Week 4 Police Station 1st Visit

Step towards needed Corruption-

.

Meeting Cheryl and Luigi at the police station, both of them were surprised that he really came. Most bosses were all talk and wanted to distance themselves from such problems. They didn't need to know that he did this to make sure the situation was understood properly and to take in all the mental anguish from all of the people inside the building.

Just in case another supernatural incident developed like before he had a valid excuse.

'It is hard to keep a straight face, the amount of energy for the Tortured Mind Refining Arts is monstrous!'

Rexford took it all in unabathed and would have started to refine it but his full attention was needed on his employees. However, he made sure to start pulling the dark spirits in and had the Mini and the First Man speak to them to earn their keep inside of him.

His Soul Siphon required to much of a focus unlike these two. Well, the First Man did something else that still got the job done. As for the evil type energy, well it was pulled into the Black Gold Vortex.

Neither of the two were allowed to do anything else besides talk to them after doing so. Rexford just didn't trust both of his mental residents. He didn't know why but the feeling grew stronger to be on guard against both of them.,

"So what did most of them get arrested for?"

Both Luigi and Cheryl started to fidget at the question. One of the problems of Rexford taking in such energy as it gave him a dangerous air. This was one of the worst things about him but more prominent for someone like Cheryl who just started cultivating alongside Luigi.

Not only did a few of the employees start a bar fight over a sneaked-in brat, but they also broke the jaw of some fatass rich kid. That boy was a part of a family with influence but not as much as some of his friends who were also there illegally. It was a pain to deal with this but the problem would not end well at all for most of them in the long run.

If Rexford had anything to say about it anyway.

The employee who broke the teens' jaw was not getting out tonight but the rest were let go with simple citations and a trespassing order to not go back to the bar. The fines were pretty bad as they tallied them up but they could take some overtime to compensate for it.

Legal wise a lawyer would look into all of it to see what could be done overall.

"Well it sucks but he is gonna have some trouble ahead but not too bad overall. Is the owner of the bar seeking compensation for the damages?" Rexford wonders if the owner could be in on it or just a small issue that went bad.

"No, he just wants the situation taken care of with little involvement." Luigi said frustrated. "The bar owner is a little seedy prick and has a habit of having underage teens inside because of the cash flow increase."

"No need for the underage part he has a problem with letting minors in period. The bar doesn't serve food to allow minors in and is definitely not a restaurant of sorts." Vincent, one of the employees grumbled. He had a point since adding the underage painted a bad picture when minor would suffice enough. "If the brat wasn't there in the first place we wouldn't have this problem."

"Heh!" The desk officer scoffed at that. "You lowlifes always blaming others!" He was definitely a cop who had been in his position way too long.

"What the hell did you say to my employee?" Rexford stepped in front glaring the man down behind the desk. "I know you didn't insult some hard-working men and women who were well within their rights to go to a bar and have fun! The brat shouldn't have been in there from the get-go! If officers like yourself crack down harder at those places this wouldn't have been an issue!"

The other officers near Rexford started to tremble while reaching for their firearms. The vocal outburst was amplified by his very demeanor and energy surrounding him. Luigi put Cheryl behind him just in case it went bad.

"Yo..u..r employee has a rap sheet a mile long, he shouldn't be out anywhere!" The officer stumbled a bit but regained his bearing quickly. He didn't make it this long by being a weak-willed person. Just a weak sense of morals. "Be happy they only got by with just a simple citation punk!"

"Yeah, count ourselves lucky." Rexford just gave the man a grin as he looked at the officer's badge number and pulled out his phone. "I hope you are lucky to officer, as well as those in your department."

Coming from the age of Police Accountability these behaviours were bad reminders of how it used to be. That was a market he definitely could get behind in the form of body cams and pushing certain movements if played right.

he was no saint and money was needed to be made before this Dimension got bad.

He was going to college after all and that gave access to all those types of outspoken individuals. Not to mention the teachers and professors who tended to rekindle the fight against oppression.

"What can some little brat do?" The officer didn't care and made a note to make sure the last worker got hemmed up a bit. Just a small courtesy for his boss causing him trouble. "Hope your employee is really lucky until his arrangement."

"Why you bastard!" Cheryl almost lost it and would have attacked the officer if not for Luigi. "That was a threat if I ever heard one!"

"Calm down, you are in a police station. Blue sticks with blue and as you can see some are already reaching." It was a good reminder and Luigi made sure to watch out for those who were already for the future interactions. 'Man, no wonder Cosmo kept all activity at night. Seeing shit in the light kind hurts in a weird way.'

"Everyone will head out with Luigi and Cheryl, I will wait until his supervisor becomes available. Make sure you get an account of everything that happened and talk to anyone else who were involved." Rexford kept his grin as he moved to a bench to sit down. "I have all the time in the world to do so, don't worry about it."

Reluctantly his employees left. The officers slowly went on about their business and gave a few odd looks to Rexford as word of mouth traveled quickly about what happened.

