Chapter 6: Survival part two

“Oh shit~!” Bai Qing and Lu Lingqi cried out in unison seeing the swarm of these creatures rushed towards them like tidal wave.

“Fall back~! Fall back~!” Bai Qing cried out to the rest of the students behind her.

“Fall back? And let them in?” Lu Lingqi looked at Bai Qing like she just lost her mind.

“We’ve got no choice what you think you can fight that many we’ll be overrun!”

“But the residence area- “

“We can rebuild it afterwards but we have to survive through this first ok?” seeing as Lu Lingqi was being indecisive Bai Qing quickly persuaded her friend while grabbing her arm pulling her along.

“Damn it!” Lu Lingqi was visibly frustrated but knew that there was nothing that she could do to prevent the inviable.

Further back behind them closer to the wall a majority of the students were quickly loading up into the BJ212s while some were holding a defensive line preventing the remaining crawlers in the area from reaching the vehicles.

“Control this is the defense team there’s a massive swarm heading towards us there’s too many of them we’re pulling back into the residence area block 3C are the defense systems operationally over?”

“Copy that get out of there we’ve just got the school’s defense system up so it should help to you hold them there we’re sending more people over to you just hold the line and stay alive do you copy over.”

“Read you Lima Charlie over.” Bai Qing responded over the comms while heading back towards the residence area.

“Go! Go~! Get to Whitehall Avenue go!”

Behind them the concert walls shattered with a loud bang as a cloud smog that formed from the debris and dirt rushing through the smog cloud was seemly a never tide of creatures that rushed pashed through the smoke cloud and into the clearing chasing after the students smashing through any house or building that stood in their way.

“Get ready here they come!” one of the students after reaching their destination at a four-way street with multiple housing on all sides running up behind a car turned about and fire away at the incoming swarm.

Soon everyone turned back around and was firing away as with several more BJ212 as well as other vehicles with more students coming up behind them. Along with several massive APC-like trucks which skidded to a stop behind them.

Soon the rear section of the truck opened unveiling the contents it held within, the opened frame of the truck revealed a now open storage rack with 5 WarFrames on each side, they sat facing to the left and right until they deploy from the truck, Coming up behind on their fellow students as they raised their weapons high towards the incoming tide.

“Stand fast hit them with everything you’ve got.”

Bai Qing yelled out loud as she fired the rifle weapon that she received from one of the newly arrived WarFrames pilots, the rifle that she was using somewhat resembles the QBZ-95 Assault Rifle but on a much larger scale it was in fact however the standard WarFrame firearm in China’s military the Type-82 Tactical Assault Cannon. A .55 cal Assault rifle with detachable magazines that hold up to 50 rounds each. The gun's weapons systems can be separated into two components; a .55 cal chain gun makes up the bulk of the weapon, with a removable grenade launcher attachment on the top front of the Assault.

Shots fired and the beasts at front fell dying the ground in bright colors of red the ones that came after it stomped over it body into meat paste the rest of the swarm not even bothering with their death stepping over their brethren’s body with no remorse.

“There’s just too damn many of these things!”

Easily emptying out one mag after another and firing multiple grenades causing massive explosions causing body parts flying everywhere from the incoming swarm, yet despite that the numbers of the creatures just only seems to increase instead of decreasing.

When suddenly out from the ground where the swarm were all huddle together multiple spike pillars shot out from the ground impaling multiple “Crawlers” up into the air those that were able to avoid the pillars rushed through in between the gaps fell to the ground decapacitated in multiple area of their body.

If one was to look more carefully in between the gaps that separate the pillars there are multiple thin wires in what seems like to be coat in energy, with electricity dancing on the surface connected from one pillar to another crisscrossing together closing up the gaps between the pillars.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Seeing this happening, the students let out a quick cheer before joining in on the action.

“Ah~, the good oh Spike trap and here we all thought that it was even pointless having them at all.”

“Yeah~.”

The spike trap was installed years ago back when the school was originally a fully functioning military base, despite the base being decommissioned and becoming a military school none of the base’s defenses or facilities on campus were taken down. The only difference being the additional buildings added such as the school being and other academies facilities for the students as well as the residence area to give the school a bit more atmosphere befitting of a school than a military base.

“Let’s not get too relax just yet look the bodies are just piling up there.”

“Yeah.”

Bai Qing and Lu Lingqi readied themselves as they too started to move back into the fray.

“Ah!” a pained cry came from a student not to far from them as she fell onto her side another student close to her rushed to help.

“Hey you-…...what the hell?!” as soon as that student reached her before the hand she reaches out to help her she saw the reason as to why her colleague fell there embedded in her right thigh was a sharp pointed object similar to that of a spike with red blood was flowing out from the sides.

“Where the hell did this come from...gah!”

Before she knew what was even going on she felt a sharp pain overcome her as she fell to her knees.

“An attack where?!” Lu Lingqi cried out immediately as her eyes darted back and forth left from right

“Up above!” Bai Qing had her eyes on the sky as she had her rifle raised up into the sky and in the process of emptying out her clip as she was reaching for her spare clips.

Up in the skies there were multiple flying creatures, it strongly resembles that of a bat but its anatomy consists of two short thick muscular legs and long, four-digit hand-wings that bear a striking resemblance to a Pterosaur`s wing.

“What the hell is that!?”

“Who cares! Drop them! Drop them!”

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Acting upon instinct everyone raised their weapons up to the air unleashing a tide of burning lead upwards towards the creatures with many hitting their targets as the sky was fill the cries of the creatures before falling to their deaths.

