had regenerated to half of their capacity allowing her to fight once again.
“I’m going to attack.” Shipo said. “I need the two of you to distract him as i previously explained.”
They both nodded before Hiruru reluctantly let go of Judus’s body before moving forward with the rest of them.
Rineamodo was the first to run ahead while yelling. “Hey Okimodo! Snap out of it. You were never one to be so weak minded as to allow yourself to be controlled.”
The puppet king quickly extended his right arm towards the approaching prince and unleashed a wave of purple flames that hurdled towards him.
Rineamodo tore his coat off and waved it around above his head causing a vortex of air to form that sucked up all of the flames.
He leapt up high into the air before waving his coat around and sending the fire straight back at the body snatcher.
Simultaneously Veronica attacked as well conjuring up a spear of light in mid air before jumping into a flip while grabbing it. She then harpooned it straight towards the enemy who didn’t make any attempt to avoid it. He instead simply extended one index finger and the spear stopped in its tracks, seemingly held in place by a bizarre gravitational force. He then weaved his other hand in a circle capturing the purple flames that Rineamodo sent back at him. The flames then coiled around his body like a snake before shooting towards the light spear.
Both Veronica and Rineamodo jumped back several metres upon seeing this. They quickly joined Hiruru who had yet to make an attack of her own.
The puppet king stared the four super resonators down before his purple flames began to wrap around the spear of light corrupting it into a twisted proto atom construct.
He then hurled it at the four like a javelin. It moved with such blinding speed that it produced several sonic booms before it was suddenly sliced clean in half by Shipo.
Shipo closed his eyes as he began to activate Divine Cleave. He felt his proto atoms flow into the white guillotine as the attack was charged up. Now all Shipo had to do was get a direct hit on him.
Sensing the incoming spiritual attack from Shipo, the puppet king quickly extended his right index finger and a bolt of purple lightning struck the white guillotine. It immediately caused the proto atoms inside of it to be completely disrupted cancelling out the attack.
“Be sharp young Azurai.” The puppet king smiled as he tapped his index finger to his forehead three times.
His eyes then quickly focused in on Judus’s corpse that had almost reached the dark sphere. He pondered for a moment before deciding to spice things up a bit. He willed for Benjamin’s corpse to return from the black sphere which it quickly did stepping out to reveal itself to the four super resonators.
“So Benjamin is dead after all.” Rineamodo couldn’t help but chuckle as he spoke. “Serves that bastard right.”
“Wait, what the hell is he…” Hiruru’s green eyes constricted with shock as she witnessed something truly despicable.
The corpses of Benjamin and Judus got extremely close to each other before their flesh started to grow and meld together.
“What the fuck!” Shipo was disgusted to the point of wanting to vomit.
Rineamodo and Veronica were both silent but their expressions were equally as unsettled as the other two.
Soon the two corpses became a throbbing mass of limbs and pulsating generic organs. A disgusting mangled head with two mouths and three deformed drooping eyes formed above its shoulders before it unleashed a blood curdling scream.
“Please kill us…” the creature immediately began to beg for its own death before its body had even finished its transformation. “Please kill us…”
“Screw this…” Hiruru took several steps forward before extending her right hand.
It quickly transformed into the long barrel of a machine gun.
Veronica naturally noticed that just like Lyon Hiruru was from the living weapon refinement school. The painful reminder of him made Veronica’s hatred towards the super resonator that killed her friends intensify rapidly.
Hiruru immediately screamed. “How could you do that to Judus?! He… he was a father that fought to protect his child to the very end and now you defile him in death? Whoever you are, I swear to the living embodiment of weaponry Harrybell that I’ll find your real body and burn it before feeding it to feral dogs and pigs.”
She then unleashed a never ending assault of bullets that tore the monstrosity that had formed from Benjamin and Judus to smouldering pieces.
Once the attack stopped the corpse reformed instantly before growing even more massive and contorted. It then charged straight towards the four super resonators that all jumped out of the way with the exception of Hiruru who took it head on.
Shipo immediately channeled another Divine cleave this time using spectrum dash simultaneously.
The puppet king sensed the attack coming far too late this time and was forced to temporarily retreat from Okimodo’s body.
Cassandra suddenly found herself in control of Okimodo’s body once more and struggled to understand what was happening.
A white blade of energy resembling a crescent moon shot straight through her causing her to feel the worst explosion of pain she had ever felt in her life. She immediately fell to the ground before the puppet king regained control once more.
“Was I being sharp enough just now?” Shipo smiled mockingly at his floored enemy before he realised something. He could’ve sworn that he had just seen someone else control Okimodo judging by the sudden change in facial expressions. Did this mean that there were more than two people in his brother’s body?
Veronica then let out a long sigh before closing her eyes and drowning out everything else. She immediately attempted to contact her sister, she would be able to eject whatever entity it was that was controlling the Azurai boy with ease. The problem was that once the entity was out of his body it could then easily escape and never be seen again.