Cultivating the Tortured Mind Refining Arts on the spot he started to hear the whispers of those who died in the police station but were to weak to remain whole. The number of evil spirits he consumed increased another margin because of his focus.

Cassandra finally got back to him and informed him the Supernatural side didn't really mess with every state matter but reminded the Government had strong hands in. A few states had a few supernatural employees but they were not something to overly worry about. However, this didn't mean charges couldn't be brought against you and once it came to getting arrested they were expected to handle it cleanly and thoroughly.

If he wanted to get involved with the police in a supernatural capacity she made it clear the Bo Family couldn't help. While also letting him know it was also costly to do such things in the short term and long term.

'Ah, he made it.' Having a spirit that was called for finally arrive he sent it to watch over his employee for the time being. It was allowed to possess and do whatever it needed to deal with any who attacked the man. "Such a bad reputation the police station has. It is quite a shame."

A few young officers frowned at that. Very aware of the reputation the place had and unable to do anything the light in these good officers were dying quickly.

Time passed with a few rough criminals taken in and the changing of shifts occurring. Rexford received a few looks and curses but nothing else happened to him. Even the officer who badmouthed his employee did nothing but leave after glaring at him briefly.

His spirit reported that a "drunk" tried to cut his worker but he took care of them by making the man stab himself and the officer who brought him in before getting subdued. Heading back, to continue watching the worker, the spirit smiled as it enjoyed its work.

An older officer came over at that time and addressed Rexford.

"The Captain will see you now kid." It was meant as a sign of disrespect since the officer had no idea how old he was and despite the way Rexford was dressed and his medium to large build, the man gave off bad vibes. "Heard you stood in here all night, what a waste of time."

"Not a waste to do something like that, especially for those who work for you." The officer said nothing else as they made it to the chief's office. "Thanks for the escort, you should see a doctor about that rash on your neck."

Officer Blakely rubbed his neck as he walked away. The door to the Captain's office closed with a silent thud.

.

No Compromise-

.

Captain Horatio Badgley looked overworked, underpaid, unhealthy, and just at the end of his ropes. Oddly enough Rexford felt bad for the man as it definitely looked like the captain didn't get any sleep at all before coming into work.

He honestly thought he would have dealt with a Sergeant if he was lucky. Not an actual Captain. Quite a few ranks up at the most.

"Heard you have a complaint to give." The man at least gave his full attention.

"I do, but that can wait." He reached over taking the coffee the man was about to start drinking. "You shouldn't drink poison like this. Your body will thank you if you do."

Tossing the coffee cup into the trash he pointed at the spot where some of it spilled over. It bubbled a little but Rexford made it bubbled even more so to help convince the man. Up to the point some of the splinters caught fire before snuffing out.

"Damn bastards won't let me live!" The Captain gave a growl of frustration as he was sick of dealing with those lowlives who think they can buy him off. "They just don't get it!"

"True but what if I say I can help cure you and help you fix the police department here. In time at least help the others." He was not talking overly so or stepping into the area of bribing as something nagged at him that would not work. "Everything above the board of course and mostly at leisure without any pushing from me besides everything gets done by the book."

He may tread in both the criminal and lawful element but it had to be done.

"You sir are gonna be the end of me, I just know it." Captain Badgley sat down and pulled a bottle of water from his bag to drink. "I am listening but know I take no bribery's and do not due favors."

"That works in my favor, I just want to help spread tolerance and control methods for officers before.. Some incidents start coming to light all over. What is your email address?"

He spent a good bit of the night cultivating but that didn't mean he didn't work on other stuff. Like typing up some things the police department could work on immediately. As well as checking into a lot of news reports on the various stations. It was too much to go through in one night but something he could due during the summer all the same.

Once that was sent off he got into the basics of what he was trying to do.

"Some of your officers need to be let go during or after formal investigations. I do believe donations to individual departments can help with that. Goodwill one's as far as the law allows." Thinking about it he remember private foundations were able to do it easily. "You have enough officers that can be used for good work as the reason. Just will take a while to set everything up above the board."

"Too short on cops to do that. The city wouldn't survive." It was a hopeful thought. But life didn't work that way.

"What if I can help with that quota of officers while making sure they do not want raises that will cost the force to much?" He had a few spirits that would serve well in that department and the homeless population was something he could use. "How many officers would it take out of the Academy to do that? Specifically how many it would take that won't leave the city easily for better rates?"

The Captain was of course willing to humor him after the display with the coffee but this was something he didn't understand. Why start here at his Station and not talk with the mayor or the governor about such a matter?

As the time passed the conversation became more and more serious as Rexford used knowledge from his world to highlight problems and some solutions that worked. The Captain no longer took in stride and actively started to listen and give counterarguments.

Heading out of the police station, Rexford slipped into an alley before activating a Glyph he worked on, one thing he could do with his magic studies were these quickly. Going invisible for all intents and purposes to the regular naked eye he started to hunt down the homeless population while taking in more spirits for his new Police Project.