A few of those creatures managed to fly past the wave of lead and began their own barrage of red spikes at the students from their mouths.

“Woah! Ah!”

Seeing that the girls all quickly moved out of the way while some were not as lucky and were struck in places such as the arms of the legs seeing this as a chance the bat-like creatures quickly dive down towards the girls.

“Ah-!” “H-Help me!” “Xiao Qin! Lily! Let go of them you freaking animals!” several of the girls were unfortunately not fast enough to evade the creatures diving bombing towards them as they were caught up in their talons and carried off into the skies.

As the ones left behind on the ground could do nothing but watch as their friends were carried off by the creatures as the flock avoided their fire, some of the bat-like creature apparently couldn’t hold their hungry as they immediately began tearing and ripping the girls apart.

Biting at their stomach ripping chucks of meat along with their red crimson intestines that dangled like spaghetti pasta from their mouths. With others in the flock that quickly swarms at their prey leaving the girls screaming in great pain and agony as they were slowly devoured alive, blood and body parts rained down from the sky that didn’t end up in the creatures mouth ended up on the ground bellow.

One particular group of them even seemed to be playing with one of the poor girls as they stretch her body by all four of her limbs, causing the girl to scream in agony as her body was being stretched to the limit. When suddenly another one of the creatures originally not a part of the group nosed dived severing off the girl’s right leg clean off, her cries filled the sky but was block out from the sound of gun fire and the shrieking voices of the massive horde of these creatures everywhere.

“Bastard~!” Bai Qing cried out as she rushed forward in her black-colored scheme Gun-Ru bashing away any Crawlers that got in her way, with several of the other WarFrames joining her in the action while several jumped to the sky trying to reach their friends others along with the remaining students fought on the ground holding back the tide. When Bai Qing was just below the group tormenting the poor soul above she leaped up forwards combined with the momentum from her sprint and with the full power of her suit’s thrusters, as she jumped with everything she had but….fell short of a hands reach as she descend downwards quickly firing her thrusters to soften her landing falling a few feet away from the battlefield.

“So of a……I forgot I don’t have a Jump-Unit shit!”

“Bai Qing look out~!” from behind her she heard Lu Lingqi cry out but it was already too late.

As a shadow suddenly loomed over Bai Qing before she could react she was knocked over to the ground tumbling and rolling around for a few seconds away from where she was originally standing. Rolling onto her back trying to get back on her feet while fighting the dizziness that was starting to build up in her head, another shadow loomed over her and despite her state she could make out that the thing before her was the same as the mantis-like creature that she had killed before.

Not this one was pinning her to the ground as it was snapping it mouth filled with razor sharp teeth at her head, Bai Qing desperately tried to hold it back with her left hand as the rest of her body was pinned due to the creature being on top of her. Though Lu Lingqi was close by to her but she was preoccupied with another one of those creatures so she couldn’t go to Bai Qing’s aid.

“Damn it! Get out of my way damn you….. Bai Qing!” though despite Lu Lingqi’s best efforts was thawed by the creature in front of her rendering her unable to move to assist her friend.

Bai Qing was beginning to lose strength trying to hold back the thing onto of her just as she was about to resign to her fate the creatures head sudden exploded as its headless corpse fell lifelessly onto of her body.

Not just on Bai Qing’s side the creature that was stalling Lu Lingqi also had its head explode as a gush of blood poured out of its neck as its copse fell onto the ground.

“Huh?”

In the sky a great number of the bat-like creatures were also falling from the sky including the group that was tormenting the girl that Bai Qing was trying to save. As the last bat was holding onto the girl had it head explode like a watermelon it along with the girl began falling down to the ground.

While that was happening suddenly several parts of the area of the street seemed to have undergo a transformation as trash bin stops disappeared into the ground and was replaced with a heavy sentry gun, as soon as it revealed itself the muzzle of the weapon pointed towards the swarm and let loose a barrage of led as blood and body parts just flew all around the area.

“Lu Lingqi!”

“I’m on it~!”

Springing into action Lu Lingqi jumped in the air, catching the girl in mid air while leaving the other being to fall into a bloody mess on the ground while paying no mind to yet.

“How is she?” after getting the heavy corpse off of her Bai Qing quickly rushed over to Lu Lingqi’s side kneeling next to her.

“Not good she’s losing too much blood and fast, I can stop the bleeding temporarily but she needs real medical help fast.”

Lu Lingqi said as she was tending to the unconscious girl dressing up her wound trying to stop the bleeding but the warping quickly turned red in a matter of moments after she wrapped it around the girl’s severed leg.

“Wait you hear that?” Bai Qing sudden stood up from her kneeling position next to Lu Lingqi as she was looking up towards the sky.

“Hear what…..oh…artillery?”

Several whistling sound could be heard up above them before the several massive chain explosions occurred within the swarms ranks, like tiny volcanoes blowing blood and guts into the air instead of lava.

“Get back! We got to get out of the blast zone!”

Seeing as how they were far too close to the explosions Bai Qing and Lu Lingqi ran away from the site all the while covering the girl that they just rescued so that not fragment shards would graze her.

The massive swarm seemed to be getting smaller and smaller as the explosions continued seeing the chance the students all retreated away from the blast zone gathering around Bai Qing and Lu Lingqi.

Looking backwards towards the school grounds Bai Qing looking though her suit’s optic cameras allowing her to see things further away than the naked eye can see. She saw a small fleet aircrafts heading their way from the school.

“I guess the Calvary is finally here huh?”
