We're kinda weak

We're kinda weak

In response to the descending magic knight and his blade, the Dagon raised its head and opened its mouth.

WHLSSSH

Aqua breath

A current of cloudy water ejected from the monster's mouth, drenching the boy in the thick liquid.

"Shit." Instantly, Adonis felt his body's weight increase and his stamina and mana drain away with each drop of water.

{Dumbass.}

"Ke kee ke kee!" Refusing to give the boy any time to adapt, the Dagon balanced on its erected tail and launched its heavy fist at Adonis's torso.

"Come closer, I dare you." Adonis's body suddenly erupted in a thin shroud of ivory flames that destroyed the magic water.

BWSHHH

Inferno Magic: Hell shroud (Matter variation)

"Kee?!" Detecting the danger that lay within those flames, the Dagon retracted its arm and returned to the ground.

'That's what I thought.' Adonis grinned and intensified the flames surrounding his left hand.

"Inferno magic: Hell grenades!" The magic knight raised his left arm and rapidly flung balls of fire at the monster. (matter variation)

"Ke." The Dagon scrunched its face and slithered around each descending ball, gracefully evading every attack.

WHOOSH

BOOM BOOM BOOM

With every collision with the rocky terrain, the fireballs destroyed the earth, creating empty shallow craters.

'It's pretty fast.' He acknowledged.

"Keee!" Switching targets, the Dagon sprinted at the mage with the magic staff.

Realizing the monster had switched targets, Hiram pointed at it with the staff and created a large magic circle above its path.

When the monster was finally in position, Hiram's simple magic circle was complete and ready.

"Ice magic: Mobile Glacier!" Wasting no time at all, she summoned a massive rock of ice and sent it plummeting at the Dagon's head.

WHOOSH

Reacting swiftly, the Dagon slithered out of the glacier's path and continued rushing at the mage.

"Keee!" Arriving within the next second, the Dagon released its large fist at Hiram's face.

"Don't even think of touching me." Utilizing a magic circle beneath her feet, Hiram erected a thick ice wall to shield the attack.

Ice Magic: Frost Barrier

BAM

"Ke?" Unwavering, the Dagon slithered around the wall and flung its tail at her legs.

WHOOSH

"You don't listen do you?" The mage's vibrant purple eyes dimmed as she channelled more mana into a second magic circle.

Ice magic: Glacial Stake

Hiram summoned a big icicle from the circle designed to pierce through the monster's tail.

WHOOSH

"Keee!" Alarmed, the monster quickly slithered backwards, managing to barely evade the quick spell.

"That was impressive, when'd you learn to dual cast?" Adonis landed gracefully on the cavern ground and dashed at the Dagon.

(Dual casting is the casting of two different spells that require two separate and different magic circles.)

"Now." The mage shrugged.

'She's talented!' He marvelled.

{Unlike you!}

'That was unnecessary.' Slightly hurt by the Devil God's insult, Adonis sliced at the Dagon's stomach.

"Let's up the pressure!"

"Ke!" Deeming the attack too weak to guard, the Dagon merely embraced the blow with its body and thrust its fist at his head.

'That's kinda disrespectful.' Adonis quickly stepped out of the way of the attack, receiving a deep graze on his cheek from the fist.

SPLURT

Aiding her fiancee, Hiram fired three bullets of ice at the monster, these moving much faster than the ones she used against the Lirates.

Ice Magic: Frost Bullets

Meeting the spell with an attack just as formidable, the Dagon fired another burst of water.

Aqua Breath

Taking advantage of the monster's distraction, Adonis cleaved his gladius at the monster's hips.

DUMMM

Acting as if it had a mind of its own, the Dagon's tail jolted and swatted the student away as if he were an insect.

"Ah!"

"Ke ke." Determined to finish him off, the monster turned its back and slithered after him.

"Ke!" The monster raised both arms above its head sending, them hurling down at Adonis's skull.

WHOOSH

'It's stronger and faster than me...' Using the momentum from the previous blow, Adonis rolled out the attack's way.

"Leave him alone!" Hiram pointed her magic staff at the monster and channelled mana into a large magic circle.

Ice magic: Baltic Drill

Escaping the magic circle at Mach 4 was a massive tapered chunk of ice, heading straight for the monster's torso.

