The beautiful afternoon sun shines upon me. The cool summer air and the luscious flowery scent fill me with contentment I've never felt before. Sure the first few years were rough being a baby and all, But once that's done, you get an all-paid countryside vacation. Well, besides that, I'll say the best part would be.
"Charles, Where are you?, Were about to celebrate your birthday."
I stood up and ran towards the voice until I saw her. If there ever were a goddess, it would have been her: the lustrous purple hair, White unblemished skin, and thoughtful purple eyes.
The matching sundress just made her more beautiful. As I run towards her, she smiles at me brightly, And the world fills with color. I jump towards her lap, she holds out her arm, and I hug her with all my might.
It might be weird to be this attached, seeing this is my second life. But this affection is something I have missed and yearned for my entire life. I thought as I hug harder surrounding myself with her warmth.
She giggles. "My baby is always so loving, isn't he, Faye."
The maid Faye softly smiles at us with her sharp eyes and black tied-up hair.
"Yes, Lady Annabelle, And I believe such a loving boy requires a loving gift" As she passes me a box.
"Thank you, Faye" I smile at her as I reach for the gift. Feeling it with my hands, trying to guess what it could be. Maybe it's a book, My mother giggles
"You can just open it, my baby."
I rip open the wrapper and I see the title "Magic, Basic Concepts and Fundamentals."
"Since my baby has been so interested in magic, Your mommy has decided to teach you." She excitedly hugs me closer to her chest
"Yay, Can we do it now?" I excitedly ask her.
"Well, I still haven't given you my gift," she giggles as she takes out a black ring. She clears her throat, trying and failing to look serious.
"This my cutest baby is Caellum. Caellum is a metal that gives everyone the capability of magic" She brandishes her hand forward, lighting up the ring in her finger, Summoning a sphere of water.
"Performing magic is easy" She smiles as she puts the ring on my finger.
"You just have to visualize the element you wish to command."
I close my eyes feeling a shock through my finger as something seemingly connected, and I pull on such power commanding a blast of air.

White light erupts from the metal as a blast of air comes; the sound of wind passed through my ears. The feeling of air seemingly dragging me away, It all felt Wonderfully Magical.
"Oh my, my sweetling seems to do it so well, In his first try too." She softly pats my black hair, lowering it from its disorderly mess.
"Yes, Quite Powerful," Faye replies as she rearranges the disorderly table.
"That was so cool," I exclaim from the intense feeling of power that coursed through me. And the lack of feeling returns. I nearly jumped, trying to redo it now with water. The ring emitted a blue hue.
"My sweetling, Trying to use water will be infeasible. The metal has already been used for air. The attribute can't be easily changed." She pats my head, calming me from the excitement as I look towards my finger. As the formerly black ring turned into white.
Despite my mother's new information, I close my eyes, trying to turn the water from my surroundings into a sphere, only to fail as resulting in mere droplets.
She giggles. "My sweetling, no matter how big you imagine, it'll always end up a fraction."
"But, Why?" I ask, frustrated once again summoning tiny embers of flame.
"We do not know. The only one capable of such a feat would've been the Orvita."
"Orvita? How can I be like that then?"
"Fufu, I'll tell you once we start your history lesson sweetling, though it'll be best for now that we enjoy your birthday," She replies as maids bring the various dishes unto the table.
I lick my lips as the food enters my periphery. And I, as much as my tiny body can take, tasted each of the dishes available: the fried chicken, the soup, and various sauces.
This is the life I thought as the feeling of fullness remains with me, and the warmth from my mother comforts me to sleep.
"Oh, look, Faye, Isn't he the cutest?"
"As you say, Your Highness."
Ann giggles and looks on fondly. "I wish it would stay this way forever."
"I hope so too, But Prince Charles will only have a year left. It would be best to prepare him now," Faye replies seriously. as she clears out the table.
"Yes, you're right it's best to prepare him now." Ann looked on sadly. As she continues to pat Charles's head
"It is best to look on the bright side Ann" Faye smiles, giving a comforting hand to Ann's shoulder.
"Yes! Did you see him do magic! He's going to be great." Ann smiles at her dearest friend.
"Yes, It would seem he got it from you," As Faye replies as she finishes putting the dishes back in the tray.
"Of course, I was the best mage out there." Ann answers while reminiscing.
"You still are milady."
"I'll probably be traveling the world now, gaining recognition as the best female mage ever!" She dreamily laughs.
as the realization of such a dream was shattered."If only," Ann spoke despondently.
"Then Prince Charles wouldn't have been born," Faye replies, smirking.
"I suppose so," Ann laughs as she lightly touches her precious gift. Afraid of waking him.
"Then I'll be leaving your highness. It would be best for you to enjoy your much-beloved break" Faye smiles as the sounds of the tray fades away.
Ann looks at Charles fondly, carrying him towards a more comfortable sofa, and hugged him tightly, afraid of losing this happiness.
This might not be the dream I always wanted. But I wouldn't exchange you for anything else. The last thought of Ann as the cool summer breeze and chirping of birds started lulling her to sleep.
