"Master." the two bowed then entered the dojo smirking.
The old man took the two boys to their rooms and told them the training would start the next day.
They had their baths and changed into the dojo uniform the old man has given them.
"wake up. Wake up." yelled the old man from the training grounds.
Trevor and Jack came out of there rooms running to the training grounds.
There were a bunch of training dummies, punching bags and obstacle courses.
They walked up to the old man and greeted him.
" Go fetch me fifty buckets of water. The borehole is right down the hill." said the old man pointing to fifty buckets on his right.
The boys at first didn't agree but they had no choice if they wanted to learn from him.
They all did there best going down the hill with two buckets and combing back up with them filled.
They only filled up to 20 buckets by midday and couldn't keep up anymore.
They approached the old man and told him that they couldn't do it any more.
"Have your lunch." said the old man.
Trevor and Jack felt relieved and happy after hearing that.
But before the joy could even last, the old man told them to go back fill the bucket after lunch.
The joy they felt earlier was now shuttered.
They tried to slow down have fast they ate so they could get enough rest but the food would eventually get done .
They headed back to their gruesome labour but only managed to fill 20 more buckets.
They had their supper and told to sleep early.
"Is this guy really teaching us anything. I feel like we are being used to do his chores." said Trevor in utter frustration.
"I don't really know but there is a reason why my mom told me to come here." replied Jack.
They woke up the next morning did the drill all over again but they only got to fill up 5 more buckets than last time.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
And to top it all off, the old man kept on adding 5 more buckets each day.
A week passed with all the gruesome labour and they managed to fill all the buckets.
Frustrated Trevor and Jack complained to their master that they weren't learning anything ever since they came.
"Hehehe. Your training started the day you touched those buckets." shrugged their master.
"What are you talking about, we haven't learned a single skill since we came." said Jack.
"But yes you have. I've taught you strength and endurance. Run to the borehole and back 100 times. You'll see what I'm telling you." said the old man.
The two followed his instructions and did as he said.
He was right. The two ran down and up the hill and didn't break a sweat.
They had their support later in the evening and went to bed with sheer excitement.
Their impression of their master has changed.
They woke up early the next morning morning with excitement on what they would learn next.
They headed to the training ground and found their master meditating
"Strength is nothing without flexibility." said the master with his eyes still closed.
"Is that our lesson today?" asked Trevor.
"Yes." said their master while standing up.
The old man then leaped into the air and landed on a pole in an obstacle course.
Trevor and Jack seeing this, dropped their Jaws at the sight of such an old man jumping a high altitude and then land on top of a pole softy with one leg like he were a paper.
They thought they had seen it all then the old man started doing all kinds of flips from pole to pole.
They were even more shocked at this.
"Your first lesson, a back hand spring." said the old man looking down at them.
He jumped down from the pole and handed them a scroll each.
He then went on demonstrating a back hand spring.
They started their trading immediately but couldn't get it.
They only ended up bruising them selves.
"Master makes it look so easy. Damn" said Trevor attempting to do another.
They had an unfruitful day of learning.
The excitement they woke up with in the morning had dissipated.
"I believe you had a rough day yesterday." said Master Soimacho.
"Well, no pain no gain" continued Master Soimacho telling his two students in front of him.
"Today I'll instruct you on how to do a correct back flip. But fast stretching time." said the old man with a smirk.
He then instructed the two to stretch in all kinds of weird and uncomfortable positions.
The stretches that came so easy for the old man where so gruesome and painful for the two.
They stretched their arms, did cobra stretches for the spine and splits relieving their tense muscles and ligaments.
They did splits but couldn't complete the a full split. They separated their legs as fur as possible but felt pain around their joints and fell down immediately.
3 months passed in the dungeon and Trevor didn't know when he would be heading back to the real world.
Trevor and Jack had almost completed their training at the dojo and often spurred with their master.
Their skills had improved during the three months.
One day, they had a visitor in the morning.
"Is Soimacho around?" the visitor asked Trevor who had come to check on who was outside.
"And you are?" asked Trevor.
"I hope you know answering a question with another question is annoying. Any way am just an old friend." said the man.
He looked to be at his late forties and a master of martial arts as well.
"I'll be back." said Trevor turning around to go confirm with his master.
"Master. There's someone here to see you. He says he is an old friend." said Trevor bowing for the old man.
"Old friend? Who could that be? Let him in." said the old man.
Trevor came back with the visitor behind him.
When the old man saw the visitor, he frowned hard.
"You." said the old man enraged.
"Yes. Old man. I see your still in shape." said the visitor with a kind of evil smirk on his face.