WHOOSH

Ignoring the boy, the Dagon turned around and raised its arms to block the attack.

THUD

CRACK

"Kee!" Feeling its bones almost snap, the monster squealed in pain.

"Inferno Magic: Hell cannon!" Adonis sharpened his eyes and threw a ball of ivory flames into a magic circle before him.

(matter variation)

When the flames exited the boy's circle they transformed into a grand stream of destructive flames heading straight for the Dagon.

BWSHHH

Relying on its sharp instincts, the monster turned around and raised its hand.

TSCHHH

"KEE?!" Having expected the flames to merely scorch its hand, the monster was unpleasantly surprised to find it no longer had one.

Hiram placed her hand on a small complex magic on the circle and let her mana surge.

"Ice magic: Rime." Tiny ice crystals spread from the magic circle, like an infectious plague they continued to expand freezing everything they touched.

RTLT RTLT

The ice continued to spread rapidly till it inevitably reached the monster, freezing every single cell in its body and turning it into a solid chunk of ice.

'Wow.' Adonis approached the new ice sculpture and struck it with his fist, shattering it like glass.

SHATTER

A single pink magic crystal rolled along the ground toward the magic knight's feet.

"You're full of surprises, aren't you Hiram?" He picked up the magic crystal and absorbed it into his ranger's ring.

"You shouldn't know all my tricks." She giggled.

"I'll make you reveal them all!" Adonis began collecting the magic crystals from the Lirates' corpses.

'Seems like there're no more monsters in the lake.' After collecting all the magic crystals, Adonis turned to the lake.

"Let's go." The pair ventured deeper into the dungeon, passing through a second much longer tunnel.

"Scary..." Walking behind the magic knight, Hiram whispered to herself.

"What?" Adonis turned around.

"Nothing." She muttered.

"Okay..." The boy turned around once more, following the light in the distance.

After walking for a few more seconds, Adonis felt a light tapping on his shoulder.

"Ready to admit that you're scared?" He smiled.

"What?" Hiram frowned.

"You tapped my shoulder." He replied.

"No, I didn't." She tilted her head.

"Are you playing some kind of jo-" Feeling a second tap on his shoulder, Adonis turned around once more.

Instead of a human as he might have expected, Adonis found himself face to face with a peculiar monster.

The creature his visage was inches away from was much smaller than the Dagon.

The mischievous monster possessed a deformed egg-like shape that cast a gentle white glow through the tunnel. Three dull eyes were arranged randomly on the forefront of the creature's face, while a terrifying tentacle beard cascaded down to its thin chest.

The monster's body was shaped like a deformed question mark and accentuated by gill-like wings that fluttered delicately. Replacing its legs and aiding in its balance was a long tapered tail, which seemed to sway freely in the air.

The hands that had been used to tap the boy were disproportionately large, rivalling the size of its misshapen head. Like the entire monster, its hands were devoid of muscle or fat, resembling one large misshapen bone.

"Creepy." Hiram shuddered.

"Hee he he-" The monster chuckled.

Using his gladius, Adonis ruthlessly sliced through the air, killing the monster in its path.

SPLURT

"Unupus, White Rank." Noticing more than a dozen lights flickering through the tunnel, Adonis lifted his head.

"Hee he hee!"

"Hee he hee!"

"Hee he hee!"

{They're hideous.} The Devil God said bluntly.

'They kinda look like you.' Adonis jested.

{What'd you say, mortal?!}

'I'm kidding!' He chuckled.

"Ice magic: Frost Bullets." Hiram ejected six chunks of ice from a magic circle, each one effortlessly killing a Unupus.

"Inferno magic: Hell's artillery." At the same time, Adonis created multiple magic circles, commanding them to fire small balls of flames on creation.

WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH

"That's it?" Hiram said disappointedly as she watched the lifeless bodies fall from the air.

"I mean, they're only White Rank." Adonis began collecting each magic crystal from their bodies.

"We should go to a two-star dungeon after this, we're not going to get any stronger in these one-star dungeons." Refusing to touch the dead bodies, Hiram simply watched the boy work.

"Sure, but we'll need to get a party...We're kinda weak." Adonis chuckled.
